BAY STRENGTH 

... each bay will accept a massive loading of 945kg as 

standard. This means that you do not have to plan your 

storage around the heaviest product and should you have 

need for strength, then 945kg is more than enough to 

do the job 

NO CROSSBRACES NEEDED 

IN THE LINSPACE SYSTEM 

... which is an insight into the overall strength of 

the system and proves to be such an advantage - as 

products can be stored and picked from either side of 

the bay, without having to plan the stock around awkward 

crossbraces. 

Also, in the future if you need to move or add a bay -

➊ LINSPACE BAYS 

Start building the strongest system in the business 

and fewer components means quicker assembly ... 


No crossbraces needed 

anywhere on the system 

Calculate your floor space and build your system to match. Once you’ve assessed 

the amount of floor space you have available you can determine how many bays you 

can fit in. 

The Linspace system is based on 1000mm wide bays in 5 depths ... 

300, 400, 500, 600 or 1000mm. 

Heights can be 1800 or 2200mm. 

When checking heights, note that if you’ve any overhead pipes or similar obstacles 

that could get in the way, then the top cover can be fitted lower down in one or 

more bays. 

The Linspace system is entirely free-standing and bolt free - it just slots into 

place and is made rigid by the connection of the uprights into the base feet - no 

cross bracing of any kind is required. 

Because the Linvar units are modular you can add bays at any time, when ordering 

you can use your imagination to create the exact storage system you need. 

We’ve designed this system so you can build to suit your own requirement - for 

example, when adding rear bays they don’t need to uniform - so you can construct 

a 2-deep bay perhaps using 400mm as the front bays and 500mm as the rear.

1. Start at the base and build 

up. Uprights simply slot into ‘C’ 

section fittings to join runs of 

bases/bays together. 

All front bases are common - rear 

bases fit into a rear channel. 

2. Fit the one-piece top covers 

which again are common. Once 

positioned and tapped into place 

the strong welded fitting make 

the bay/s rigid. 

3. Finally finish off with the 

beams that fit only to the ends 

of a bay run. Spring clips then 

fit to prevent any accidental 

dislodgement of components.

Once you’ve decided on the basic 

structure you can choose your 

shelves. These too are bolt-free and 

are secured with the easy-to-use 

clips which are supplied with the 

shelves. All shelves are 1000 wide 

and available in the following depths: 

300, 400, 500, 600 and 1000. 

The shelves clip in and are flush 

fitting. Once in position the 

whole structure is perfectly rigid 

and doesn’t require any crossbracing. 

This makes the system 

more durable and saves you time 

in assembly.

Linvar shelves are the easiest to fit and they don’t 

become wedged so should you want to reposition 

them, that is a matter of seconds and with location 

points set at 50mm you can match shelf distances

position them at an angle - front to back, or left to 

right if you want to.

CLADDING FOR YOUR SHELVING

Whichever cladding or Louvre panel you use is fast and 

straightforward to fit using these purpose made clips 

which are supplied. 

Our cladding is 

available in two 

types: 

open weldmesh 

and solid steel

your stock in place 

and can help keep 

it clean 

The benefit of this construction is that our cladding is so easy to fit, 

it just clips in, and can be fitted only where you need it which cuts out 

unnecessary costs. It can also be quickly moved from bay to bay if you 

rearrange your stock, without worrying about the strength of the bay, 

again cutting out unnecessary expense. Choose the lower-cost weldmesh 

to retain bulky items or the solid steel for smaller items or where a clean 

aesthetic appearance is important. Weldmesh also has an advantage in 

that it lets through light. It also allows air to circulate more freely and 

provides better visibility through units than the solid version. 

Made to fit - there are no gaps 

Despite the ease with which our cladding is clipped into place, it fits 

accurately and there are no gaps between the cladding or between the 

cladding and the shelves. Therefore stock stays where it should and the 

cladding doesn’t get misshapen. The same cladding that fits the ends of 

bays can also fit between bays and similarly cladding used at the backs of 

units can also be used between units when used back to back. 

Linspace bays are perfectly rigid on their own … 

What makes Linspace different is that the cladding isn’t used to add 

structural strength.

From the options below you can see just which storage 

units will fit into your available space. 

You can choose from any of these top-selling 

configurations to give you instant storage. The big 

advantage with Linspace is that as and when your 

storage needs to expand, or change, it’s easy to add 

extra bays or extra shelves. Everything is modular 

and easy to assemble and there are no bolts or crossbracing. 

Once you’ve assembled even the smallest 

single bay you’ve got a strong rigid unit that will take 

up to 945kg. Shelves can be easily moved to suit 

your stock. The back-to-back unit offers exceptional 

storage capacity. It can also accommodate a wide 

range of different sized stock because of the way the 

shelves locate. Each one of the four bays can have 

shelves positioned at different heights side by side or 

back to back. 

The standard bay configurations at the bottom of this 

page are the most popular and you can of course add 

any of the accessories shown on the previous pages to 

suit your storage needs

in modules of 1000 wide with shelf options of 300 or

THERE’S NEVER BEEN AN EASIER WAY TO ORDER PALLET RACKING! 

ORDER YOUR PALLET RACKING IN COMPONENT FORM OR IN COMPLETE BAYS 

Over the next few pages we will show you how to order pallet racking - confident in the knowledge 

that you will get all the right components and that it will exactly meet your requirements. 

Option 1. Order in component form - this has the advantage that you have more combinations of 

components to choose from, allowing you slightly more versatility in your pallet racking design. 


Option 2. The easiest of all options (shown overleaf) - is to simply choose the size you need and 

order from the standard bay sizes shown. 

1. HOW TO CALCULATE THE SIZE YOU NEED? 

The first thing to do when ordering pallet racking is to decide which frame depth and beam 

width you need together with the height. This will depend upon the type and size of pallet you 

wish to store. 

Pallet racking has infinite style variations and any product can be stored and a number of 

picking options are available which we will explain as you look further through this section 

However there are two pallet sizes that are used far more than any other: 

1200mm wide x 1000mm deep pallets or 800mm wide x 1200mm deep often 

referred to as ‘europallets’. These two sizes are fast becoming the industry standard, and 

this section generally concentrates on the storage of these two sizes. 

2. WHAT HEIGHT DO YOU NEED? 

The height of the pallet racking will depend upon a few factors: 

What height pallets you need to store? - How high is your storage area and how high does your 

fork truck reach and at what safety level?. 

Remember that with the first beam level being no more than 1500mm from the floor a full 

bay will accept a maximum of 8000kg. (UDL) so this weight needs to be calculated for the 

number of pallets you intend to place into each bay. Once these are decided it is generally most 

effective to go as high as possible.

3. CHOOSING YOUR BEAMS 

Again the depth and width of the pallet racking bay will be determined by the size of pallet and 

the way in which you wish to load it into the bay. 

 

The width of each pallet racking bay can have a clear entry of 

1219 1524, 1829, 2134, 2438, 2743, 3048, 3353, 3658mm 

depending on the beams you choose. 

When calculating the number of pallets per pair of beams you need to take into 

consideration 

• The weight of the pallet to be stored 

• The operating requirement for a 75mm clearance 

between a pallet and the frame and a minimum of 

75mm clearance between each pallet. This has 

already been allowed for in all the examples shown on 

these pages depending on the beams you choose.

Which size you use will determine the width and depth of the racking you will need. The depth of the frame has been designed to allow 

for the pallet overhang and distribution of weight. 

Important Safety aspects: 

• To be sure of adequate rigidity and safety, you must use at least 2 beam levels per bay and a minimum run of two 

bays. 

• Each bay has a maximum loading of up to 8000kg, it is important that you calculate the total weight of pallets in 

each bay 

to ensure the maximum loading capacity isn’t exceeded. 

• Please check that the pallets used are in good condition and are suitably designed to be stored within a pallet 

racking system. 

• All frames should be firmly secured using floor anchors. 

• We would recommend high level access equipment on all installations exceeding 6000mm.

1. The height of your pallets plus its load will determine the distance between pallet 

beams. This then determines the frame height and the number of beams required 

per bay. 

The example shows the frames at 4200mm high. 

2. Frame depth and width depends upon the type of pallet you use 

- the most common are shown on the opposite page. The 

pallets shown in this example are type 1200mm wide x

3. Depending upon the available area and the 

layout is often a space economy to use the 

bays back to back. This lets you pick from 

both sides with a minimum aisle width.
