Wood Type Introduction<br />

The type of <strong>wood</strong> you use for your<br />

furniture determines the beauty and<br />

strength of the finished piece.<br />

At Hulta Design, we offer different <strong>types</strong> of<br />

<strong>wood</strong> and each has its own<br />

characteristics and properties.


Oak Wood<br />

Oak is a very popular hard<strong>wood</strong>, it is very hard<br />

wearing and heavy. It is known for having lovely<br />

open <strong>wood</strong> grain markings.<br />

An excellent choice for all kinds of <strong>wood</strong><br />

furniture.


Maple Wood<br />

Maple <strong>wood</strong> is a strong and durable <strong>wood</strong> type.<br />

As maple <strong>wood</strong> is so strong and moisture<br />

resistant, it is the ideal <strong>wood</strong> to withstand years of<br />

wear and tear. Maple <strong>wood</strong> is pale in color and<br />

has natural swirls and twists in the <strong>wood</strong> grain.


Walnut Wood<br />

Walnut is a hard<strong>wood</strong> known for its strength,<br />

straight grain and its rich chocolate brown<br />

color.<br />

Walnut can be a very versatile <strong>wood</strong>, offering<br />

a range of shades and grains to complement<br />

your décor


Beech Wood<br />

Beech is a hard, strong and heavy <strong>wood</strong>. It<br />

has a fine, tight grain and even texture.<br />

Beech <strong>wood</strong> is very light in color and has a<br />

high shock resistance. It is a popular <strong>wood</strong> for<br />

furniture and will give your room a warm<br />

feeling


Mahogany Wood<br />

Mahogany is an expensive hard<strong>wood</strong> and<br />

varies in color from a medium brown to a<br />

deep red brown, depending on its age.<br />

It is a very traditional, versatile and popular<br />

type of <strong>wood</strong>.


Teng Wood<br />

Teng <strong>wood</strong> is a characterful rich red-brown with<br />

dark-hued streaks. A very hard <strong>wood</strong>, it dries well<br />

and keeps its ‘luxury' color.<br />

Its durability makes it suited to heavy loadbearing<br />

and structural use in harbors, railway<br />

construction, and flooring


Golden Teak Wood<br />

Golden teak is one of the world's most valuable<br />

timbers, recognized for its unique durability and<br />

matchless beauty.<br />

Teak withstands all <strong>types</strong> of weather, is resistant<br />

to the harshest chemicals, and is unaffected by<br />

fungi, rot, and termites. It has an exceptionally<br />

pronounced grain best accentuated by<br />

transparent varnishes


Ash Wood<br />

Ash is a tough hard<strong>wood</strong> which is known for its<br />

excellent bending abilities.<br />

It is primarily used for bent pieces of furniture<br />

such as a chair with curved backrests. Ash is<br />

light brown in color with a straight grain


Cherry Wood<br />

Cherry <strong>wood</strong> is medium-weight and is hard<br />

and resilient. It is both strong and elastic.<br />

Cherry hard<strong>wood</strong> is a moderately durable<br />

<strong>wood</strong> and very resistant to rot and decay. It is<br />

moderately strong and has a medium ability to<br />

resist shock loads.


Pine Wood<br />

Pine is very affordable and lightweight with a<br />

pale finish which is great for staining. It is less<br />

durable <strong>wood</strong> compared to hard <strong>wood</strong>s such<br />

as maple or oak.<br />

Pine blends well with other <strong>wood</strong>s, making it<br />

ideal if you are looking for furniture that will<br />

match existing pieces in your home.


Red Oak Wood<br />

Red oak is a hard and heavy <strong>wood</strong> with<br />

moderate bending strength and stiffness. It has<br />

a high crushing strength and steam bends<br />

well.<br />

The timber can be stained and polished to an<br />

extremely attractive finish, which is one of the<br />

reasons it is becoming increasingly popular<br />

around the world


Acacia Wood<br />

Acacia is a tough hard<strong>wood</strong> with beautiful<br />

grains that will last for many years under the<br />

rigors of daily life.<br />

Acacia’s rustic charm harmonizes with almost<br />

any decor. Colors can range from light amber<br />

to dark mahogany, and no two are alike.


Poplar<br />

Poplar is a hard<strong>wood</strong> with medium-density ,<br />

shock resistance, stiffness, and compression<br />

values.<br />

The characteristics of poplar are its closed<br />

<strong>wood</strong> pores, even staining, durability, and<br />

greater strength.
