Jacy McAlexander, the South Central Calhoun student whose jersey the West Sioux football 

team had the honor of carrying out during the championship game, had a tradition of collecting 

pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines. The McAlexander’s stayed nearly 300 

nights there while Jacy battled Ewing’s sarcoma. Jacy died May 16, 2018. Today Jacy’s family 

and friends have set a goal to collect five tons of pop tabs by Jacy’s birthday, Sept. 5, 2019. 

Monthly pick-ups will be done by Katie and Chris Anderson.
