Muhammadu Buhari
has said his administration
will not rest until the
remaining abducted
Chibok girls are back and
reunited with their families,
just as parents of the
abducted school girls have
called on him (Buhari) to
scale up actions aimed at
securing the release of the
119 girls still in the Boko
Haram captivity.
The president said this in
a series of tweets, yesterday,
to commemorate the fifth
year since the girls were
abducted from Chibok,
Borno state.
He said, “Today marks
five years since the
abduction of our Chibok
daughters. We have
succeeded in bringing back
107 of them, but we will not
rest until all the remaining
girls are back and reunited
with their families. I made
this promise when I
became President, and I
will keep it.
“We will never give up on
our missing daughters,
including Leah Sharibu;
and all the other people
held hostage by Boko
Haram. In the last four years
our security agencies have
successfully rescued
thousands of captives, and
they will not relent until
every captive is free.
“It gladdens our hearts to
see the progress being
made by the young women
rescued from Boko Haram.
We celebrate their courage
& determination to defy the
evil ideology of the
terrorists, by continuing to
pursue their education.
There is no doubt that the
world is inspired by them.
“I extend our best wishes
to all the Chibok girls in
various schools in Nigeria
and around the world.
Special congratulations to
Kauna Yaga Bitrus, who
has excelled in her college
in Maine, USA, and will
very soon be receiving an
‘Against All Odds Award’
from her school.”

dismisses el-rufai's objection

Industrial Court, NIC,
sitting in Kaduna has
dismissed a preliminary
objection filed by Kaduna
State Government seeking
to stop the suit instituted by
the Nigeria Union of Local
Government Employee,
NULGE over plan to
declare some of its
members in the state
redundant.
NULGE had dragged the
state government before the
court over an Executive
Order, Kaduna State Local
Government Council
(Restructuring and staffing
Order) enacted by
Governor Nasir el-Rufai in
217 to limit the number of
workers local government
in the state can employ.
The union claimed that
with the governor’s
executive order, over 4,410
of its members employed by
the local governments in
the state are set to be
declared redundant.The
Kibaku Area Development
Association KADA, the
umbrella association of the
Chibok people on the
occasion of the 5th
anniversary of the
abduction of the girls
begged Buhari to keep his
promise to rescue the girls.

Iliya said it was a sad day
for the yet to be rescued
girls, their parents and the
entire Kibaku community of
Borno State as “no one
union prayed the court to
declare the order illegal
and unconstitutional on the
ground that el-Rufai being
a civilian governor lacks the
legislative power to make
laws and is limited to
execute laws made by the
state House of Assembly.
Joined in the suit as codefendants
are; Speaker,
Kaduna State House of
Assembly, Attorney-
General
and
would have imagined in
2014 that five long years
and counting, some 112 of
these girls will remain in
captivity or indeed
unaccounted for.
“This situation is unacceptable
to us in Kibaku, so we use this
opportunity to once again call on
the Buhari led Federal
Government to finish up the job
of rescuing the remaining girls
and indeed all abducted persons
from the Boko Haram terrorists,”
he demanded.

The state governor and other
defendants in their preliminary
objections however asked the
court to dismiss the suit on the
ground that the National
Industrial Court lacks jurisdiction
to adjudicate on matters relating
to determination of any question
as to the interpretation of any
provision of the constitution.
Kogi West: Why I want election

general elections, Senator
Smart Adeyemi, Kogi West,
, has said his decision to
challenge the declaration of
Senator Dino Melaye as
winner of the 2019 Senate
election in Kogi West, was
because the result
announced was not the true
reflection of the votes cast,
but one allegedly
manipulated by the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP.
Adeyemi spoke weekend
at the inauguration of the
National/House of
Assembly Election Petition
Tribunal for Kogi State
sitting at Court 3,
Magistrate Court, Wuze
zone, Abuja which had
Justice O. A. Chijoke as
chairman of the three -man
panel.
Adeyemi claimed there
were clear indication of
alterations, cancelations,
manipulations and other
irregularities in the result
declared by the
Independent National
Electoral Commission,
INEC.
Aside that, he contended
that INEC acted contrary to
the February 15, 2019 Kogi
High Court judgment
which declared that
elections collation and other
matters regarding Kogi
West should be carried out
at the district headquarters
in Kabba and not in Lokoja.
According to him, “While
we were gathered in
Kabba, we were surprised
when we heard that the
collation of result has been
taking to Lokoja. We hold
bold to say that the change
of venue for the result
collation gave the PDP
opportunity to alter and
manipulate the result on
their way to Lokoja. The
case which Justice
Okorowo made the ruling
for collation of result to be
held at the district
headquarters in Kabba was
instituted by Dino Melaye
and the PDP; It certainly
call for concerns that they
can now sit comfortably for
the change of venue.”
The former President of
Nigeria Union of
Journalists, NUJ, alleged
that there were clear
evidences in some local
government areas that the
number of vote cast
exceeded the total number
of Permanent Voter’ Cards,
PVC, distributed in those
council areas.
Useni wants Lalong's
victory nullified

Jeremiah Useni has filed a
petition at the Governorship
election tribunal in Jos,
asking the tribunal to
declare Independent
National Electoral
Commission, INEC’s
declaration of Governor
Simon Lalong of the All
Progressives Congress,
APC, as the winner of that
elections,as unlawful.

Atiku pays tribute to late Justice
Mamman Nadir

President of Nigeria,
Atiku Abubakar, has said
with the death of former
President of the Court of
Appeal, Justice Mamman
Nasir, the Galadiman
Katsina, the country has lost
one of its most respected
and decent judges in its
history.
In a tribute to Nasir, Atiku
Abubakar said he received
the death of the former
President of the Court of
Appeal with “profound
shock and grief,” noting
“he died at a time his
valuable advice and
wisdom were needed by
the country.”
According to Atiku, “The
history of the Nigerian
judiciary cannot be written
without a mention of the
enormous contributions of
the late Nasir to the
development of judiciary in
the country.”
The former Vice President
described Nasir “as a remarkable
gentleman who
lived a simple life after his
retirement and devoted his
energy to the service of his
people as the District Head
of Malumfashi in Katsina
State.”
Atiku said the deceased
“identified with his people,
their aspirations and
development by taking the
job of a District Head after
serving the country as Court of
Appeals President.”

23rd 2019 as unlawful,
undue, null and void, and
of no effect. Senator Useni,
together with the Peoples
Democratic Party is praying
the tribunal to nullify
Lalong’s return and to
order INEC to withdraw his
Certificate of Return.
“The petition points out
that the PDP candidate was
duly and validly elected
and ought to be returned
as the winner of the election
in Plateau State, having
polled the highest number
of lawful votes cast and
having satisfied the
constitutional requirements of
the said election. It therefore
wants the tribunal to order INEC
to issue Senator Useni with a
Certificate of Return as the duly
elected governor of Plateau
State."
