The group has therefore suspended some of its officials for question<strong>in</strong>g the decision of the NWC <strong>in</strong> suspend<strong>in</strong>g Okorocha. Recall that shortly after the Presidential polls, the party's NWC met and clamped an <strong>in</strong>def<strong>in</strong>ite suspension on G<strong>over</strong>nors Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Ibukunle Amosun of Ogun State, accus<strong>in</strong>g them of <strong>in</strong>volv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> anti-party activities. The two g<strong>over</strong>nors had sponsored their preferred g<strong>over</strong>norship candidates <strong>in</strong> different political parties when they failed to secure APC tickets for them. However, some officials of the PSC has picked holes <strong>in</strong> the suspension, particularly <strong>in</strong> Okorocha’s case and went ahead to issue the NWC ultimatum to lift the suspension on him. The members who questioned the suspension <strong>in</strong>cluded the Director of Inter-Party Affairs, South East, Robert Ngwu; National Legal Adviser, Ejikeme Ugwu; and Director, Political Matters, Comrade Maxwel Okoye. They said the suspension was a ploy to disorganise Ndigbo ahead of the 2023 presidential election when the party would zone the position to the South-East. But the South-East Zonal coord<strong>in</strong>ator of the group, Mr. Chamberla<strong>in</strong> Adiaso has disowned the officials that challenged the suspension, say<strong>in</strong>g that they did not have the support of the group and further described them as unserious members of the committee. Accord<strong>in</strong>g to him, they are “cheap people <strong>in</strong> the committee”, po<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g out that as the leader of the PSC <strong>in</strong> the South-East, any meet<strong>in</strong>g held beh<strong>in</strong>d him was null and void. He said: “APC is a discipl<strong>in</strong>ed party and has the NWC as the highest decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g body of the party. Anyone who questions the authority of the NWC is also question<strong>in</strong>g the powers of President Muhammadu Buhari as the leader of the APC." Adiaso also commended Okorocha accuses Imo REC of destroy<strong>in</strong>g democracy Meanwhile, Imo State G<strong>over</strong>nor, Rochas Okorocha has accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Imo State, Professor Francis Ezeonu of wreck<strong>in</strong>g democracy <strong>in</strong> the state. Okorocha alleged that the manner he handled the 2019 <strong>elections</strong> <strong>in</strong> the state showed that he was brought to Imo after the 2015 election to return People's Democratic Party, PDP, to power <strong>in</strong> the state.
