A Mysterious Lady<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> flight was gut-wrenching for Avery.<br />
What had she d<strong>on</strong>e to make Roseline not want<br />
to see her? Was it something she’d said in <strong>on</strong>e of<br />
her letters? Should she tell Mimi and Papa and<br />
run <strong>the</strong> risk of ruining <strong>the</strong>ir trip? One thing<br />
was for sure: it was already ruined for her. As<br />
<strong>the</strong> plane descended at New Orleans, Avery’s<br />
anxiety was ascending.<br />
She turned <strong>the</strong> colorful envelope over and<br />
over in her hands. It was too late to h<strong>on</strong>or<br />
Roseline’s request, but should she still try<br />
to c<strong>on</strong>tact her? “If New Orleans is known as<br />
‘<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> Big Easy,’” she whispered, “why am I<br />
