SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS
BULLYING: NO WAY!
Bullying is straight out harassment and must be
met head on
• if you are a victim, speak up and keep
speaking up until your parents and teachers
listen and act
• bullies must have their feeling of power over
you taken away forever
• if you see someone else being bullied speak
up.
Bullying can be beaten when you, your parents
and teachers work together
• your school will have a very clear policy on it.
• don’t blame yourself, refuse to accept it; the
bully has the problem.
If you are bullied in person
• use confident body language and look the
bully in the eye
• firmly tell him/her to stop
• don’t make a joke of it; it’s not
• leave the situation at once and tell a trusted
adult.
If you are bullied electronically
• don’t reply and save the message
• share it with parents and teachers
• put a block on the phone number and
address
• delete them as a friend on Facebook
• Facebook have an online report system, if you
are bullied use it.
Bullying is severe form of harassment, and any
of the list below is bullying, refuse to put up
with it
• name calling and putdowns
• spreading rumours
• “knocking” your learning standards
• criticizing your appearance
• making threats
• talking about your family
• leaving you out
• pushing and hitting
• spitting
• throwing things at you
• blocking your path
• invading your personal space
• making rude jokes about you
• staring at you
• sending unwanted texts, calls or emails
• posting negative things about you on social
media
• asking you for money
When you are bullied you may feel
* angry * helpless * no one cares
* sad * lonely * embarrassed
––
your inner self has been hurt.
Bullies will only go away when they are faced
by responsible adults
• your parents and teachers have the skills to
stop bullies
• always speak up, never, never, never put up
with it and say nothing
Always remember, it is not your problem
• it is the bully’s problem
• it is the bully that has to be made to change,
not you.
When reporting bullying
• describe what occurred accurately
• who was the bully?
• who was with him/her?
• when and how often has it happened?
• who was with you?
• have you done anything about it?
