S’atara of Ancient Energy Orchids
Seattle, WA, January 21, 2019 -- Active Grow, the sustainable horticultural lighting
manufacturer was recently featured by Ancient Energy Orchids. A’na S’atara, the
owner of Ancient Energy Orchids’ website is dedicated to educating growers on how
to improve orchid growing conditions based on her many years of experience with the
plant. Recently A’na has been using the Active Grow T5 HO LED Horticultural
Lamps and the Active Grow 40W Propagation Luminaires for growing
Paphiopedilums, Phalaenopsis and Dendrobiums orchids.
A’na details her experience working with Active Grow LEDs and others in her article,
A new lighting option for indoor orchid growing: T5 HO LED replacements for
fluorescent bulbs. A’na shares a summary of her results as such, “I am a serious
orchid grower, and have created several indoor growing areas using LED lights. Right
now, I am using LED grow lights from six manufacturers … and Active Grow is my
favorite for seedlings,
Paphiopedilum,
Phalaenopsis, and other
lower light orchids. I do
have some medium light
Dendrobiums starting to
flower under the Active
Grow lights as well.”
Here is what A’na said
about working with Active
Grow T5 LED Lamps,
“I’m taking the time to
write a review, which I rarely do, because the Active Grow T5 LEDs are the best full
spectrum grow lighting that I’ve found so far for orchid seedlings, and blooming size
Paphiopedilums and Phalaenopsis. I particularly note the robust year-round root
growth on the Paphs, including multi-floral and higher light species. The lights in a
nutshell: better light quality, much less energy, and much less heat. I have replaced all
of the bulbs in my Hydrofarm Agrobrite T5 fixtures with the Active Grow T5 LED
conversion tubes.”
Here is what A’na said about working with Active Grow Propagation 40W LED
Luminaires, “I had hoped to replace my T5 HO fluorescent bulbs in the fixtures over
my Paphiopedilum seedlings with conversion LED bulbs like my others from Active
Grow. However, the conversion bulbs didn’t work in those ballasts. Since I had such
great results with the light spectrum from the Active Grow LEDs with my blooming
size Paphs, I decided to simply replace three of my 108W T5 fixtures with the 40W
Luminaire product. Very, very pleased with the decision. Everything has been an
upgrade with these LED lights for the orchids — I can’t think of any downsides. The
orchids are happier, and therefore, so are we!”
