Aging Matters in Brevard *<br />

Funds will be used to purchase a new meat slicer for the kitchen, which<br />

prepares up to 1,500 meals per day for the Brevard Senior Nutrition<br />

Program. This program delivers meals on weekdays to homebound<br />

seniors through its vital Meals on Wheels service and offers congregate<br />

dining for seniors at 12 sites around the county.<br />

Brevard County Legal Aid<br />

The Health Excellence Advanced by Legal Services (HEALS) medicallegal<br />

partnership with Parrish Medical Center was launched in 2018.<br />

Funds will be used for a Program Director who will also serve as a<br />

Volunteer Coordinator to recruit pro bono attorneys and pair them<br />

with Parrish Medical Center patients who have health-harming legal<br />

needs to help resolve those issues so the client may enjoy the best<br />

possible outcomes for overall health and wellness.<br />

Brevard PALS (Providing Autism Links and Supports)<br />

CAMP-2-CAN, a 6-week summer camp for youth aged 8-22 with<br />

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offers a specialized experience by<br />

supporting the individual needs of each camper - behavioral,<br />

communicative or social. Almost daily field trips are led by highly<br />

trained staff and volunteers. In addition, a doctor & staff from<br />

Pediatrics of Brevard attends camp sessions so that children with ASD,<br />

who also experience medical conditions such as diabetes or seizures,<br />

can enjoy this camp experience. This is the ONLY recreational camp for<br />

children with autism in Brevard.<br />

Brevard Rescue Mission *<br />

Brevard Rescue Mission works to permanently break the cycle of<br />

homelessness in families by providing a long-term solution designed<br />

for single mothers and their children. Families living at Casa Carol or<br />

Joy's Place are provided with a fully stocked, safe apartment along with<br />

a full array of the wrap around services needed to help them transition<br />

into lives of self-sufficiency. Grant funds will support the immediate<br />

living needs of the 13 families provided with housing and support.<br />

Brevard Symphony Orchestra<br />

Broadening the cultural horizon of every 5th grade student in Brevard<br />

County is the ultimate goal as they attend a unique concert by the<br />

Brevard Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with Brevard County<br />

Schools. During this concert, designed especially for the students, they<br />

will learn how music makes us feel, think and experience life.<br />

Club Esteem *<br />

Ensuring underserved students have access to STEM learning and<br />

educational support enabling them to finish high school and pursue<br />

post high school education is crucial. Funding will provide tools,<br />

resources, and the direct program support needed for students to<br />

achieve academic and personal success at the middle and high school<br />

levels. Additionally, we will be able to expand services to 20 additional<br />

students in 6-12 grade currently on the waiting list.<br />

Children’s Home Society of Florida<br />

The proposed family literacy program will serve all families enrolled in<br />

Early Head Start by providing early literacy materials for families to use<br />

at home, parent education, and books for use in the program. The goals<br />

of the Early Head Start Family Literacy program are to increase the<br />

amount and quality of parent/child time spent engaging in language and<br />

literacy related activities.<br />

Community of Hope<br />

Community of Hope serves homeless families who have children by<br />

providing a variety housing options in an effort to move families from<br />

homelessness to self sufficiency. Funding will allow them to develop<br />

and publish a Family Stabilization and Transformation Guide with<br />

standardized curriculum for both new clients and their assigned<br />

mentors.<br />

Daily Bread *<br />

The Whole Heart Health program will help address a variety of mental<br />

health emergencies. For many years, Daily Bread has focused on food,<br />

physical hygiene and a variety of services. Today, with 60% of their<br />

client base being homeless, more is required in recognizing the need<br />

to further address possible mental concerns. This new program will<br />

focus on the total scope of mental health services needed to allow<br />

clients to stabilize and effectively treat their mental illness.<br />

Eastern Florida State College Foundation<br />

Provide direct educational support in developing Brevard County's first<br />

ever mechatronics courses at the State College level. Courses of study<br />

in these emerging technologies are being developed in Brevard in<br />

direct response to the region's recent and anticipated resurgence in<br />

numerous high-demand, high-paying industries. The development of<br />

this mechatronics lab will provide a pipeline of specialized and skilled<br />

employees with high paying careers for local companies.<br />

Evans Center<br />

Funding will incentivize healthy food choices while addressing food<br />

insecurity among SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)<br />

customers of the Evans Community Market, a not-for-profit, brand<br />

new, grocery store serving an under-resourced neighborhood that has<br />

been officially designated a USDA "food desert." Funds would provide<br />

a dollar-for-dollar match (up to $8 per grocery shopping trip),<br />

encouraging recipients to increase their consumption of fresh and/or<br />

frozen fruits and vegetables.<br />

The Haven for Children *<br />

Providing children with a safe and engaging environment is extremely<br />

important to their healing process. By keeping the facilities updated<br />

we are able to provide the safest atmosphere for our kids. Grant funds<br />

will be used to update flooring and paint in two of our residential<br />

homes, as well as update the basketball court.<br />

Health Council of East Central Florida<br />

The Health Council operates the East Central Florida Cancer Control<br />

Collaborative serving the needs of cancer patients and their caregivers<br />

related to prevention, service access, and survivorship in Brevard and<br />

six neighboring counties. The Collaborative Cancer Navigation App<br />

connects patients, caregivers and case managers with local resources.<br />

Currently, for Brevard, only 20 services are listed (most Orlando<br />

based). Funding would allow us to add hundreds of identified cancer<br />

care services in Brevard to the existing app.<br />

The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse<br />

Now in its fifth year, the Playhouse engages 60 of Brevard’s youngest<br />

STARS ages 10-12 in special performances designed for people of all<br />

ages with physical and developmental challenges. Funds will be utilized<br />

for our STARS of Tomorrow youth program and its affiliate Sensory<br />

Sensitive Program to pay for royalties and associated production costs,<br />

to accommodate families and persons living with Autism Spectrum<br />

Disorder and other sensory sensitivities.<br />

Junior Achievement of the Space Coast *<br />

Funding will support an additional 10 classrooms to receive the middle<br />

school program, "JA It's My Future." This program, for 8th grade<br />

students, provides practical information about preparing for the<br />

working world by examining the 16 career clusters and career<br />

mapping, learning about declining and high-growth careers and the<br />

process of looking, applying, and interviewing for a job.<br />

LEAD Brevard *<br />

2020 Board Governance is a vital educational program for Brevard's<br />

nonprofits; including leadership, staff, volunteers and board. As there<br />

is no equivalent training offered in Brevard, this program is provided by<br />

a nationally known subject matter expert who provides research based<br />

best practices in board governance, including fundraising, which are<br />

crucial topics for the success of our entire nonprofit sector.<br />

Links of Hope<br />

Funds will be used to support 22 parenting, anger management and<br />

GED classes at the Brevard County Jail Complex (BCJC). The purpose of<br />

the classes is to build strong families among inmates. We are the only<br />

agency providing Parenting and Anger Management courses at BCJC.<br />

Marine Resources Council of East Florida<br />

Education staff and academic partners will create 3 STEAM lesson<br />

plans aligned with science benchmarks of the biological, physical, and<br />

chemical conditions of the Indian River Lagoon to prepare Brevard's<br />

5th graders for the Florida Statewide Science Assessment Test. Lessons<br />

will be developed, taught and evaluated during our <strong>2019</strong> summer day<br />

camp held at the Lagoon House. Once evaluated and adjusted to meet<br />

Florida standards, the MRC will offer the lessons to Brevard County 5th<br />

graders for onsite school field trips.<br />

M.O.R.G.A.N. Project<br />

Morgan's Place is a safe and enriching place for children and young<br />

adults with disabilities. The Innovative Sensorium is equipped with<br />

wireless, state-of-the-art multisensory equipment to stimulate the<br />

sensory pathways of touch, taste, sight, sound, smell, and movement<br />

without the need for intellectual reasoning, providing a sense of<br />

control to children that have very little control over their own lives.<br />

Funding will be used to complete the interactive garden instruments,<br />

as well as to offer a need-based, sliding scale co-pay for parents.<br />

National Association of Chiefs of Police<br />

The Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP), in partnership with<br />

Eastern Florida State College and the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement<br />

will offer world-class strategic training to help local police officers face<br />

21st century challenges. Funds will be utilized to purchase equipment<br />

and cover some expenses for national trainers who will teach officers<br />

better, faster and more appropriate responses to a variety of tactical<br />

situations, thus saving both officer and civilian lives.<br />

Neighbor Up Brevard *<br />

The Dorcas Outreach Center for Kids (DOCK) summer camp includes a<br />

combination of exciting field trips and academic activities which help<br />

children retain educational gains achieved during the school year.<br />

Funding will be used toward the Teens In Partnership program where<br />

teens work at the DOCK assisting younger children as counselors<br />

during summer camp.<br />

Promise (Promise in Brevard)<br />

One of Promise's planned social enterprises, the Promise Creative Arts<br />

Center, began offering Mixed-Media Adult Art Classes in Summer 2018<br />

to the general public covering a wide range of art mediums along with<br />

twice-daily art classes for Promise residents with special needs. Funds<br />

will be used to purchase necessary class supplies for the Promise<br />

Creative Arts Center.<br />

Salvation Army of North and Central Brevard<br />

Supporting people in personal crisis to remain in their own homes and<br />

feed their families until they can stabilize helps to alleviate the<br />

emotional trauma and upheaval suffered by those affected. Funds will<br />

be used for the Family Emergency Assistance Program to support<br />

interim/emergency housing (to keep families housed and avoid<br />

homelessness), food pantry, and daily feeding.<br />

Smiling Dog Rescue<br />

Did you know pit breeds have one of the largest litters? They also<br />

consistently comprise at least 75% of the dogs in Brevard County’s<br />

primary shelter. The Snip-a-Pit Program offers free and low-cost<br />

spaying/neutering of pit bulls and pit bull mixes to low-income owners<br />

who otherwise could not afford the surgeries. The funds will be used<br />

to pay for spaying/neutering approximately 50 pits at an average cost<br />

of $100 per dog.<br />

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul –<br />

Holy Name of Jesus Conference<br />

Funds will provide crisis resources/funding to the working poor when<br />

they face major, unexpected, non-standard expenses that are beyond<br />

their ability to pay.<br />

South Brevard Sharing Center<br />

The Coordinated Access Point project matches homeless and at-risk<br />

households to permanent solutions best suited to their situation. By<br />

providing services and light touch assistance for at-risk and homeless<br />

households, particularly those who are transitionally homeless, they<br />

are able to resolve situations quickly. Funding will provide households<br />

with the financial assistance necessary for ending and preventing<br />

homelessness with a goal of keeping them out of the homeless system<br />

by empowering self-resolution whenever possible.<br />

Titusville YMCA<br />

Expand the reach and impact of their 10-week summer camp by<br />

providing quality summer learning experiences for low income families<br />

that would otherwise not have the capacity to attend. The national<br />

YMCA curriculum philosophy is to provide a fun, safe atmosphere for<br />

social, mental and physical development over 4 disciplines: (1) values<br />

to reduce bullying, (2) reading to eliminate the summer slide, (3)<br />

wellness to fight childhood obesity, and (4) fostering family<br />

relationships.<br />

Agency Endowment Funds – More than 30 visionary local nonprofit agencies are<br />

building enduring assets and a stable revenue stream to ensure long-term sustainability<br />

by establishing an endowment fund at the Foundation. Give today or learn how these<br />

Better <strong>Together</strong> Fund – These unrestricted gifts provide the Foundation with flexibility<br />

in its charitable purpose, allowing the organization to respond to innovative projects<br />

and changing community needs.<br />

Brevard Relief Fund – The Brevard Relief Fund was seeded by a generous donor to help<br />

address local needs in the aftermath of a disaster.<br />

Children and Youth Fund – Youth development programs help under-served children<br />

achieve their full potential by focusing on programs that build social, ethical, emotional<br />

and physical health, as well as cognitive skills.<br />

Community Foundation Fund – The engine that keeps the Foundation going. By<br />

contributing to this fund, you are helping the Foundation grow faster to improve the<br />

quality of life for all in Brevard County. In addition to supporting the day-to-day operations<br />

of the Foundation, this fund also provides educational and training opportunities for<br />

professionals in the nonprofit community, as well as individual donors across the County.<br />

Community Scholarship Fund – Established in 2018 by a visionary anonymous donor, the<br />

endowed Community Scholarship Fund provides financial aid for deserving Brevard County<br />

residents pursuing post-secondary education, with priority for students who will be the first<br />

in their families to receive a bachelor’s degree.<br />

Endowment for the Arts – A thriving arts community supports economic development<br />

and enhances quality of life by providing opportunities to socialize, learn and celebrate<br />

the diversity and creativity of our community.<br />

Veterans Fund – We recognize the opportunity in our community to support the strengths<br />

and meet the needs of veterans and their families, through grants and the Brevard Veterans<br />

Resource Network.<br />
