Retaining the historic charm of a once-thriving fishing and boat building community, Ettalong – the southern gateway to the Central Coast – holds undercover markets every weekend. Local arts, crafts and galleries are also a popular feature in the community, with the historic Cinema Paradiso cinema, a popular attraction in the area. Tourism & Accredited Visitor Information Centre Administrator Kim Cole, who runs the Ettalong Diggers Visitor Information Centre, says that with more than 40 cafes and restaurants within a two-kilometre radius, you will be spoilt for choice with dining options from cuisines all over the world. “The town’s shopping strip includes a variety of cafes, restaurants, home wares, fashion, hairdressing, 24/7 gym and massage therapist,” said Kim. “Fine dining cuisines include Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Turkish, Japanese, Mexican, Bistro 51 @ Ettalong Diggers – and don’t forget the local pub!” She said that while Ettalong Beach was a popular all-year holiday destination, much of the population is made up of permanent residents. “Take a walk along Ettalong’s shared walk and bike path along the Esplanade and you’ll soon notice the locals – they’re the ones who look relaxed!” Ettalong Village is bordered by two National Parks. The Bouddi National Park and Brisbane Water National Parks are just moments away and extend into the ocean creating fully protected land, shore and marine habitats.
