Print Shop Operator 

Dordt College is seeking a Print Shop Operator to serve in the 

Print and Mail Center part-time. The individual in this position 

would serve as the key operator for two high-speed digital 

production printers. This person would assist with producing 

printed materials from a variety of digital sources, as well as 

trouble-shooting processes, maintaining inventory and editing 

files. The ideal candidate will possess the mechanical aptitude 

to operate bindery equipment such as a high-speed folder, 

paper cutter, drill press, booklet stitcher and binder. However, 

on-the-job training is also available. The job is geared for 20-25 

hours/week, with potentially more hours between mid-August 

through mid-May and fewer hours needed during the summer 

months. 

Candidates should possess strong computer skills as well as 

strengths with coordination and organization are desired. Some 

manual and physical skills are required, including the ability to 

lift objects up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time. 

Great interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently 

and as a part of a team are desired, as well as the ability to 

direct the work of student workers.

Head Groundskeeper 

Dordt College is seeking a driven and self-motivated 

individual to be a part of a dynamic team within the 

Facilities & Services Department at Dordt College. This 

individual would be responsible for providing lawn and 

landscaping service to maintain and enhance the 

appearance of the campus. Work will include providing 

guidance and training for student work teams, mowing, 

trimming, maintaining trees, shrubs and annual 

flowerbeds and general landscaping services. Additional 

duties may include snow removal, maintaining 

equipment, and performing and supervising some 

concrete work. 

Coursework in horticulture with a minimum of 2 years of 

related experience or equivalent combination of 

education, experience and training are desired. 

Mechanical skills necessary for completing landscape 

drawings and sprinkler systems are ideal. Physical skills 

necessary for lifting are required: 35-40 lbs more 

frequently (ex: fertilizer bags) and up to 75 lbs 

occasionally (ex: retaining wall blocks). Skill in operating 

a skid loader and tractor/snow blower (involving frequent 

twisting and turning motions with the back, head and 

neck) will be required. The abilities to work with and 

train student employees, prioritize and plan tasks, work 

on a ladder, lift 50+ pounds, and assist with event set up 

and tear down are required. Candidates must be detailoriented, 

be able to prioritize projects well, and have a 

valid Iowa driver’s license.

JACY MCALEXANDER’S FAMILY

Jacy McAlexander, the South Central 

Calhoun student whose jersey the West 

Sioux football team had the honor of 

carrying out during the championship 

game, had a tradition of collecting pop tabs 

for the Ronald McDonald House in 

Des Moines. The McAlexanders stayed 

nearly 300 nights there while Jacy battled 

Ewing’s sarcoma. Jacy died May 16, 2018. 

Today Jacy’s family and friends have set a 

goal to collect five tons of pop tabs 

by Jacy’s birthday, Sept. 5, 2019. 

Monthly pick-ups will be done by
