The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study<br />
The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS) seeks to explore the liminal spaces<br />
between conventional scholarship in the hope of answering the deepest questions facing<br />
our world and beyond.<br />
JIAS is a joint initiative of the University of Johannesburg and Nanyang Technological<br />
University (NTU), Singapore. It promotes advanced research in the humanities and<br />
natural sciences – reaching out beyond the regular teaching and research activities at<br />
institutions of higher learning.<br />
In JIAS understanding begins with eliminating the barriers established by orthodox<br />
academic framings.<br />
