CLARKE
THEATRE
The Clarke Theatre opened in 1997 to
great fanfare and it is still the heart of
the arts in Mission. Known as much for
some incredible national artists such as
Burton Cummings and Gord Downy as
it is for local talent and emerging dance
choreographers.
A 702 seat facility, owned and operated
by the Mission Public School District, the
theatre has also been the training ground for
young artists such as Mission’s own Carly Rae
Jepsen who first hit the stage at the age of ten.
The school community has uses the facility for
seasonal concerts and dance presentations as
well as for their annual musicals.
Not content to simply function as a theatre,
the entire Heritage Park Centre has become a
meeting place for all things cultural such as the
Ukrainian Festival, Diwali Celebrations and
numerous community events. The cafeteria and
lobby areas double as gathering places for the
Mission Winter Farmer’s Market, the Mission
Arts Council Christmas Craft Show and the
Mission Coffee House series.
The Clarke Theatre attracts audience
members from throughout the valley and has
earned a reputation for presenting the best that
Canada has to offer.
