Celebrating 125 years of UWSP really means celebrating you and
Pointers everywhere. Each and every one of you is integral to the
Pointer family story.
There are a plethora of ways to get involved and let your voice be
heard. Read on to learn about opportunities being created just for
you as we mark this truly significant milestone in the history of
our university.

so special, and it is because of you that the university will continue
to live on in the hearts and minds of generations to come.

The UWSP 125th anniversary website will be updated throughout
the year with various activities and announcements. Be sure to
check back often to stay up-to-date on all the action.
CELEBRATE LIKE IT’S 1894 —
ALL YEAR LONG!
All year long the university’s social media pages will feature ways
to connect, stay involved and add your voice to the Pointer story.
From sharing memories to Throwback Thursdays, make sure you
participate in all the fun and celebrations!

HISTORY WITH A SPECIAL-EDITION
YEARBOOK!
Officially yearbooks at UWSP began with the publishing of “The
Nautilus” in 1901. Student committees compiled and published
yearbooks for Pointers until 1988. The Freshman Record, which
depicted photos of and information regarding students who were
starting their journey at UWSP, was published for a few years after
that. As time has gone by and technology has moved front and
center, Facebook has taken over as the place for Pointers to share
memories. Each year UWSP students join a Facebook group designed
specifically for their class — a living yearbook, of sorts, online.
During this year’s quasiquicentennial (yep, that’s what they call it)
celebration, the university has gone back to its roots by creating a
yearbook encapsulating
125 years of UWSP in
all its glory. Inside these
pages you will find a
treasure trove of
memories, featuring
significant moments,
and individuals from
UWSP’s past and present.

125K SERVICE CHALLENGE
We are challenging alumni, students and community members
to demonstrate all the ways Pointers give back. We have set an
ambitious goal for our Pointer family of logging 125,000 hours of
service and hosting 125 Days of Service in 2019. We’ve put together
an online log into which you can proudly submit your contributions
toward our target numbers.
WHAT CONSTITUTES A DAY OF SERVICE?
A Day of Service can be any activity undertaken by Pointers,
individually or in a group. Do you serve on a board in your local
community? Help at a community garden? Volunteer at a senior
center? Your Pointer impact through service counts!
HOW? THREE WAYS TO PARTICIPATE!
1) Create your own Day of Service
2) Join any of our existing Days of Service
3) Continue with any community service projects you are
already undertaking
HOW CAN I JOIN AN EXISTING DAY OF SERVICE?

Celebrate everything it means to be a Pointer at Homecoming
2019. Join us for traditional events, including reunions, where friends
and classmates share memories at UWSP.
BE PART OF UWSP’S ANNUAL
DAY OF GIVING!
Additionally, you are invited to be a part of an elegant evening
full of fun and surprises. The 125th Pointers Gala will celebrate
125 years of Pointer Pride and honor all those who have helped
us reach and exceed our goal during the university’s Then, Now &
Forever - We Are Point Capital Campaign. We will also recognize
our Distinguished Alumni and several special service volunteers. It
will be an evening of magic and wonder you won’t want to miss!

donation toward UWSP student scholarships.
• Give during “power hours” to double or triple your gift!
