INTRODUCING LANCASTER CONFERENCES +
Your event. Our expertise.
With a portfolio like ours, we have the perfect space for a broad range of events. Rooms for
meetings, halls for banquets, suites for receptions and theatres for lectures – not to mention
dining facilities, overnight accommodation and outdoor spaces. Yet the physical space is just
the beginning. We also offer the human element, with a team full of experience and expertise.
From the first steps of planning to last-minute queries and requests, our professionals are on
hand and ready to help. We can take you through your options for buildings, rooms and
layouts, ensuring you have the perfect space to meet your needs. We can provide the technical
support to put our technology at your fingertips, for presentations, exhibitions and screenings.
And, with the support of our catering team, we can lay on everything from a morning cup
of coffee to a feast for hundreds.
We understand that events
can seem daunting and we
know that every detail
matters. But whatever your
needs, we’re here to help.
We’ve got lots of experience to boot. We’ve worked with…

WHY LANCASTER?
Our setting
A city full of character. A campus full of life.
When you’re at conference or an event, it’s what’s in the room that matters most. The
people you’re meeting, the facilities you need, the services provided. They’re all crucial. But
the world outside that room has a crucial part to play in the experience too. With a
campus like ours and a city like Lancaster, we offer a setting like few others.
A few minutes’ drive. A world away.
Lancaster visitors enjoy a vast green-field site
with wonderful views of mountains and sea,
yet the campus is just 5 minutes’ drive from
the M6 motorway and ten minutes from the
main West Coast railway with direct services
to Manchester, London and Scotland.
Set among 560 acres of beautiful
parkland, it’s a village in itself.
Here, you’ll find shops, banks, a
post office and even a
hairdresser. If you’re looking for a
bite to eat, we have a range of
restaurants and cafes. And, when
business is done for the day,
there are nine bars where you
can relax and socialise.
BIG EVENT SPACES & CAMPUS VENUES
Within our award winning campus and facilities, we
have the capacity to hold meetings, training sessions,
exhibitions, networking events, gala dinners, team
away days and much more!
From intimate but perfectly formed boardrooms to
tiered lecture theatres for 350 delegates and flat
floored spaces for up to 800 delegates, Lancaster
offers you a tailored choice suited to your needs. As
a campus University, all of our meeting spaces,
accommodation and dining spaces are within walking
distance.
A selection of our meeting facilities are available all
year round whilst the larger academic spaces are
available during the University’s Easter and Summer
vacation.

From grand openings and showpiece finales to glittering ceremonies and keynote talks,
our Great Hall provides the space for major events. It’s a space made for presenting
awards, giving talks, sharing ideas and entertaining guests (and, in our case, awarding
degrees).
As the name suggests, it’s the biggest space at Lancaster University – a theatre for an
audience of up to 800, a banquet hall for up to 340 diners, or an exhibition hall for 250
guests. It offers the adaptability, the space and the technical facilities to offer the setting
for major standalone events, ceremonies and speeches. And, because it’s only a short stroll
from our facilities at LICA and the Faraday Complex, it's also provides a fitting stage for
kicking off or concluding major conferences.
“Perfect as usual. The team very
attentive and met all our needs
throughout the day. The hot lunch
was amazing and was lovely to have
it served.
The room layout was ideal for the
style of delivery that we used and all
the tech worked brilliantly.”
This is a space created for wonderful performance.
Here, it’s not just the arts that are contemporary –
everything at LICA is modern, equipped with topspec
facilities and the latest environmentallyconscious
design. The result is a structure with a
BREEAM outstanding environmental rating for its
sustainability, and a venue perfect for a wide range
of large-scale events.

LICA offers almost 600 square metres of floor space – the building is
nestled among the campus greenery, with a footbridge over a pond
providing access. Step inside and you’ll find a large foyer, ideal for
receptions or even as an exhibition space.
However, the biggest feature at LICA is its huge, double-height
performance space. The room is open and airy, big enough to be a
flat-floored theatre for an audience of 800, a banquet hall for 320
diners or a reception room for 200 guests. With flexible partition
options, it can be divided into smaller areas for various uses. And it
has the lighting and sound equipment for all sorts of productions,
from awards presentations and gala dinners, to keynote addresses
and major launches.
The George Fox Complex is an
excellent self-contained event
space for up to 350 people.
In reality, the George Fox Building is not a venue, but a succession
of venues. Inside, beyond a foyer space brimming with natural light,
you’ll find flexible spaces full of versatility and possibility. It’s home
to the largest lecture theatre on campus, which can seat an
audience of up to 350 guests, together with a collection of six
other large rooms big enough for parallel sessions, team meetings
or smaller talks for around 40-100 people.
While any of the spaces and rooms can provide the venue for a
one-off meeting, exhibition, presentation or training session, having
all these different spaces under one roof means the George Fox
Building offers an ideal, self-contained setting for conferences,
company away days and major meetings.

As the George Fox building is used for
teaching it is available during the University
vacation periods (usually March/April, July,
August and September).
Our Management School was made for business – a
building rooted in the standards and practices of
professional collaboration. In other words, it’s the
perfect setting for a range of meetings.
It’s one of the most popular choices for conferences
and events on campus, not only because it offers an
impressive variety of rooms, but also because
everything is gathered around a central hub – an ideal
space for networking, reception events, lunch time
refreshments and evening canapés. The School has no
fewer than twelve lecture theatres, ranging in capacity
from 32 all the way up to 150, together with a
collection of glass-fronted meeting rooms with space
for up to ten people.
With such a wealth of options, it’s ideal for everything
from small meetings and training sessions to
complete conferences and multi-day events.
“Thank you SO much for all your hard work, especially onsite,
we really appreciated it. On the feedback survey we
sent to the delegates 100% of respondents have said
Lancaster venue and catering is either excellent or very
good.”
British Society of Soil Science

Lancaster University Management School is
amongst the top 1% of business schools in
the world that currently hold triple
accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and the
Association of MBA’s.
This is just one of the reasons why the Management School is such a popular venue choice
for meetings and events. As one of the most sought after spaces on the University campus,
the management school offers event organisers so many possibilities, no matter the group
size.
Within the school we can offer 12 lecture theatres, with the largest tiered venue seating 150
people. Our lecture theatres are a mixture of flat floored and tiered spaces; with an additional
6 glass fronted flat floored meeting rooms seating up to 10 people in each. Our ‘Hub’ is
fantastic for exhibitions, refreshments and catering, and is often used in the evening for
networking and canapés.
For smaller-scale conferences and team or department-level events,
the Charles Carter Building provides a stylish and modern venue. It’s
not only an attractive building, but a sustainable one too – having
been built to the BREEAM excellent standard. With a range of
spaces on offer, it can act as a self-contained venue for conferences
of around 60 people, or as an extra resource for talks, meetings or
additional sessions as part of a larger, more complex conference
event on campus.
At the ground level, the atrium provides a light, open heart to the
building. It’s an airy space, ideal for receptions and refreshments, or
for networking in between meetings. On the upper floors, the
building is home to five spacious rooms for presentations and
discussions, the largest of which can hold up to 54 people, together
with three smaller meeting rooms with space for 20 people.
Throughout the building, modern standards mean high-quality AV
equipment, matched only by the support and service our events
team offers.
In a word, the Faraday Complex offers flexibility. That’s thanks to
a comprehensive range of meeting and event spaces, all in one
self-contained building.
While it has the spaces ideal for team meetings, training days or
presentations, it also offers the scale for department-level events
or large-scale conferences – with enough space in its lecture
theatres for up to 620 people at once. Its largest lecture theatre
has space for an audience of 280 people, while there are other
tiered theatres for up to 140 and up to 60. There are four
seminar rooms, handy for breakout sessions or meetings of up to
24 people. And, the central foyer area that not only links all the
other facilities, but also provides the space for event registration
or break-time refreshments. With a few screens, you can even
split the area into a smaller event space.
With a wide number of rooms and spaces, Bowland North offers flexibility on a grand
scale. As well as two lecture theatres, both of which can host an audience of up to 140
people, there are no fewer than 27 meeting rooms of various sizes, for groups
between 20 and 60 people. And, while the capacity varies, all these rooms offer natural
light, easy Wi-Fi access and all the AV equipment you could need for presentations,
meetings and interactive sessions.
With such a wide range of spaces on offer, Bowland North’s flexibility makes it an
excellent setting for multi-faceted or multi-stage events, from assessment centres to
complex training programmes to team-building sessions. And, because it’s only a short
walk from our other facilities at the Faraday, LICA and Great Hall, it can also provide
the perfect setting for breakout meetings or parallel sessions as part of a large-scale
conference event.
We’re ready to help you unlock the potential at Bowland North – finding the right
From light lunches and relaxed
space for every kind of mealtime.
Our team can make sure the food
Yet while it’s a space made for food,
it’s also equipped for professional,
splitting it in two – in case you don't
banquet seating. And, because the
room is fully equipped with AV
facilities, it has everything you need
for presentations, speeches and
The catering was fantastic – the staff were
really efficient and great to work with and
the food was wonderful. Would I
As a space that’s made only for meetings and events – with no teaching
happening on site – Bowland Hall isn’t just available throughout the
calendar, it’s also one of our most business-focused facilities on campus.
Here, there are two rooms, both equipped with AV facilities, with a
large meeting room that can accommodate up to 50 as a theatre, and a
smaller boardroom with space for up to 15 people.
That makes it a venue ready to host a range of events, from smaller
meetings and seminars, right up to larger team or department-level
meetings. As a combination, it offers a range of possibilities, with
training days, workshops and events with breakout groups or side
meetings. Whatever you have planned for your event, we’ll be ready to
help you make of it – from organising room layouts and refreshments,
Relax for the night. Ready for the day.
When the meetings are over and the conversations are complete, the day can end with
waiting for taxis, driving to hotels and checking into rooms, or with a short stroll through a
parkland campus to our accommodation. The difference is more than a few miles’ travel (or
even a few pounds saved); the difference lies in day two, three and beyond. With the
convenience and comfort our 3 * Visit England accredited guest rooms offer, your guests,
attendees or delegates will be relaxed, refreshed and ready for the next day.
We have 80 dedicated rooms throughout the year, rising to more than 1000 rooms during
important meal of the day. And, when the day is done, there’s a range of bars and cafes to
enjoy without setting foot off campus.
From one room for the night to a conference-sized block-booking for a few days, our team
is ready to manage every detail. All you need to do is get in touch.
