Kinder News
It’s been a busy start to our Kinder Term with plenty on
and lots of energy required by our Team to keep up with
the children’s enthusiasm to learn through their play. We
welcome back Educators Jodie, Amanda and Kylie in the
funded group and we welcome a new Educator Bianca
Franken to the role of Pre–kinder teacher, this group
attends every Wednesday with the support of Lisa
continuing on as the Assistant Educator. Next Term this
session will be extended to 1pm giving the children a
little extra time and will include a lunchtime, so don’t
forget to bring the extra food. There are a few spaces left
for any new families wanting to start, please contact the
kindergarten for more information.
In the funded Kinder program the children are exploring
all activities, role playing dogs and cats, painting
rainbows, imagining pirates and finding treasures,
squeezing clay and enjoying the puzzle challenges. We
have just had a snake awareness program. We are
enjoying regular visits every Tuesday from Mr.Trotter
and the Grade 6 students who are spending time playing
and making things, with the children. They are helping to
create Easter hats and ears to parade and to celebrate the
end of Term one.
Thanks to Wes Humpage for running another successful
shift at Golden Plains festival, this is a huge part of our
fundraising for the year.
A fond farewell to the lovely Kylie Smith who has been
a part of our team for 5 years and is moving onto new
ventures, we will miss her smiley face around here and
clean kinder but we welcome Joy who will make things
spotless for a little while….we wish all our families a
Happy Easter, we hope you have some family fun over
the school holidays. Term two begins on the 23rd April.

The seniors set off from Meredith on Monday March 18 for
a day bus trip. First stop was the You Yangs for morning
tea. The bus was virtually able to park on the top of the
You Yangs. We set up for morning tea in the picnic area
with spectacular views of Geelong, Lara and Little River.
Facilities and access to the You Yangs have certainly
changed over the years, for the better.
A wonderful array of sandwiches, cakes, biscuits with tea
and coffee was consumed by members at the morning tea.
The food was prepared by Di and Carol and much
appreciated.
Our lovely Faye Hedt had arranged a visit to Rothwell Run,
a resort style accommodation for dogs and cats at Little
River. Stunning is the word to describe this place. A guided
tour left us breathless. Lucky are the animals that get to
stay there. Millions of dollars have been spent to set up the
property with nothing left to chance.
We then set off to the Little River Hotel for lunch. This
hotel has been around forever and holds some happy
memories for some of us who visited it in our youth.
Members were treated to a delicious two course meal.
Thanks to Kylie, the proprietor and her staff who made us
feel very welcome.
Well fed we headed to the Lara Nursery. It is a tropical
jungle and members spent hours exploring the gardens. So,
foot sore and well fed, we headed for home. Many thanks
to Faye, Dianne and Carol for organizing a fantastic day
and, of course, Allan our driver. What a great team!
Anzac Day
The ANZAC day parade on the 25th
of April is at 9.45am with the Service
at 10.00am. and March at the
Memorial Hall and Cenotaph on the
corner of Staughton and McLeod
Streets.
