ADO EKITI— Three
butchers have been
arrested by Ekiti State
Police Command for
allegedly stabbing a
barber, Ajibola Falegan,
at a viewing centre in
Ado Ekiti.
Falegan, an indigene
of Erinjiyan Ekiti in
Ekiti West Local
Government Area of the
state, was allegedly
attacked by the
assailants at the
viewing centre located
along Nova Road,
Baisiri, Wednesday
evening.
The suspects are
being detained at a
police station located
along new Iyin Road in
Ado-Ekiti.
The 33-year-old
Falegan, who is now
receiving treatment at a
private medical centre
in the state, had a deep
cut in the head and
other parts of his body
from his attackers.

Narrating his ordeal to
journalists on his
hospital bed, yesterday,
Falegan said the
suspects were having
altercation with a
brother at the viewing
centre before he got
there, only for them to
pounce on him.
Falegan said the
attackers allegedly stole
his Tecno L9+ phone
worth N70,000 and
cash sum of N10,000
during the attack, which
he described as
unwarranted.
The Police Public
Relations Officer, Ekiti
Command, DSP Caleb
Ikechukwu, who
confirmed the
incident,said the
command won’t tolerate
any act of hooliganism
and disruption of public
peace by any individual
or group.
He said the
perpetrators had been
arrested and would be
charged to court after
the investigations must
have been concluded.

Man, 65, arrested for defiling
10-yr-old girl in Ogun

ABEOKUTA—A 65-year-old
man, Sulaiman Rauf, has been
arrested by men of Ogun State Police
Command for allegedly having
carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl
(name withheld).
Police Public Relations Officer in the
state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who
disclosed this in a statement made
available to newsmen in Abeokuta,
yesterday, said the arrest of the
suspect followed a complaint lodged
by the father of the victim, one
Fahinhun Matthew, who reported at
Idi-Iroko divisional headquarters that
the suspect, who is living in their
neighbourhood sent his daughter on
an errand.
Oyeyemi further said Matthew told
the police that when her daughter
came back, she was lured into his
room where he forcefully had carnal
knowledge of her.
He said: “When the girl came out
of the suspect’s room, she quickly
informed her father of what the
suspect did to her, hence the report.

Ritualists cut off 50-year-old palm oil seller's
breasts in Ondo •Mother of 3 found dead in her room

AKURE—A 50-year-old palm
oil seller, identified as lya
Dunsi, was reportedly murdered
by ritualists, who removed her
two breasts in Arigidi-Akoko in
Akoko North West Local
Government Area of Ondo State.
This came as another middle
aged woman, identified as
Toyin, was found dead in her
room with two calabashes said
to contain concoction in Akure,
the Ondo State capital.
Late lya Dunsi, according to
police source, was kidnapped
and her corpse later found
where it was dumped in a
nearby bush at her Odiolowo,
Arigidi-Akoko residence.
Her assailants, according to
police source, tied a rope on one
of her legs and pulled her to the
bush, which is not more than a
distance of 100 kilometrs to her
house.
Vanguard gathered that those
going to the farm early in the
morning discovered her corpse
and raised the alarm.
She was reportedly stripped
naked by the ritualists before her
two breasts were removed.
Recall that similar ritual
killings took place in lkare Akoko
late last year in which a woman
was killed and her private parts,
including her breast removed.
Also, an eight-year-old pupil
of St George’s Anglican Primary
School, Okeagbe Akoko was
murdered for ritual purposes.

Mother of 3 found
dead in her room
Meanwhile, the middle
aged woman and mother of
three found dead in her
room was a food seller at
Tipper park area, along
Ondo road in Akure.
Sources said her
neighbours and her
customers became worried
when she remained
indoors when she was
expected to have started
selling food early in the
morning to them.
After several knocks on
her door and no response,
the neighbours reportedly
broke into her room and
saw her lifeless body with
two calabashes by the side
of her bed.
The deceased, according,
to her neighbours lived
alone in one of the rooms
in the building.
Neighbours interviewed
alleged that it was
discovered through her
telephone that she made
two calls between 1 am and
3 am to the same person
whose identity was
registered as Alfa on her
phone.
They said the deceased
had been having issues
with her husband over the
custody of their three
children.
The court case, Vanguard
was informed, was
adjourned to 18th of this
month.
A visit to the residence of
the deceased indicated
that her corpse was yet to
be evacuated to the
mortuary as at press
time.Vanguard was
informed that the
neighbours had sent
messages to her family but
none had shown up to
arrange how her corpse
would be moved to the
mortuary.
Bees attack, kill Customs
officer

SENIOR officer of
Nigeria Customs
Service has died after he
was attacked by a swarm of
bees while on patrol duty.
Abba Abubakar, an officer
operating at the Seme
Customs Command, along
Ashipa axis of Badagry,
Lagos, met his untimely
death, Tuesday, after he was
stung by the bees, the
agency said in a statement.
“With sadness and deep
sorrow, the Seme Area
Command announces the
death of our colleague, CSC
Abba, A.,” Saidu Abdullahi,
the spokesperson of the
Seme Customs command,
said in the statement.

FCTA
evacuates 19
children from
Zuba
orphanage

ABUJA— THE Federal
Capital Territory
Administration, FCTA,
yesterday, evacuated 19
children from Famouskids
Orphanage, in Tungan Maje
area of Zuba, Gwagwalada
Area Council, Abuja.
According to the FCTA, the
action was carried out over
what it described as alleged
negligence and other
nefarious acts.
The evacuation was done by
Social Development
Secretariat, SDS, of the FCTA,
which officials, accompanied
by joint team of security
personnel, stormed and
sealed off the premises of the
orphanage, which also runs
a school in the area.
It was gathered that
Famouskids orphanage had
25 children as inmates, but
only 19 whose ages are
between four and 17 years
were met at the time of the
evaluation exercise.
Speaking with journalists
during the exercise, SDS’s
Acting Secretary, Hajiya
Safiya Umar, explained that
the action followed a request
by the police authorities in the
area, asking the secretariat to
evacuate the children from the
hitherto orphanage home.
According to Umar,
following information from the
police that the owner of the
orphanage, Nkechi Udoh,
had abandoned the home,
SDS was given a directive to
pick up the kids and transfer
them to a government facility
pending when she would
return from wherever she may
have travelled to.
Umar explained that
preliminary report revealed
that most of the children were
brought to Abuja from Cross
River and Akwa Ibom states.

“He has never failed to report
at his duty post daily. We
regret to lose such a gallant
officer,” Mr Abdullahi said.
The Yobe State-born officer
was survived by his wife and
children.
