Everyone loves a good
love story — especially
around Valentine’s Day.
A few weeks ago, The
Lake Forest Leader asked
residents to tell us their
love stories as part of our
annual How We Met contest
for a chance to win a
prize.
Residents wrote in and
pulled at our heart strings
by telling us how they met
their valentine.
We heard some great
stories this year, but unfortunately
there can only
be one winner.
This year’s winner,
Barbara Vallaly, of Lake
Forest, will receive a gift
card to Francesca’s Intimo
in Lake Forest. The Lake
Forest Leader thanks
Francesca’s Intimo for
supporting the How We
Met Contest for the second
year in a row.
Vallaly told us how she
met her late husband at a
“house wrecking party”.
The full story is below:
I was single and living
in a studio apartment on
the 24th floor at Sandburg
Village in Chicago. One
Friday night in January,
1976, after teaching high
school students all day, I
got a call from my friend
Peggy. Did I want to go
out? I hesitated. Part of
me said no, but then I
said, “Well, we’re never
going to meet anyone
The Leader needs new requests
Returned cards
will ensure free
delivery of The
Leader
Staff Report
You may remember the
last time we took on this
project when we asked
you to send us an official
request to keep receiving
your free, award-winning
community newspaper,
The Lake Forest Leader.
The requests sent in last
time are expiring soon,
and we need a new round
from all residents to show
the U.S. Postal Service
that you want your hometown
newspaper.
The Leader, delivered
free to your home or business
every week, is mailed
by the U.S. Postal Service.
In order to keep a necessary
class of mail, The Leader is
required by the postal service
to collect requests from
recipients of the newspaper.
This special class of mail
enables us to continue to
deliver an award-winning
newspaper for free with priority
service.
The simplest way to return
your request is to go
to LakeForestLeader.com/
delivery and fill it out in
seconds.
Also, on Page 13, you
will find an ad containing
the form you need to fill
out and send back to us.
Please take a few seconds
to fill it out and return
the request to us at The
Leader. Doing so will ensure
that you continue to
receive The Leader free of
charge for three years.
Please do your part to
keep The Leader free of
charge and return the card
to: Leader Circulation, 60
Revere Dr., Ste 888, Northbrook,
IL 60062, or fax
them to (708) 326-9179.
Your information will be
kept completely confidential.
The Leader is a locally
owned hometown newspaper.
Its parent company,
22nd Century Media, was
founded in 2005. Since
that time, the company has
added 14 additional newspapers
and websites, with
coverage ranging from
Wilmette and Lake Forest
and Homer Glen and Tinley
Park. It is now the largest
newspaper group in the
southwest suburbs.
The Leader will be able
to better control its postal
costs with priority service
because of your part in obtaining
this important designation
by the U.S. Postal
Service.
Thank you in advance
from everyone at The
Leader.
