Martin Becker is one of the „shooting
stars“ of the German customizing
scene. His clean and sometimes extreme
custom projects have caught
the eye of the Custom Chrome Europe
team not just since his CUSTOM-
BIKE 2016 „Build-off“ winning bike
„Murder One“, a tribute to Motörhead
and Lemmy Kilmister. MB-Cycles is
not limited to modify Harley-Davidsons,
which is another „plus“ on his
list – and his bikes, as radical as they
often seem, are great „riders“. Which
is definitely a major point on the „to
do list“ of CCE‘s 2018 Bolt On And
Ride bikes. Martin is usually not the
„bolt on“ type of customizer, so it
took some convincing to talk him into
building his first CCE bike. But then,
CCE let the leash hang loose, so there
was enough freedom for him to create
what he can do best: Build a stunning
street machine for the road!
If you look at a map of Germany, in particular
the area around Heidelberg and the Rhine
river valley, you will find a lot of well-known
names of German customizers that have
made it into the „who is who“ of German customizing.
Martin Becker of MB-Cycles yet
has to make his way into the international
headlines, but in Germany, he has already
achieved a „cult“ status. CCE‘s choice for
building this year´s CCE „Bolt On And Ride“
Softail did not come as a surprise – but while
the „... and Ride“ part of the sentence fits
MB‘s attitude perfectly, the first two words are
not really his world.

If there is one slogan that characterizes his
bikes, it rather would be „Bolt OFF And Ride“,
many of Martin‘s creations are defined by the
„minimisation“ of components, eliminating
everything unnecessary for riding the bastard.
The clean look is achieved by removing everything
dispensable – and NOT replacing it by
other components. But his passion for „clean
look“ also attracts the attention of everybody
who passes his creations – including the Custom
Chrome Europe team.

the FLSTC „Heritage Softail Classic“. The
plushy floorboard equipped touring version of
the Softail Twin Cam, a solid cornerstone of
the Harley-Davidson model line for decades,
is likely to be his „nightmare“ when it comes
to customization – because almost every part
of this bike had to be exchanged! Which he
did ...

The „Bolt Off...“ part of this build was ruthless:
Everything but frame, swingarm and engine
was dismantled and disposed. There it was: A
naked (unrolling) chassis and the drive train,
ready to be reborn in modern „New School“
interpretation, ready to rock the road. Martin
took the same approach as on his famed
„Murder One“, de-radicalizing the theme to a
more replicable concept that could be aprehended
by other customizers – there is no
question that CCE‘s intention is to sell parts,
but inspiring bikes do the job much better
than any product news. The parts list of this
project is long, very long and VERY detailled.
The restyling of the rolling chassis started
with the wheels: RevTech‘s „Nitro“ design at
the front end and a “RevPro” full disc wheel
at the rear were asking for a modified sus-

low riding position. A Progressive Suspension
lowering kit does the job at the rear while
the bigger 21 inch diameter at the front called
for shortened fork tubes in combination
with raked Arlen Ness triple trees. Completely
exchanged brake system featuring Wilwood
rotors and Performance Machine „Black Ops“
calipers with all accompanying components

add another dozen positions on the list. The
front fork is modified from the stock part but
equipped with stronger Eibach „Heavy Duty“
springs and a Daytona Japan steering dampener
has been added. Downtube covers
are the stock parts, only painted black. The
small fairing around CCE‘s 5 3/4‘‘ Bates Style
headlight is Cult-Werk‘s V-Rod front mask kit,
adapted and modified for the task by MB-Cycles.

The tank is one of those parts that show the
magic „MB touch“, which is rather a „no show“
in this case. Of course, the stock two tank
halves were swapped – for a one-piece „Fat
Bob“ fuel reservoir. But that wasn‘t the end:
Lowered by and fitted with a weld-in fuel cap
by „Blechfee“, the Fat Bob reservoir also had
to be equipped with a Sportster type fuel pump
and adapted for the Softail frame. Which needed
the re-routing of the speedo to a motogadget
unit in the fairing and re-configuration
of the injection system and electronic equipment
under the tank. With the seat much lower
than stock and the modified Easyriders Japan
„Extreme Smooth“ tailend, there was little

and other electric components, so they had to
fit under the flat tank. Adding up the worktime
of tank and sheet metal parts, you may get
a second hand motorbike for the worktime.
Looking at the fender, the remarkable fact is
the absence of tail/brakelight, which are now
situated in the Kellermann „Atto“ indicators.
Even though they are „doubled“, means two
indicators on each flank, they are almost invisible!
The „Atto“ indicators are a marvel of
modern day LED technology – and they are
LEGAL! You HAVE to write that in big letters,
because if you see them you wouldn‘t believe
it! While the brightness of the LEDs is undisputed,
the chances that clothing or dirt from
the road may hide them is always worth to
check them when mounting the ride. Not only

Seating position is much different to the relaxed
touring ride of the original Heritage
Softail Classic, but the original floorboard
position allowed a mid mount combination of
the Easyriders Japan „Mid Control Kit“ with
Joker Machine serrated footpegs, offering the

aggressive look wanted. To adjust the
height on both sides, Martin developed
and machined his own adapter for the
right mounting bracket. The riding position
does prefer smaller sized people,
riding position is „Dragstyle“. No doubt
about that!

The early 96 Cubic Inch Twin Cam of
2008 is not really „the burner“ to race
on the next dragstrip, but better than
the original 88 and by far more powerful
than the Evolution motor. Engine
upgrades for this project are predominantely
of optical nature, as the covers
were swapped for Roland Sands Design
covers on the Rocker boxes and
clear Cam Cover.

The primary cover on the left side is a
new EMD prototype part, reminiscent
of the 1936 Knucklehead primary –
now already in production and in stock
at Custom Chrome Europe in different
versions in black and bare aluminum.
You may look for the EMD „B-Boy“ primary
covers. On the right motor side,
Joker Machine‘s „Omega“ air filter offers
a perfect match to the finned RSD
parts – and the exhaust system is a
new combination of BSL prototype pipes
with a homologated Dr. Jekill & Mr.
Hyde muffler system. „Homologated“ in
this case partially, since the muffler comes
from Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde‘s BMW
parts program. But knowing the quite
active Dutch manufacturer, it won‘t be
long ‚till this setup will be Harley-conform
too.

There is much more in this project than
what is visible on photos, limited to two
dimensions. Check out the pushbuttons
in the triple trees and minimized
pushbutton switches on the handlebars.
Note the clever re-routing of
cables to hide them from view where
ever possible. Every detail on this bike
is carefully executed and built to perfection.
And all components have been
homologated. No doubt that this is one
„Bolt On And Ride“ bike that will see
extensive use in the coming months
– and the first ride-out at Mecrin‘s Old
School Swap Meet and Bike Show underlined
the „hard riding“ capabilities of
Marin Becker‘s creation. This ain‘t no
machine for the faint-hearted – this is a
hardcore ride!

And Ride“ spring tour into Lorraine.
Almost every year, CCE‘s „Bolt On And Ride“ bikes are ridden
and photographed in the scenic landscapes all over Europe. The
School Bar Atelier Swap Meet and Bike Show has always been a
season opener for many BOAR bikes, thanks to the great roads and
landscapes that stretches between the rivers Moselle and Meuse.
Historic castles, quiet roads and the ever present battlefields of
the „Great War“, now 100 years in the past have left an almost forgotten
landscape which offers scenic country roads through open
fields and into towns where time has stood still. MOTOGRAPHER
Horst Roesler takes you through hidden paths and great rides that
show historic places long forgotten. Plus the very much alive custom
scene of the Meuse and Moselle valleys, which host several
great events every summer season.

The first shooting
The first photoshoot was performed before the bike was
delivered to Custom Chrome Europe and took place in
an industrial hall somewhere around Heidelberg/Germany,
home of MB-Cycles.
Great shooting location, superb light distribution make
this shoot a great option for the magazines. The angle
and details shots offer the most important details of the
then brandnew custom motorcycle. Shown are a few examples

Custom Chrome Europe‘s 2018 Top Cover Custombikes...
“Bolt On And Ride” again rides into the 2018 season! As in previous
years, Custom Chrome Europe has commissioned a complete new lineup
of „BOLT ON AND RIDE“ motorcycles that range from Sportster to
the most current „Milwaukee Eight“ Harley-Davidson model lines. Studio,
outdoor and riding images are made and continuously updated during
the season!
„The Fusion“ was created from a very unlikely source, as the basic bike
once rolled from the Harley-Davidson production line as a „Heritage
Softail“, the only part to be recognizable from that the chrome plated
oil tank. Despite the „Bolt On“ approach, Martin Becker used his superb
skills to create an outstanding „Dragstyle“ Lowrider that utilizes many
RSB parts and the prototype of EMD‘s new primary covers. Especially
the tank is an outstanding work of sheet metal adaption, for which Becker
has become famous.
As during the last decade, the 2018 „BOLT ON AND RIDE“ motorcycles
are not only ridden by CCE staff but also by you, the press – check in
with Custom Chrome Europe Marketing with your own “testride” feature
of the 2018 “Bolt On And Ride” motorcycles – or meet the members of
the CCE Staff “on the road” when the bikes are „ridden unrivalled” to
