the World One Person at a Time
Allison Massari
Healthcare Keynote Speaker, Executive Coach, Celebrated Artist,
Burn Survivor
Allison Massari knows that you have the power to transform lives.
As the survivor of two life-threatening car accidents, one where she
was severely burned and suffered second and third degree burns on
over 50% of her body, Allison has a deep understanding of what it
takes to heal.
With sensitivity and compassion born from her experience, Allison
shines light on the provider’s immense value to a patient who is
suffering, reinvigorating employees and helping heal burnout in
the workplace.
“The power of what you
do goes far beyond the
technical part of your
job. You are healing the
places medicine cannot
touch. In fact, YOU are
the medicine.”
The 2019 Dwyer Lecture
Making Imaging AI Safe,
Effective, and Humane
Charles E. Kahn Jr.,
MD, MS, FACR, FSIIM
Professor and Vice Chair, Radiology, Senior Fellow, Institute for
Biomedical Informatics, University of Pennsylvania Health System
The past several years have seen remarkable progress in the
hardware, software, and datasets needed to advance the field of
machine learning, part of the broader study of artificial intelligence
(AI). That progress has engendered excitement around the
opportunities for research and commercialization of machine
learning systems for medical imaging.
Whether you are a physician, an imaging informatics scientist, a
system developer or implementer, it’s critical that we all consider
how these new technologies will meet the needs of patients and how
they might change the way medicine is practiced. This presentation
will discuss the challenges of assuring that the AI systems we deploy
are accurate, safe, and effective. We also will consider some of the
ethical dimensions of applying AI to medical imaging.
“The goal of AI in medical
imaging is not to replace
humans, but to extend
human abilities to provide
medical care.”
— Kahn
