With blazin‘ guns and smokin‘ exhausts: Filming Custom Chrome Europe‘s new music-video took place in Pullman City/Harz-Mountains/Germany.


Lonely streets, wind blows dust through deserted side alleys, 

lanterns rattle in the wind – Carson City in August 

1886? A deep rumble is rolling along, but it ain‘t a thunderstorm, 

approaching with the long expected and needed 

rain to Nevada‘s deserted landscape, relieving the gold 

diggers from thirst and draught. The rumble comes quick. 

The Sheriff looks out of the office window, four strangers 

come into town. Relaxed and cool, he rolls the drum of his 

Colt Sixshooter, checking the weapon. Will there be trouble 

in town today? His eyes meet the clock: 5 to 12 – High 

Noon. A drop of oil to the drum, turns smoothly as silk. The 

barrel is polished – and the last „troublemakers“ left the 

town lying on their back. Only up to Boot Hill ...

„Two basic ideas formed the concept of the 2016 videoclip“, 

explains „Boss Man“ Andreas Scholz, who also envisioned 

the basic plot for the music clip, „first we wanted 

a „new start“, which means a completely stand-alone 

new story that would have nothing in common with the 

2014/2015 videos which were succeeding stories, but we 

also wanted to give the Italian Sales Representative Ivano 

Segato the leading role, since Italy is an important market 

for CCE. This is also a reason why we opted for a parody 

of the typical Spaghetti-Western.“

Pullman City near Hasselfelde in the eastern Harz Mountains 

was found perfect to film „on location“ – and a themed 

Western town that is open to bike riders, too: Every June, 

The scenic Western Town offered everything the 

team needed for cool shots! 

Better, cooler, funnier – and even crazier 

than last year: The 3rd music video 

of Custom Chrome Europe will set new 

standards for „Custom-Promotion“. Following 

„Sexy Thing“ (2014) and „This 

Is!“ (2015), „Ride Unrivalled“ continues 

the series of short CCE-clips, which 

promote „Customizing“ in general. The 

„message“: Customizing is adventure, 

individual as every rider – and great fun! 

We don‘t give away the plot – as you 

may want to see the video yourself, but 

the „scene shots“ of CCE certainly raise 

curiosity: Custom Chrome Europe goes

Early shift: The „Ruby Shock“ scenes had to be filmed under severe time stress – the Bar would open to the public at 10:00 a.m.


TOP: Introducing „the Stranger“! Fog and light support the first appearance of Ivano Segato into the Saloon. 

Driving through the entrance doorof a different room – actually the Concert Hall of the eventsite – because 

bigger than the entrance door of the Saloon (BOTTOM RIGHT) where the actual music scenes were filmed. 

the world´s biggest Boss Hoss V-8 bike meeting takes 

place here, and the owner of the Theme-Park owns also 

the first-ever homologated Boss Hoss of Germany. Several 

other Biker-events lure 2-wheeled visitors to the scenic 

location above Hasselfelde. The challenge: Filming would 

take place during the week but with the town opened to visitors 

from 10 am to 10 pm. Visitors, horses, wagons, even 

longhorns and bisons would be herded through town while 

filming – just to add to the already existing problems, on 

„Blacksmith Scene“ day a real Blacksmith was working on 

the horses to change horseshoes! How the horses would 

react to 4-stroke Harley-sound from open pipes while hot 

irons are pushed onto their hoofs was not tested – nobody 

wanted even to try...

The really „hot“ action scenes had to be filmed outside 

the regular opening times. Getting up early, masking and 

going to bed late became routine. Fortunately, the weather 

played along which is not always the case in the Harz 

Mountains: Even the obligatory „Ride into Sunset“ found a 

TOP: Details! Many thoughts went into how to throw 

the catalog to thae correct page. In the end, it turned 

out simple! And the Boeker Knife hit the right part! 

nearby location and thanks to the sun for the long-lasting 

setting on that particular evening! Nobody would believe 

how often the take was repeated in just 20 minutes!

The „indoor-scenes“ with party and celebration were filmed 

between 11 pm and 3 am which is always a good 

time to party, but re-creating „the spirit“, this time with Ruby 

Shock at 7 to 10 am the same morning became somewhat 

challenging, to say the least. Three hours of sleep after a 

long day of filming wasn‘t easy going, but it‘s not visible.

The film-experienced CCE team is effective and routinely 

integrated the „newcomers“ of the cast: Henryk „Sledgehammer“ 

Willms of HWC Cycles, well known for his „Zero 

Down Tube“ frames, was the closest to location CCE Dealer 

and not just „acted“ his „The Blacksmith“ role professionally: 

He has experience in professional forging – and his 

old bike shop is rumoured to have looked like an old-school 

forgery. The part of the „Hole in the Piston“ gang was performed 

by Andreas „Boss Man“ Scholz, Carsten „Sharpshooter“ 

Behrens, Michael „Mad Tech“ Felde and Helmut


A great number of different Locations offer „shooting“ opportunities for the 2016 „Bolt On and Ride“ Bikes. „Lily“ fits the scene perfectly!


„Gunslinger“ Sekowski of the CCE headquarter-team in 

Grolsheim/Germany. Barmaid Simone „Cat Chrome“ Messer 

usually is Assistant of the „Boss Man“, but can fall back 

on a long-time experience with a show-dance team. „Sheriff“ 

Scherer usually whips the marketing-department onto 

the hard trail traversing the magazine Badlands ...

By pure chance, Ruby Shock, cult-band based in Stuttgart/ 

Germany and already delivering a fitting song to the 2015 

„This Is“ clip, has completed a new album – including one 

song that fit the theme and idea of the video just perfect: 

„Morricone“ is a tribute song to Ennio Morricone, composer 

of so many tunes and film music of an uncountable 

number of „Spaghetti-Westerns“.

Nevertheless, the „stars“ of the clip are five 2016 „Bolt 

On and Ride“ bikes, „roughed up“ during the filming really 

hard. In the unavoidable breaks – let alone waiting for 

blacksmith to finish his hoof job – cover-, riding-, productand 

lifestyle scenes were filmed and photographed on the 

superb motorcycle roads of the eastern Harz mountains. 

Then with fitting helmets and proper clothes instead of the 

„Wild West Outfit“ when prowling Pullman City.

„Pony Express“, built by Harley-Factory Frankfurt, is based 

on a 2015 Electra Glide, equipped with Performance Machine 

wheels and brake rotors, a set of Rick´s hard cases 

plus tailend, BAHN engine covers, Danny Gray seat, Crusher 

exhaust system and Ness triple-trees.

Mainhattan‘s „Greatful Sled“ was given a major role – here 

not to be uncovered, but watch it – and is defined by Ritz 

triple-trees, TTS wheels, Metzeler white wall tires and 

black K-Tech controls. The BSL exhaust system added to 

the soundtrack at the filming, but will not be heard due to 

the Ruby Shock tune.

the most ambitious Custom Sportsters of the entire „Bolt 

On and Ride“ series ever: „Lily“ features complete set of 

EMD engine covers, changing the look of the motor com-

High-Tech in the Wild West is delivered by the „Gunslinger“ 

V-Rod of Austria‘s Cult Werk. Actually, the stock original is 

assembled at Harley-Davidson‘s Kansas City/Missouri assembly 

line – can you get any closer to the real old „Wild 

West“? A complete Cult Werk „Bodykit“, including Airbox- 

Cover (where other bikes have the gas tank ...), tailend, 

watercooler cover and all other small covers, is mounted 

– accompanied by RevTech design wheels and RST tripletrees. 

The BSL exhaust system blows away the dust not 

just in the streets of the Wild West town: A ThunderMax 

upgrade allows a few more „Ponies“ galloping inside the 

water-cooled V-Twin.

„The Stranger“ Ivano Segato is riding this years „BOAR- 

Softail“ along dusty roads: German authorized Harley-dealer 

Thunderbike created „Blue Bandit“ – another top-bike 

for Custom Chrome Europe, using Performance Machine 

design wheels, brake rotors and engine covers plus Biltwell 

risers. Triple-trees fork-legs and Magnaflow exhaust 

system are of Arlen Ness origin.

the audience will have as much fun watching it as we had

„edgy“ at the beginning, but in the end, it all came

The Team... ‚


...that makes a difference! 

And the „multitasking“ abilities of most team members to 

fullfil numerous functions – often at the same time – while 

being flexible enough to improvise to „given“ and often 

not to be influenced situatons. Believe it or not, absent 

in the group picture are only the make-up artist and 

„blacksmith“ Henryk „Sledgehammer“ Willms of HWC 

Cycles. 14 people were involved in the creation of script, 

building the neccessary parts and (a miserably sick and 

feverish!) Marcus „Kalle“ Arnoldy, who nevertheless 

filmed for 3 days and nights, checking that all necessary 

material would be available.

...rides into Town! 

Of course, we don‘t give „the Plot“ away in this feature, 

but the „Hole in the Piston“ Gang performed by Andreas 

„Boss Man“ Scholz, Carsten „Sharpshooter“ Behrens, 

Michael „Mad Tech“ Felde and Helmut „Gunslinger“ 

Sekowski had to bear much of the „riding“ scenes, which 

were sometime difficult and ambitious. As a matter of 

fact, not one single shot of the clip is filmed on tarmac 

roads (!!), adding to the authenticity of the film. „Off road“ 

riding on gravel and even grass benefitted from dry and 

even sunny weather conditions, in the Harz Mountains 

not really to be anticipated but certainly welcome!

... riding „Pony Express“ by Harley-Factory 

Frankfurt/Main 

Initiating the idea, plus much of the script, CCE Managing 

Director Andreas Scholz reserved Harley-Factory Frankfurt-built 

„Pony Express“ as his „stallion“. To handle 420+ 

kg on rough surface wasn‘t easy, but he has mastered 

more difficult rides. The „Electra Glide Ultra Classic“ is 

CCE‘s 2016 Bagger, but with the cigar in the mouth and 

the smile in his face, why does automatically another 

(TV) character catchphrase comes to mind? „I love it 

when a plan comes together!“


RIDE Carsten „Sharpshooter“ Behrens ‚


...taming „Greatful Sled“ by 

Mainhattan Choppers 

Carsten Behrens was perfectly positioned for the role 

of long-fork riding motorcycle outlaw! Why? Well, if you 

listen to one of his own 20-Inch-over custombike exhausts, 

you get the idea! Anyway, he knew how to handle 

Mainhattan‘s Dyna based longfork, stretched only with a 

„Ritz“ extension kit which does mount to the stock front 

fork, adding new triple-trees. It works! For the absence 

of fitting words in „Once Upon a Time in the West“, his 

catchphrase: „Make my Day, Sucker!“

Helmut „Gunslinger“ Sekowski

...riding „Gunslinger“ by Cultwerk/Austria 

Well known by his clients, Helmut Sekowski is member 

of the CCE Sales Staff at the Grolsheim/Germany warehouse 

and a dedicated Harley-Rider. Often parking his 

garage-built 2000 Dyna Glide Sport outside the office. 

The „Gunslinger“ is Cultwerk‘s complete „Body Job“ for 

the 2016 BOAR lineup! Rather „sidekicked“ during the 

main action, his „Wild Hogs“ moment comes at the end, 

when you watch the COMPLETE clip! As a „teaser“ his 

catchphrase: „I‘m ok! It doesn´t hurt!“

Michael „Mad Tech“ Felde

...burning „Lily“ by Maniac MechaniX 

Member of the highly skilled CCE Tech & Quality Department, 

Michael „Mad Tech“ Felde is burning some hot rubber 

on the Maniac MachaniX built 2016 „Bolt On and Ride“ 

Sportster „Lily“ – quite literally only seconds, before the first 

visitors enter the park and – to allow both filming and photographing 

– hardcore too! This scene was done in just one 

take AND improvised to some extend too, as „Cat Chrome“ 

was added only while the tire was already smoking! Great 

job by Michael, his catchphrase may have been derived 

from his regular job: „Complaints? Suck my Gun, Pussy!“ 

And we filled in the hole before the visitors arrived...

...on „Blue Bandit“ by Thunderbike 

From the birthplace of „Spaghetti“ Western, CCE Sales 

Representative Italy is a man of few words – except when 

it comes to business. His stallion: Thunderbike‘s outstanding 

„Blue Bandit“, the spectacular „Softail“ for the 2016 

Bolt On and Ride Bikes. The „allrounder“ Custombike 

was one of the favorite rides, thanks to neutral seat position 

and easy handling. Lots of details from the CCE 

catalogue and a cool paintjob marked this bike as the 

two-wheeled „star“ of the clip, making a dramatic entry to 

the Saloon. Since Ivano bears a lot of conversation in his 

regular job, his catchphrase is, consequently: „...“

Not the least... 

... effort went into the supporting roles, costumes and 

details of the filming! Henryk „Sledgehammer“ Willms 

of HWC Cycles in Ilberstedt near Magdeburg was the 

closest CCE Dealer at hand - including real forging AND 

East-Germany experience! Simone „Cat Chrome“ Messser 

was a true eye-catcher and Axel Scherer as Sheriff 

the fastest gun in town. „Motographer“ Horst Rösler operated 

no less than 3 cameras + GoPro for filming and 

photographing and had to perform as „slimy“ Barkeeper 

too. „Easy Job“, his statement, while inventing the „Hammer-mounted“ 

GoPro for the Blacksmith scene, „What´s 

up tonight?“

Not at all composed for the clip, the song „Morricone“ was 

just released on Ruby Shock‘s 2016 Album „Scorched 

Earth“ which went to press in March 2016. „It just fit the 

theme perfectly“, says Andreas Scholz, who renewed 

his engagement with Stuttgart-based „Ruby Shock“ for 

this year´s „Ride Unrivalled“ clip, „plus the fact that Ruby 

Shock is a great stage performing band, we are glad to 

have them back again with us!“ Ruby Shock „live“ dates

A full scale Wild West Town... 

... in the Harz-Mountains (and another version in the 

Bavarian Forest) offer German „Wild West“ fans a 

cool location to celebrate their lifestyle. Despite a few 

compromises, there is a lot of passion and dedication in 

the project, which in summertime is hosting daily shows. 

Knowing both landscapes, the Harz is similar to South 

Dakota‘s „Black Hills“ – and Pullman City as well as 

Hasselfelde hosts several motorcycle meetings, most 

famous Europe‘s biggest Boss Hoss V-8 motorcycle 

event. A great place to bring the family!

Now with helmets and new CCE T-Shirts: Axel Scherer stepped in for Ivano Segato as rider, since Italian clients had to be served too!


Bolt On and Ride Bikes 2016 

East or West, the Harz-Mountains offer great riding 

opportunities when the weather is as perfect as 

experienced by the CCE team. When the „time out“ for the 

real-world blacksmith blocked the location, no time was 

wasted. Change of clothes - fuel station – high pressure 

bike wash (no girls available ...) and off into the wild and 

twisting side-roads of the Harz. We didn‘t need to go far, 

nor did we use the (possible!) option of a parallel blast to 

the Selketal Steam Railway, but long before the blacksmith 

was finished, the images were „in the box“.

... and boasting a rich history in the Heart of Germany, the 

Harz-Mountains are something special! Due to its location 

in the „East“ Harz, formerly German Democratic Republic 

(GDR), Hasselfelde is a great hub for touring the entire 

area, Pullman City offering great accommodation for 

groups and families in particular! The East German town 

has retained much of the old character, spearheaded 

by Quedlinburg, which can boast more than 1327 old 

houses, dating back as far as 1289! A net of steamoperated 

Railways of Harzquerbahn and Selketalbahn 

is still operated and runs to the summit of the Brocken.

Into the Sunset...

Little time for reflection during the filming: The yellow ball is coming down with ever-increasing speed while the bikes are arranged for another run.


...and on to the West! 

Few participants of the shoot did realize the historic implications 

of the „Ride into the Sunset“ shoot at the time it was done. Before 

1989, visiting even Hasselfelde would have needed „Special 

Access“ passes, because the fortifications of the „Iron Curtain“ 

were close. For 40 years, the „Brocken“ was „off limits“, except 

for the military, who spied into the west. Living and working in 

restricted areas was closely followed by the Stasi. Posession of 

Western Motorcycles was strictly forbidden in the GDR, so was 

crossing the Country except on Transit routes! In the roughly 45 

minutes to the actual sunset, trial runs were set, nevertheless it 

took several „takes“ to get five bikes into the frame. While the „last 

minute“ shoot was accepted for the Poster (TOP LEFT), an earlier 

version was declined as too „Brokeback Mountainish“. When the 

crew went back to base, the spectacular light show continued...


RIDE Encore: V-Rod Stunt! ‚


Attention – Silence – aaaand – Action!!! 

When shooting the bike details in a remote corner of the Western 

town, the pile of horseshit (Yes! True and genuine HS & BS!) 

caught the attention of the team. Why not performing a cool stunt 

for the outtake other than the gag scripted originally? The Idea was 

discussed – especially with „Gunslinger“ Helmut Sekowski – who 

insisted at least a layer of fresh hay! The rest of the pile is still ... 

Filming and photographing the take ONLY twice, but with no less 

than five cameras the results were nothing short of stunning – even 

the pictures! While Helmut runs the bike into the pile twice, the later 

take sees the motorcycle mounted to a stand and the „fall“ filmed/ 

photographed separately while Axel Scherer and „Motographer“ 

Horst Rösler simultaneously throw hay into the lens. Even with the 

slow 5-images/second Canon 5D, the results speak for themselves. 

And more than a little inspiration came from „Wild Hogs“ ...

...to Michael „Mad Tech“ Felde! 

Who was by far not the only one to lose his Cowboy hat 

during the filming, but he was caught twice by the tele lens of 

„Motographer“ Horst Rösler, always a „hot shot“ and ready for 

the kill! 

When riding, the hats were a sensitive point in the filming and 

riding scenes which hadto be repeated more than once due to 

wind gusts, not only because of fast riding. Team costumes were 

borrowed at Pullman City, but a lot of visitors come completely 

„dressed“ in period re-enacting fashion. „Downtown“ Pullman 

City also offers a great variety of shops where he and she can 

buy everything a Cowgirl or Cowboy may need. 

Since the hats were „on loan“ from Pullman City stock, glueing 

or stapling the hats to the heads was not an option, so the call 

was repeated: Scene „Wild Ride into Town“ - Take Number 4 

– Action ...
