WHO WE ARE
The VIDYA Foundation is a charitable organization that
specializes in the education and empowerment of lessprivileged
children and youth through working with them
at an individual level. We believe Education has the power
to transform the lives of children, now and for generations
to come. We began with a vision to bring quality education
to every child in India. With this belief, we developed a
vision to provide education to every child from slums.

ON-THE-SPOT POSTER
MAKING COMPETITION
This event is not only an opportunity for budding
artists to get some much-needed motivation and a
platform to showcase their talents, but also an
occasion when we create awareness about some
social evils prevailing in society.
This January we organized 2019 On-The-Spot Poster
Making Competition on 26th. We brought together
more than 700 students from the slums for this
event. The purpose of the event was not only to
educate the children and their families about the
issues that impact society but also to stand together
with us for the eradication of social evils.

SPORTS MEET
We have been holding the Sports meet for the students
from the slums of Delhi from last 5 years and we have
observed that the Sports day has left tangible and quite a
visible impact on the lives of the participants from weaker
sections of the society. Most of the kids are with more
confidence and feeling of accomplishment after each
sports day we organize.

RISHABH
It was a moment of great pride and hope for him and his family when
his result came out with flying colours of 92% in commerce subject in
his 12th class board exam. A studious and diligent child dwelling at
Dr. Ambedkar slum colony has not limited himself to accomplish his
goal, despite being surrounded by many circumstances and
challenges which came his ways.
Rishabh’s dream to continue his academic seem to come to an end when his father got
burnt at the factory, and his mother a mere housewife with no source of decent income to
make the ends meet. However, this young teenager did not lose his hope of achieving his
goals. At this point of time Rishabh came across ‘The Vidya Foundation’ which supported
him and gave him a new hope to come closer to his dreams. Today, he is an ever thankful
person to this foundation for making his dreams alive by providing tuitions and
counselling. Rishabh’s next goal is to crack the exams of government jobs and ‘The Vidya
Foundation’ is proud to support him with an 80% scholarship for his coaching from KD
Campus.
AMIT KUMAR
Amit Kumar is a resident of a slum of South Delhi; a brilliant young
mind born into not very favourable circumstances. His father was a
tea vendor and the sole bread winner for the family. With the
necessary support from The Vidya Foundation in the form of classes
and financial assistance, he scored a CGPA of 10 in his 10th grade and
took science in his 12th and scored an astounding 81%.
The Vidya Foundation recruited him under “Mission Education to Employment” and
arranged English and Computer classes for him. Along with this, he was also given oneon-one
sessions, to boost his morale and motivate him. He was hired by VFS Global
Services Pvt. Ltd. and recently joined the Embassy of Switzerland as a permanent
employee. Today other students look up to him as an inspiration and The Vidya
Foundation family rejoices in his achievements. We wish him all the best for his future
endeavours.

KESHAV
Everything seem to come to halt for this young and talented boy of 10
years, when his father, the only bread earner passed away. Life was
tough and even more challenging for this young boy who deep inside
him had so much hope and determination to step out into this world
one day to become someone and make himself and his family proud,
he always believed there was so much install for him too. He was
studious and had passion for music.
Keshav’s dreams have come to the spotlight when ‘The Vidya Foundation’ spotted him
and had supported him throughout his academic. Today, Keshav is a proud BA graduate
from Delhi University with first division. Keshav by now have not only came out success
academically but also have learned to play guitar at ease and truly enjoys his passion.
Today his education and music have earned him a good and decent job to support himself
and his family, he now works at British High Commission and goes out to teach guitar at
weekends. Keshav today has not kept any limit in achieving ones dream, when asked
about what he will do in future to come he said with a thankful heart, “since I have been
raised and supported I would also in full gratitude devote my free time to teaching English
and music to the under privileged to help them achieve their dreams.
KOMAL
Life was never easy for Komal, who lacked even the basic amenities in
her childhood. The eldest of four children, Komal has two younger
sisters and a brother. While her father was jobless, it was her mother
who strived day and night to provide for her family. Komal was given
classes by The Vidya Foundation and her hard work bore fruit when
she stood first in her school in the 10th and in the 12th..
She attended classes at The Vidya Foundation for English and Computers after enrolling in
“Mission Education to Employment” and along with this, she was also given one-on-one
sessions to encourage her. She was recently hired by the Embassy of Switzerland. Komal
stands out as a role model to people who are going through tough times but have the
determination to overcome these and work hard to fulfil their dreams. We are proud of
her and very happy about her achievements. We wish her all the best for her future.

SUMIT
Sumit is an exuberant young man, who is today a motivation to many
who look up to him; but little do they know what he had been
through. He was born in the slums of Dr Ambedkar Basti and has not
had a privileged upbringing. His father passed away when he was
little, forcing him to quit his studies and go out and look for work. He
was taken under the wings of The Vidya Foundation, who provided
him with free classes. He worked hard and cleared the 10th and 12th
class exams with flying colours.
He got admission into Motilal Nehru College (University of Delhi) and graduated in the
year 2016. Soon after, The Vidya Foundation enrolled him in their “Mission Education to
Employment” and arranged English and Computer classes for him. During this time oneon-one
sessions were also given to motivate him. He was hired by VFS Global Services Pvt.
Ltd. and joined the British High Commission as a permanent employee.
Today, The Vidya Foundation feels proud to have students like him who made the best use
of their opportunities and worked hard to fulfil their dreams. We applaud his success and
wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
