Tamaulipas: the paradise of the hunter and fisherman Finding the ideal place to hunt and fish in Mexico is simple. It is enough to go to Tamaulipas, state located in the northeast of Mexico, with a wide border with the United States of America and excellently communicated by land, air and sea to the whole world. Hunting and fishing are part of the vocations of this land, which has 370 kilometers of border with its neighbor to the north, 17 international crossings, more than 14 thousand kilometers of roads, almost a thousand railroads and five airports. In addition, it has 433 kilometers of coastline, 300,000 acres of lakes and coastal lagoons, two seaports and a large port that is under construction in Matamoros. To all this, Tamaulipas has five beach destinations, all with extensive hotel and gastronomic infrastructure. Among the most sought-after hair species in the state is the white-tailed deer, which can be hunted in more than 700 specialized ranches, also highlighting the wild boar, puma and wildcat. In the “Time of All” that the state lives, rifle and rod sports are part of a new governmental strategy to encourage the economy and ensure the sustainability of natural resources, based on the continuous improvement of infrastructure and safety conditions. Today, its large hunting ranches are increasingly visited and its international events on land and water are known, where hunters and fishermen find varieties for all tastes and abilities. Result of the most important effort made in Tamaulipas, so that hunting and fishing are consolidated as job generators and drivers of the conservation of native species, in the state there are international events such as the White Winged Dove´s Festival. This attractive sport event, inscribed in a strategy of local and regional development, takes place within the ethical and legal parameters that characterize good hunters, promoting interest in nature and favoring communion with it. Another example of the attractions offered by the state, is the celebration of the traditional International Tournament of Corvina and Various Species “Copa TAM”, which in the modality “pie tierra” became last year, the most important in Mexico. Without a doubt, hunting, fishing and man´s development go hand in hand. Welcome to Tamaulipas, hunters and fishermen of the world! Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca State governor
