The Kelpies Illustration Prize

Designers and illustrators based in Scotland are asked to submit fi ve
illustrations for a children’s book on the theme of
fables for a chance to win a prize package including
a publishing deal.

Illustration Prize is for you!
We’re looking for imaginative and talented
illustrators based in Scotland with a passion for
children’s books. Sound like you? Keep reading!
We’ve put together a brilliant prize package,
designed to support your development as a
children’s book illustrator, which includes the
following:
- A £1,000 cash prize
- One year of mentoring by an experienced
design team
- A publishing contract with Floris Books for an
illustrated project
- A ticket to the Picture Hooks 2019 conference,
plus £100 towards expenses

carefully to get to grips with the new submission
criteria.
This year, we’re asking you to submit fi ve
illustrations for a children’s book on the theme of
fables.
The judges will be looking for imaginative
interpretations, dynamic compositions and fully
realised characters – both human and animal.
You might fi nd inspiration from existing fables
from around the world, or new fables that you’ve
created.
