Types Of <strong>Speech</strong> <strong>Disorder</strong><br />

● Articulation disorders<br />

● Phonological disorders<br />

● Disfluency<br />

● Voice disorders


Articulation <strong>Disorder</strong><br />

Articulation <strong>Disorder</strong> problems can be caused by<br />

physical circumstances such as a cleft palate, a<br />

disease that causes difficulties producing<br />

words/sounds, or hearing loss, or may be related to<br />

other problems in the mouth, such as dental<br />

problems. Articulation problems can also result from<br />

cerebral palsy.


Phonological <strong>Disorder</strong><br />

Phonological <strong>Disorder</strong> is a Type of <strong>Speech</strong><br />

<strong>Disorder</strong>. Children with Phonological <strong>Disorder</strong> do<br />

not use some or all of the speech sounds expected<br />

for their age group.


<strong>Speech</strong> Disfluency<br />

A speech disfluency is any interruption in the normal<br />

flow of speech. We all experience speech disfluencies<br />

from time to time.<br />

For example, it's not uncommon to hear people use<br />

sounds such as 'um' or 'uh' while speaking. We are<br />

more likely to experience speech disfluencies when<br />

we are stressed, nervous, excited, or tired.
