Help make Glencoe’s Fourth of July celebration unforgettable While the Village of Glencoe’s official anniversary of incorporation was on March 29, the community’s sesquicentennial celebration has just gotten started. To make the 2019 4th of July festivities worthy of the Village’s 150th birthday, the Glencoe Park District has partnered with the Village to make this already awesome annual event even bigger and better. In addition to your 4th of July favorites like the Fun Run and Glencoe’s Got Talent, new this year, we are expanding the parade route so that participants and on-lookers alike end at Lakefront Park. Once there, the Party in the Park will start right away, with beer and wine sales, live music, food trucks, inflatable games, a dunk tank, contests and more! The evening will round out with a performance by the Blooze Brothers followed by a special sesquicentennial-inspired fireworks show. Also new this year, we are inviting any and all community and veteran’s organizations, religious institutions, school clubs, elected officials, neighborhood groups or teams to participate in the parade and in our new float/entry competition. Floats and other parade entries will be judged on overall appearance, incorporation of the parade theme (Happy Birthday Glencoe), incorporation of patriotic elements, use of recycled and sustainable materials, originality and the number of participants in the group. Register and view all parade rules and regulations at www.glencoeparkdistrict.org. Registration closes on Friday, June 21, and the parade order and staging diagram will be posted by Friday, June 28.
