Fable Anniversary
Fable Anniversary, recently released by Microsoft for the Xbox 360, celebrates the (almost) 10 year
anniversary of the initial Fable, released in September of 2004 for the initial Xbox console. Anniversary
can be a faithful HD remastering of the initial game, including every one of the additional Lost Chapters
content material, plus a few updates such as the addition of achievements, SmartGlass efficiency, and a
new save system.
The first thing you will observe, and only because they produce a big deal about pointing it out each and
every time you weight the game, is the SmartGlass functionality. For those unaware, SmartGlass can be
an app for Xbox 360 360 and Xbox One that allows Android, iOS and Windows capable devices such as
for example tablets and smartphones for connecting to a system to provide several functions. Usually
SmartGlass just becomes my iPhone into an uncomfortable to use Netflix remote, but with Fable
Wedding anniversary you should use it to compare on screen images to the original Xbox version's
images, consider screenshots, and peruse the map. It is also the main element in exposing some hidden
items in the overall game, and a straightforward 25 point achievement.
Once you get past the initial SmartGlass splash screen/advertisement and also start the overall game,
the following point you will observe is the images overhaul. Fable Anniversary is downright gorgeous,
and it's not hard to see where the 15 months Lionhead Studios spent developing this video game went.
The world of Albion and its own familiar environs are taken to existence with updated lighting, hi-def
skins and textures, and throughout improved visual fidelity. So excellent in fact, I ran into some
framerate issues more than once. Whether that was because of my machine, the disc I used to be

playing, or simply a lot of extra pizzazz dumped on a 10-year-old video game, still continues to be a
question.
If you have played Fable, Wedding anniversary will definitely be familiar. Apart from the graphics and
audio overhaul, the game itself remains essentially unchanged. Fable Wedding anniversary is definitely
not a reimagining of the original game, but more like an update. Followers is going to be pleased how
the mechanics, story and side articles remain unchanged, but the ones that haven't performed the
original will find an 'open world RPG' that doesn't feel very open, tone of voice acting that's passable but
dated, and a Fable video game that is less feature-rich than Fable II or Fable III.
That's not to say there isn't a lot right here. As the Hero of Oakvale, and a card-carrying person in the
guild, you should have plenty of questing to accomplish. There are still houses to buy and transfer to or
subsequently rent out as a income source. There are titles to earn; nobody wants to end up being
known as Chicken Chaser for the whole game in the end. Oh, and you'll have to determine if you're good
or evil of course. Will you be a hero towards the people of Albion, or do you want to save them from
themselves by ruling through fear and intimidation?
The game's not perfect. Apart from the periodic graphical slowdown, it could have been wonderful if the
crew at Lionhead Studios had allotted maybe one of the fifteen weeks they allocated to this game
towards reconstructing the arcane menu system or reducing launching times. The images are fine and
all, but probably not worth looking forward to 15-20 seconds each time you switch areas. Still, in case
your only contact with the Fable series is usually II or III, that is absolutely the best way for the 360
owner to get a glimpse at the roots of the franchise. At the budget-minded cost of $39.99 new, Fable
Anniversary is a no-brainer pickup for diehard fans of the series. Informal fans and achievement chasers
will find plenty to maintain them busy here as well. Look for it at your neighborhood Slackers today. For
