Coppock, 70, dies after car accident<br />

Longtime Chicago<br />

sportscaster Chet Coppock,<br />

a New Trier graduate<br />

and Northfield native,<br />

died April 17.<br />

According to a Facebook<br />

post from his daughter<br />

Lyndsey Coppock,<br />

Coppock, 70, died due to<br />

complications from injuries<br />

he sustained in a car<br />

accident outside Hilton<br />

Head, S.C.<br />

“His passing is untimely,<br />

unexpected and painfully<br />

sad, but all we can do at<br />

this time is remember how<br />

lucky we were to have<br />

such a unique and creative<br />

trailblazer help shape into<br />

the adults we know he was<br />

so incredibly proud of,”<br />

the post says.<br />

In his illustrious career,<br />

Coppock wrote five books,<br />

was a fixture on WMAQ-<br />

TV, The Score 670 AM<br />

and many more outlets.<br />

In 2013, Coppock was inducted<br />

into the Chicagoland<br />

Sports Hall of Fame<br />

and honored with the<br />

Jack Brickhouse Lifetime<br />

Achievement Award.<br />

A memorial service “to<br />

reflect on good times and<br />

to laugh, sharing memories<br />

of the past,” the post says,<br />

will be held per Coppock’s<br />
