“Dual Enrollment (DE) offers our high school students opportunities to experience either higher
level academics, or potentially earn a certification that will position them for success in today’s
job market. Upon enrollment into college after high school, parents and students realize a cost
savings provided through college credits earned. In Southside Virginia, dual enrollment credit is
crucial as it affords our students the ability to be competitive with their counterparts throughout
the state.”
“In taking Dual Enrollment (DE) courses at Buckingham County High School (BCHS), I was
able to learn and understand what being in a college credit course was like and what would be
expected of me. The courses I took, biology, English and government, gave me a true sense
of collegiate coursework and prepared me in a very paramount way to what was ahead of me
in terms of college. The courses were of no cost to BCHS students, which was certainly not
a hand out, but a hand up into higher education and a great, challenging experience. I’m truly
thankful for my educational foundation of BCHS and SVCC.”
