Lord, today we begin a season of preparation. We want to make ready
our hearts for your coming. We must confess, however, that we are so
intent on celebrating your advent so long ago, and speculating on when
you will return, that we forget you are ready to come to us now. Forgive
our blindness, awaken us to your presence, and come into our hearts
now, Lord Jesus.
Our Father, during this season in which we celebrate the love of
God as expressed in the gift of your Son, it is fitting that we also
express our love in a tangible way. Receive these gifts as our
expression of that love.
Divine love through me blesses and multiplies all that I have, all
that I give, and all that I receive, in the name of Jesus. Amen

The Wall of Honor
Hope’s Wall of Honor is an everlasting tribute to our Veterans. It was designed and
donated to Hope by Brother Sid Taylor, a US Marine, Vietnam combat veteran and
beloved member of Hope. It is a memorial tribute to commemorate the sacrifices our
veterans have made for our country. We are grateful to Sid and his family for blessing
us all with the beautiful Wall of Honor.
New names are added to the Wall of Honor every Veteran’s Day. If you, a loved one, or
a friend served in the armed forces and would like to be added to the Wall, please
complete the Wall of Honor form located in the Literature Rack and place it in the Wall of
Honor mailbox outside the Sanctuary. God bless you.

Prepare For the New Year
Early Detection Can Improve Your Quality of Life
Join us on the Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the library as we support those
persons (including caregivers) going through the cancer experience.
Guest Speaker: Jim Scott, Cancer Survivor and National Bladder Cancer Network Advocate
Schedule all tests that relate to cancer detection and review your personal and family history
with your internal medicine doctor or family practitioner. Leading up to and over the holiday
reduce your stress and plan to still eat healthy and exercise.
Go into the New Year prepared to practice healthy living habits to include identifying and
reducing stressors and a balanced nutrition and exercise regime.

Missions' Food Pantry Stock Up
Hope, we need your help to stock our pantry to feed our neighbors in
need for the upcoming year. Your donations can be placed in the
Missions food barrels near the kitchen and Room 24 anytime during
the week.
The following items are of special need:
Cereal, canned tuna and salmon, canned fruits and
vegetables, canned soups, rice, beans,
mashed potatoes, boxed macaroni and cheese, pancake
mix, syrup, canned pasta meals, canned chili, peanut butter,
jelly and juice.
Last year Hope blessed approximately 400 families with a food
basket!
