MISSION STATEMENT 

The Butterfield Park District’s mission is to promote 

ongoing development of a park system providing 

recreational opportunities for all residents. Butterfield 

Park District strives to offer diversified programs and 

activities encompassing personal enjoyment contributing 

to self-fulfillment and enhancing the quality of life.

BOARD MEETINGS 

Park Board meetings are held on the second Thursday 

of the month (except for July) at 6:30pm at the 

Butterfield Park District Recreation & Aquatic Center. 

The public is welcome to attend. Board agendas are 

posted in the lobby of the recreation center 48 hours 

in advance of each meeting.

BRIAN MCGARRY MEMORIAL FUND 

Brian McGarry was a long time Butterfield East 

neighbor, Butterfield Park District supporter, and 

volunteer for HYBC youth baseball. “Friends of 

Brian McGarry,” along with the Park District, have 

recognized Brian by creating a permanent recognition 

at Kensington Park, renaming the large ball field.

with member park districts and to positively

CODE OF CONDUCT 

Violations of “Behavior Standards” or The Butterfield Park District’s “Code of Conduct” may result in the 

expulsion or suspension from a specific program or activity. Participation in behavior that may be 

construed as inappropriate and /or inappropriate sexual behavior, language or actions may be grounds 

for immediate removal from programs, as well as the potential for legal ramifications. 

Such ramifications resulting from violations will be carefully reviewed and subsequently administered at 

the sole discretion of the Executive Director of the Butterfield Park District and may also result in the loss or 

partial loss of fees paid. No harassment or bullying will be tolerated in the programs or services provided 

by the Butterfield Park District.

REGISTRATION 

The Butterfield Park District has an online registration 

system for activities, pool memberships, rentals, camps, 

and aquatics. With online registration, participants 

can view, register and pay for Butterfield Park District’s 

many activities, including athletics, trips, camps, 

aquatics, and tennis! You can manage aquatic passes 

and punch cards online, as well as being able to check 

availability of facilities. Registration forms may be 

found online at butterfieldpd.com. 

Registration is also accepted via fax, mail or drop 

off. Phone registration is not accepted. A lock box 

is located just outside the front entrance for your 

convenience. Payments can be made in the form 

of check, credit card, or cash (exact amount is 

appreciated). Online and faxed registrations are 

accepted with credit card only. 

Please register by the deadline date to ensure 

classes meet the minimum number of participants. 

Registration for all classes should be submitted 

no later than one week prior to the start of the 

program unless otherwise noted within the 

program description. The Park District goal is that 

each class will have enough participation to ensure the 

class will run. Signing up early as well as encouraging 

friends will help to accomplish this goal. 

The Butterfield Park District provides some programs 

and services for its residents at lower rates than those 

charged to non-residents. Please check your tax bill to 

determine if you are within residency of the District. 

Refunds 

• Classes canceled by the Park District will result in a 

full refund. 

• Cancellation by a participant must be done two 

business days in advance to qualify for a full refund. 

• Pool passes are non-refundable. 

• Withdrawal from a program is refunded only after 

the first class, if not satisfied, with a doctor’s note, 

or with evidence of a move with written request.

LATE OPENINGS & EARLY CLOSINGS 

In the event of a Butterfield Bullfrogs Home Swim Meet we will periodically 

have to shorten our hours of operation for public swim. During the 2019 

Butterfield Park District will host 5 home swim meets. Notifications will be 

placed throughout our Aquatics Center, at our Aquatic Customer Care Desk and 

posted outside our Aquatics Office. Updates will also be posted on Facebook 

and our website. 

Wednesday Swim Meets - Aquatic Center will close at 4:00pm 

Saturday Swim Meets – Aquatic Center will open at 1:00pm 

CLOSINGS 

The Butterfield Park District reserves the right to close the pool as deemed 

appropriate and necessary. The Aquatic Center may close for situations 

including, but not limited to: 

• Inclement Weather- thunder, lightning and heavy/continuous rain 

• Cold Air Temperatures- air temperature below 70 degrees 

• Low Attendance in the pool area – Less than 5 patrons for an hour 

• Conditions beyond our control – Mechanical, electrical, staff related issues, etc.

AQUATIC CENTER REGULATIONS 

1. Aquatics staff reserves the right to ask any pool patron to leave if he/she is not following 

the rules. 

2. All persons entering the pool must wear regulation swim wear. Swimmers must wear a 

swim suit with a liner. No cutoffs, shorts, or t-shirts are allowed in the pool. Plain white 

t-shirts are the only other clothing allowed in the water and must be worn with a swim suit. 

3. Please shower before entering the pool. 

4. Children ages 11 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian 

18 years or older. 

5. Show your ID or pay pool fee at pool desk before entering locker rooms. 

6. Glass bottles or containers of any type are not permitted in the locker rooms, 

concession area, or pool. 

7. Food is prohibited in the pool area. The patio is designed for refreshments and snacks. 

8. Smoking of any kind is prohibited. 

9. Street shoes are not permitted on deck. 

10. Any person with any communicable disease, cuts, bandages or open wounds will not be 

allowed in the pool. 

11. Rafts, arm floaties, inner tubes (except during special events), Personal Floatation devices 

sewn into the bathing suit, or lifejackets, etc. are prohibited from use UNLESS USCG 

APPROVED. Personal flotation devices provided by the district will be allowed only and 

are available at no charge. BPD will provide USCG approved PFD’s. 

12. Non-water balls, torpedo toys, fins, and snorkels are not allowed in the pool. (Exception 

to fins/snorkels is for instructor led classes provided by the district only.) 

13. Due to increase of injury and slippery surface please refrain from running on the pool 

deck or in the locker room area. 

14. During the 15 minute break, everyone must clear the pool with the exception of adults 

(18 and older) who may stay in to swim. 

15. Loitering in the locker rooms is prohibited. Persons using the locker rooms must be 

changing or using the facilities. 

16. Strollers are not allowed to remain on the pool deck. Please park and lock wheels on 

grass areas only. 

17. Lounge chairs of any type are not permitted in the water. Please keep all pool chairs on 

the deck. 

18. The Leisure Pool is for children age 7 and under with direct supervision only. 

19. Children less than 36” will be permitted in the pool during adult swim with an adult. One 

child per adult. 

20. Non-swimmers and beginners are required to use the shallow end of the pool and must 

be supervised by an adult at all times. 

21. Disposable diapers are not allowed in the pool. We suggest a swim diaper. 

22. Diving is not permitted from the sides of the pool. Diving is permitted off the diving 

board only. 

23. Immediate Expulsion and Suspension will result from the following actions: 

• Throwing pool staff or another patron into the pool 

• Use or possession of drugs or alcohol 

• Vandalism of pool or pool areas 

• Refusal to follow rules and regulations 

24. Use of cell phones or tablets in locker rooms is not permitted. Use of electronic devices for 

recording of other patrons is not permitted in aquatics area. 

25. Scuba masks are not permitted.

LITTLE SWIMMERS LESSONS 

Little Swimmers Lessons is an introduction to water for your 

young one. It is a great way for parents to work together with 

their child under instructor supervision. Through games and 

activities we make this experience fun so children learn to 

enjoy the water. As children become more comfortable in the 

water, Level One swim lesson skills will be introduced. One 

child per parent. Children must wear water pants.

LEARN TO SWIM 

This program has a new format for all levels! Learn to Swim at the Butterfield Park District 

emphasizes stroke development through five levels. Children will be tested on the first day of 

lessons and placed in one of the five skill levels. They will learn a range of skills from supported 

floating and kicking on their fronts and backs, to being instructed in proper breath control, 

treading water, develop confidence and aquatic safety skills. No lessons July 4.

PRIVATE SWIM & DIVE LESSONS 

Private lessons are a great way to accelerate the learning process! Our private lessons 

are 30 minutes long and are designed to provide extra attention to the individual 

student. Our instructors will create a lesson plan specific to the needs of the individual. 

Private lessons are also great for those already on swim or dive team to focus on and 

strengthen their technique for an upcoming meet! No lessons July 4.

The Butterfield Bullfrogs Swim Team, premier DuPage 

Swim Club, offers children the chance to excel with their 

swimming talent while enjoying team fun and spirit. Open to 

swimmers at both recreational and competitive levels. The only requirement is 

the ability to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) without taking a break. As a 

member of the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference, the team swims 10 dual meets 

which occur on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. At the end of the 

season, "A" and "B" conference championship meets are held. Swimmers are 

divided into age groups for practice and meets. Birth certificates are required for 

all new swimmers.Meets within the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference are only 

possible with the help and support of parents. Parents and guardians are required 

to sign up to volunteer at 5 of the 10 dual meets. Fees for swim team include: 

qualified coaches, practice sessions, Black and Gold in-house meet, team events 

hosted at Butterfield Park District, 10 dual meets, either "A" or "B" conference 

meet, aquatics membership and year end recognition. Optional activities may 

require additional fees for participation.

CAMP SUPER TOT 

Preschool children ages 3-6 will enjoy a fun introduction to summer camp this summer held at the 

Butterfield Park District. Camp Super Tot will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 

9:00-noon. Our staff is highly attuned to the insecurities of small children who may be going to camp for 

the first time. Throughout each day, emphasis is placed on learning social skills, taking turns, following 

directions, and learning independence. Arts and crafts, games, stories, songs, outdoor play, and snack 

make up the activities each day. The camp has a staff to camper ratio of 1/6 and is limited to a maximum 

of 24 children in each two week session. All children must be toilet trained. Camp activities also include 

YogaKids every Tuesday, pool time every Wednesday, and PeeWee Sportsters every Thursday. No online

CITs will go through a series of meetings and 

training's before summer camp begins. Planning 

meetings will be required for CITs to attend

enhance the skills and knowledge to become a leader

Planting the Seeds of Lifelong Learning 

The Learning Nest Preschool Program incorporates 

the Illinois State Board of Education Early Childhood 

Learning Standards and Jolly Phonics to educate your 

child. In addition to nurturing the development of 

your child’s social and emotional growth, we have 

put in place a program that builds a foundation 

necessary to support your child’s future academic 

challenges. Preschool runs continuously throughout

and is designed for children ages 2 - 3. Emphasis is 

on developing social skills and transitioning from 

home to school. Language development is supported 

through daily activities that include ABC's, counting, 

story time, games, music & movement, gym or outside 

time, and arts and crafts. Individualized "Play & Learn" 

Play Dough Mats will be sent home weekly to reinforce 

skills and concepts being introduced in the classroom.

our curriculum focuses on different levels of ability, 

individual needs and learning styles. Student 

activities are designed to promote each child's 

self-esteem and a positive outlook toward
