Historical society<br />
The Tinley Park Historical Society Landmark Chapel<br />
and Museums are nestled within Downtown Tinley.<br />
Built in 1884, the quaint chapel boats the beautiful<br />
stained glass and a pressed tin ceiling. It is the perfect<br />
venue for weddings, memorial services, civic events<br />
and other small gatherings. The hall can hold 60<br />
people, and with an attached kitchen it is convenient<br />
for the fully catered party or a simple pot of coffee.<br />
The Tinley Park Historical Society maintains two<br />
museums that exhibit relics from the history of Tinley<br />
Park. Visitors browsing the historical museum located<br />
at the rear of the chapel will find exhibits detailing the<br />
early beginnings of the fire department, local school<br />
district, railroad, and windmill. The domestic’s room<br />

showcases a number of early bridal gowns, accessories,<br />
and clothing. The Native American display showcases<br />
relics found in Tinley Park and the Sister Cities display<br />
features items from Sister City, Budingen, Germany.<br />
Located adjacent to the chapel is the Schoolhouse Museum.<br />
A replica of one of the earliest one-room schoolhouses<br />
in the area, this building houses a reference library, and<br />
memorabilia from display cases exhibiting relics of home and<br />
farm life, early church, school, business, and military civic.<br />
