Timaya rever<strong>be</strong>rates at industry nite FOLLOWING the release of his 7 th studio project ‘Chulo Vi<strong>be</strong>s’, veteran singer, Timaya was hosted at Industry Nite for a listening party of the new album. The Hard Rock Cafe, Lagos, was packed to the rafters on Thursday, as people turned out en mass to celebrate and support the artiste. Timaya got the crowd warmed up by performing some of his greatest hits, and had everyone singing along. The artiste then followed this with his traditional praise session, <strong>be</strong>fore <strong>be</strong>ing joined on stage by Harry Song to perform ‘Samankwe’. However, in a chat with Showtime, the singer who has since remained radio silent on the matter finally set the records straight. “It was an artistic move, a Photoshop. I didn’t even have any cash with me during the photo shoot. But you know people must talk, whether you do right or wrong. Banji, my manager, won’t even allow that”, he said. Heaven is the most important thing to me. God is the most important to me. You can never experience God in His full form and regret it. The Bible says ‘whoever puts his hand to the plough and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God’. So once you experience Christ in His true form you will understand what you have <strong>be</strong>en missing in life. I don’t think there’s anybody that can tell me they have encountered the Holy Spirit and regretted it. Find that person and I will give him/her one million naira”, he said. Speaking about his prolonged absence from the music scene, he shed light on why he has <strong>be</strong>en away for so long. “Yes it’s <strong>be</strong>en a while <strong>be</strong>cause I took some time off from making music to focus on other things like business, my new relationship with God. In a chat, Slimcase whose latest hit, ‘Azaman’ featuring 2Baba, Perruzzi, Larry Gaaga and DJ Neptune currently tops music charts across the nation, told Showtime that contrary to popular <strong>be</strong>lief, he doesn’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, Indian hemp (Cannabis) or do drugs. “I don’t smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs I am only a good actor”, he asserted. All the others are too proud; they usually look down on people and if you look down on me I’ll feel pity for you and also look down on you. I don’t respect people who look down on me. But I still intend working with a few other artistes who would probably not look down on me.” She added that <strong>be</strong>sides 9ice, Burna Boy and Wizkid’s music, every other music is crap. “If I’m to descri<strong>be</strong> the kind of music we hear today, judging by the kind of music I grew up listening to, I’ll pick the likes of 9ice, Burna Boy and Wizkid <strong>be</strong>cause I’ve very limited blown songs”, he said. The singer who struggled to gain recognition on the music scene for a decade recounted how he was tempted to quit music when he wasn’t getting the desired results. “Sure, I was tempted to quit every day. Everybody in the music industry once had that feeling of quitting but passion for the art has <strong>be</strong>en the drive.” Besides 9ice, Burna Boy, Wizkid’s music, every other music is crap - Motunrayo Kuti A’list artistes that I like.
