With a population of over 200 million people and a booming economy, Pakistan is among the 25 largest
economies in the world. Germany is Pakistan’s fourth largest trading partner and Pakistan‘s largest
trading partner in Europe.
The economic and financial center of the country is the Megacity Karachi. The city is also the most
important port in the country. Over 20 million people live in the metropolitan area. Thus, Karachi is
not only the most populous city in Pakistan, but also the seventh largest on Earth. Karachi is the most
important financial center with the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the seat of the Pakistan Central Bank,
the State Bank of Pakistan and almost all the headquarters of major banks. Many ICT companies, call
centers, media and television stations have also settled there. In addition, Toyota and Suzuki Motor
Company produce in the metropolis.
Pakistan’s capital Islamabad in the northeast is the country’s political center. Together with its
immediately adjacent twin town of Rawalpindi, the metropolitan area has 4.5 million inhabitants.
In recent years, more and more IT companies have settled in Islamabad. Furthermore, all major
telecommunications companies such as Mobilink, Telenor or Ufone are headquartered in Islamabad, as
are most state-owned companies.
Lahore, the capital of the Punjab province in the northeast of the country, on the border with India, is
one of the richest cities in Pakistan and the second largest economic center in the country after Karachi.
Lahore is traditionally a center of the textile industry, but also numerous other manufacturing companies
have settled here, such as pharmaceutical and chemical producers, steel and construction industries as
well as IT companies and Pakistan’s film industry, called Lollywood. In addition, Lahore is an important
tourist center. The city of Sialkot in Punjab is the world’s second largest cluster for producing surgical
instruments made of metal. Sialkot also produces around
40 million leather footballs annually.

During the visit of delegation, Aslam Iqbal briefed them
about the current working and investment friendly environment
of Punjab and briefed the German delegation over
various sectors and availability of numerous potential opportunities
for investors in Punjab.
He further pointed out that the immense potential for collaboration
majorly existed in the areas of energy, engineering,
technical education, transport, tourism and construction.

Dr. Michael Kerkloh (*05.07.1953)
President and CEO, Munich Airport
Since September 2002 Dr Michael Kerkloh (65) is at the helm of FMG, the Munich Airport operating company,
as President and CEO. Und er his leadership, Bavaria's gateway to the world has moved up to join the ranks of
Europe's top air transportation hubs, with annual traffic exceeding 46 million passengers in 2018. Dr Kerkloh
has very successfully promoted a strategic partnership with Lufthansa German Airlines and in a unique joint
venture both airport and airline have built terminal 2 and a state-of-the-art satellite to serve the growing
demand of air traffic in Munich.
Munich Airport was appointed Europe's first "5-Star Airport". ln the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2019,
Munich Airport was again voted Europe's Best Airport, a repeat winner of the award for the twelfth year,
selected in a survey with a sample of 13.5 million international travelers.
Kerkloh graduated in Economics at the University of Frankfurt and completed a doctorate in Political Science.
He started his career in aviation at Frankfurt airport and was later appointed managing director of Hamburg
airport. From 2013 until 2016 he was president of the German Airports Association (ADV). ln 2017 Kerkloh
was elected president of Airport Council International (ACI) Europe and now represents the interests of
more than 500 airports in 45 European countries.
Klaus Dittrich (*14.08.1955)
Chairman and CEO, Messe München GmbH
Klaus Dittrich (born in 1955 in Gauting near Munich) has been Chairman and CEO of Messe München GmbH
since January 2010. In this role he is also responsible for the overall management and coordination of the
Messe München Group.
He is also in charge of the trade fairs BAUMA, ISPO MUNICH, ISPO BEIJING, ISPO SHANGHAI, INHORGENTA
MUNICH and EXPO REAL. Internally, his areas of responsibility include the Central Divisions of Corporate
Strategy and Personnel, the digital Business Unit and the Departments of Corporate Marketing and Corporate
Communications. In addition, Klaus Dittrich is a member of the Management Board of GHM Gesellschaft für
Handwerksmessen.
Dittrich came to the company as Deputy Managing Director in April 2002 and was appointed Managing
Director in February 2003. In that position he was responsible for the trade fairs in the Business Unit for New
Technologies in Germany and abroad. He was also responsible for the Central Divisions Sales Germany and
IT Germany.
Dittrich graduated with a Master of Arts in German and Political Science from the Ludwig-Maximilians-
Universität, Munich. In 1980 he entered the civil service of the State of Bavaria, and from 1982 onwards he
held various positions in association work. He acquired extensive expertise in business and industry as a
member of the supervisory and executive boards of a number of industrial and service enterprises.
Between 1990 and 1995 Klaus Dittrich had a seat on Munich City Council. One of the tasks in which he was
involved, in the Committee for Labor and Economic Development and the Committee for Urban Planning and
Building Regulation, was the preparation and design of the new exhibition center. Between 1997 and 1999,
Klaus Dittrich was a member of the Bavarian Senate.
Mr. Dittrich is a Member of the Board of the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and
Chairman of FKM—the Society of Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics. He belongs to the
Board of Directors of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI); he is a member of the presiding
committee of the economic advisory association Wirtschaftsbeirat Bayern; a board member of the Italian
Chamber of Commerce Munich-Stuttgart; is Vice President of the Senate of Economy (Senat der Wirtschaft);
and he is a member of the plenary assembly of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper
Bavaria.
He has also been appointed to the economic advisory councils of Bayern LB, Stadtsparkasse München and
TÜV Süd.
Klaus Dittrich is married and has two grown children. His hobbies are mountain-climbing, skiing, motorcycling,
long-distance running and literature.

Honorary Consul Dr. Pantelis Christian Poetis (*25.07.1959)

Honorary Consul of Pakistan for Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg
Dr. Poetis is the strategic head of the POWERGROUP, developer of Business Design Thinking and is responsible for the development
of well-known international brands and innovative concepts. The company grew out of a management buy-out of the TBWA division
of the Omnicom Group, the world's largest agency network (revenue: 15 bn; employees: 79,500), of which Dr. Poetis was a member of
the European executive committee. He previously was CEO of various subsidiaries of the Delton AG/Quandt Group, a privately held
holding which has large share-holdings in BMW and other important German companies, and thus is among the world's ten largest
family offices.
Dr. Poetis focuses in particular on the specialist area of M&A strategy, within the framework of which he has initiated a number of
successful joint ventures and project financing.
Current projects which are managed by the POWERGROUP in Pakistan:
• Made in Pakistan with German Engineering
German-Pakistani cooperation projects with focus on technological upgrade and vocational training
• We Care Everwhere in cooperation with Siemens Healthineers
Technical upgrade of hospital equipment with the aim of making Pakistan an attractive location for medical care.
• Change needs Energy
Projects focusing on generation, deployment and financing of renewable energies
Dr. Poetis is a visiting lecturer of marketing theory, practice and legal aspects at Berlin’s Technical University and the EUROFORUM.
He has initiated several successful charitable movements for the needy as well as the victims of Pakistan’s flood catastrophe in
2010. He is the founder of the German Association Trade & Economy (G.A.T.E.) to Pakistan and a long-standing member and former
President of the German-Pakistan Forum.
Awards:
• Melvin Jones Fellowship for extraordinary humanitarian achievement
• Medal of Honour from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Berlin, Germany, for extraordinary support of the victims
of the great flood
• Award from German Federal Family Minister Dr. Christine Schröder for extraordinary support of Germany's food bank organisation
• Award from German Federal Family Minister Manuela Schwesig for extraordinary support of Germany's food bank organisation
Dr. Poetis studied at Hamburg, Tübingen and Munich Universities and was awarded a Doctor of Laws Degree for his dissertation
on the comparison of religious freedom in the USA and Germany written under the partial supervision of the Law School of the
University of Maryland in the USA.

Patricia Poetis (*07.03.1962)

Mrs. Poetis’ career encompasses a wide range of design assignments for international clothing (among
others, for Aigner, Bogner, Rena Lange, Pierre Cardin, Louis Feraud, Elbeo, Sara Lee), FMCG products as well
as ‘non-tactile’ design challenges for public sector projects and charities.
As chief representative of the LIFE FUND Equity Invest, she focuses on investment opportunities in the area
of scalable IT startups, Fintech, Insurtech and Telecom, cyber security and e-health. The LIFE FUND is a
venture capital investment company which specializes, among others, in early-stage investment and helps
start-ups reach maturity.
With her sense of social responsibility she has initiated and managed several actions on the behalf of Pakistan
including ‘Pakistan needs us now’ and the foundation of Patty’s Child Clinics Pakistan.
‘Pakistan needs us now’ was launched as an emergency aid project to help the victims of the 2010 flood disaster
with the reconstruction of schools and homes. The appeal for donations generated over 1.4 million euros.
Patty's Child Clinics Pakistan consists of a network of currently three clinics and is being continuously
expanded. Patty's Child Clinics have already brought over 3,500 healthy children into the world. A total of
25 Patty's Child Clinics are planned to be built in Pakistan. To secure the expansion, Mrs. Poetis signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with H.E. Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Federal Minister for National Health
Services & Regulation, in October 2018.
She is, since 1994, a university lecturer and member of jury for the graduating classes of ESMOD International
Fashion School. She was also a member of jury and chairwoman of the creative board for brand development
for BERLIN SCIENCES and works with directors of the Berlin Universities, international renowned architects
and representatives from business and politics in Berlin.

Munich Members is the platform for the identification and development of projects with added social value.
It supports young people in their quest to solve their country’s problems by providing access to international
investors for the most promising innovations, technically advanced start-ups and creative concepts, thus
enabling implementation locally, where it’s needed. Creativity has no nationality: We seek it out and support
it wherever it occurs and in doing so help turn ideas into reality.
The work of Munich Members does not end with project financing and implementation: it brings together
experts from a wide range of disciplines in order to expand the focus of ongoing projects or transfer them
geographically. Each member, whether creative free-lance, young entrepreneur, scientist, politician, CEO of
a corporate group or investor, is important for the power of Munich Members and the success of its projects.
We can only move matters forward if we work closely together.
Before founding Munich Members in October 2017, Philomena held positions as Junior as well as Senior
Consultant at POWERGROUP GmbH and Munich Security Conference GmbH.
Philomena studied musicology, sociology and American studies (MA 2009-2014) at the Ludwig-Maximilians
University in Munich, Germany and is currently finishing her Doctor Degree of Philosophy at the same
university under Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi.
Philomena is an active Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum and is responsible for political education
in her Munich community. She has held several voluntary positions, including Board Member of the Young
Opera Friends of the Bavarian State Opera (2015-2017), Managing Director of the German-Pakistan Forum
(2011-2014) as well as assisting the Honorary Consulate of Pakistan in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg
(2009-2016).
Furthermore, Philomena is a trained classical and opera singer. Next to scholarships and numerous music
prizes, she studied with Barbara Bonney and Fara Prader in Salzburg, Austria. Philomena was booked for
musical events in Singapore, London, Paris, Florence, Los Angeles, Miami and Bogotá. A special highlight was
a concert tour through Pakistan in 2016 at the invitation of the German Foreign Office.

Mr. Mehmood has been working for the Honorary Consulate of Pakistan since 2013 in the areas of Emerging
Markets and Cross-Cultural Business Development. Through his numerous, high-ranking contacts in
Pakistan's economy and politics, he makes a significant contribution to advancing the work of the organisation
German Association Trade & Economy (G.A.T.E.) to Pakistan, which was initiated by Consul Dr. Poetis in
cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office.
G.A.T.E. to Pakistan promotes German-Pakistani cooperation in the areas of business, science and culture.
G.A.T.E. to Pakistan supports medium-sized companies in their economic activities in Pakistan. As primary
address for companies and public-sector entities, G.A.T.E. to Pakistan offers custom support for business
activities in Pakistan, expert advice in all Pakistan matters, and access to the German-Pakistani business
community as well as to official decision-makers.
Mr. Mehmood studied at Augsburg and Punjab University and received a master's degree (LL.M.) from
the University of Augsburg. Before joining the Honorary Consulate he worked as Legal Advisor at the
Mohammadan Law Chamber, District Mandi Bahauddin, Pakistan.

Dr. Samia K. Babar

Samia Babar has twenty three years of experience in the Public Relations sector. She entered the industry
as a Project Officer for a Heart Disease Prevention Awareness Project and moved on to working with clients
from other sectors as well. Her area of expertise has been in the health sector where she has developed and
implemented awareness programs for Breast Cancer Awareness, Asthma and its management, Diabetes
management, Childhood diseases and vaccination, Cervical Cancer Prevention and Invasive Pneumococcal
Disease Awareness along with leading pharmaceutical companies. A successful two years campaign by
Tetrapak was also conducted by her in the schools of Karachi.
She along with her team developed and implemented an Intellectual Property Rights / Anti Piracy campaign
for Oxford University Press. The campaign won the London Book Fair International Book Industry Award
and it was named as a finalist at the PR News’ Nonprofit PR Awards. She is responsible for all day-to-day
management decisions and for implementing the Company’s long and short term plans, supervising and
coordination of all PR related concerns of the clients.
She is also the MD of Mediators Marketing, the representatives in Pakistan for Messe Muenchen, one of the
largest trade fair companies worldwide.
She has previously worked with Unicef and USAID in awareness projects in low-income areas. A campaign
Students Movement Against Childhood Diseases (SMACD) designed for UNICEF and implemented by MPL
won the IPRA Golden World Award 2017 as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals Award 2017.
She has a degree in Medicine from the Dow Medical College, Karachi and is fluent in English and Urdu.
