to Canadian consumers. Contrary to the overall market,<br />
Volvo’s growth was led by its passenger car lineup with the<br />
introduction of the Volvo V90 and an impressive increase<br />
in the sales of the S90. In the Overall Opinion Index, Volvo<br />
dropped 6.58 points and fell below the industry average to<br />
16 th . Most Effective Manufacturer/Dealer Communication<br />
between the dealers and Volvo saw a similar pattern,<br />
dropping more than 10 points from 7 th to 16 th .<br />
Mitsubishi<br />
An all new Outlander PHEV is expected to provide some extra<br />
punching power to the already successful Outlander line for<br />
Mitsubishi. The automaker was up 1.9 percent in <strong>2017</strong> with<br />
a total of 22,706 light vehicles sold. Success from the light<br />
truck range at Mitsubishi was a saving grace as they clocked<br />
a 15.0 percent growth which offset the decline observed in<br />
passenger car sales. Despite a lack of movement in Overall<br />
Opinions Index rank, dealers were optimistic about the brand<br />
which saw it move 0.8 points upwards. There was a theme<br />
of give and take from the perspective of the dealer as most<br />
categories saw slight shifts in both directions. That being<br />
said, field staff support in vehicle sales was a category that<br />
improved and resulted in a 14 rank increase for the brand.<br />
Dealers also felt more optimistic that the value of the franchise<br />
would increase in the future.<br />
