Patsy Burrows and her husband know how
important the kitchen is. Working together they
have transformed the house's former dining room
into a large, country style kitchen, with beautiful
natural wood and swathes of natural light.
Ever in sync, the couple decided early on that they
wanted to install a Belfast sink with a traditional
brass antique tap, which would compliment the
handles of their cupboards. This lead them to
House of ENKI. Patsy tells us:-
"Once we started browsing, we were spoilt for
choice when searching House of ENKI's beautiful
antique bronze selection! We eventually decided
on the Langley colonial bridge sink mixer tap, and
were absolutely thrilled with the product when it
arrived.
We have almost finished our kitchen now and it
looks better than we could have hoped for! It
might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but as long
as it’s perfect to you that’s all that matters , make
your home your haven!"
Photographer Sarah Briggs and her husband
have spent the past year, enrolling on the challenge
of renovating and extending their Edwardian,
home in the Derbyshire countryside.
Despite the many challenges including a wild
overgrown jungle - they call the garden, knocking
through fireplaces and brickwork, the bathroom
has quickly been a welcome retreat after days
of hard work. The room blends modern and
traditional features, Moroccan tiles and splashes
of colour. Sarah has been using our range of
bespoke antique bronze fittings to finish.
Sarah explains: "I love colour and am a bit of
a maximalist, so Sophie Robinson is one of my
favourite interior designs, Mathew Williamson is
amazing too. Anna Hayman has gorgeous patterns,
I like to look at her fabrics and wallpapers! But I
do get a lot of inspiration from Instagram, so not
always designers just other normal people like me!
© Sarah Briggs
I saw the tiles a while back so knew we wanted
those for this bathroom, but we didn’t want to
overdo it on the walls so we’ve kept it white and
black (which is hard for me as I love colour) So then
we just fancied something different from Chrome,
gold was too much for my husband, he wanted
something less shiny, so we looked for brushed
brass and that’s where I came across House of
ENKI, I searched long and hard over the internet
and ENKI were far the best value for money and
excellent quality."
DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT
LYNSEY HOSKIN
Derbyshire based, Lynsey Hoskin of Asheville Interior Design was a finalist on Grand Designs Live 2019. Her latest
'Under the Stairs' Project of an Industrial Developers Room brought her to House of ENKI.
HOUSE OF ENKI | 12

A concrete distress finish via the wallpaper is combined
with other natural elements of stone and marble. Lynsey’s
candid photographs in a negative finish were displayed
throughout along with occasional hits of crystal and props
for realism. The design's main focus a developer's
workstation features a bespoke purpose-built sink from
Richards of Hull and a gorgeous tap from House of ENKI.
Lynsey, a first-time buyer for the store explains why:
" Whilst searching for industrial style taps I liked the
combination of the steel with rubber Flexi tap, it’s a real
statement piece which adds that bit more to the design
and feels really slick."
Having spent 14 years plus in marketing and
project management, through living in the USA
Lynsey decided to study following her calling for
interior design. Dedicating her time now between
the UK and Turkey, she provides various tailored
services, enjoys helping clients push the boundaries
and loves the diversity of her work.
Her company 'Asheville Interior Design' provides bespoke
stylish interior solutions for contemporary everyday living.
Creating beautiful spaces. As a fairly new start up
independent business it’s a great achievement and start
to her year for her project reaching the finals of the show;
and was proudly displayed between 4-12th May 2019 at
At the entry stage for Grand Designs Live 2019,
Lynsey decided on a practical and elaborate use of
the spacee 'under the stairs'. Inspired by her love of
photography, she created her
concept: An Industrial Developers Room.
Jennifer Fletcher is an interior styler, who has eagerly
begun work on renovating her family home. Her beautiful
bathroom is light, spacious and filled with touches of
individual personality throughout. Using the House of
ENKI, helped her to come up with the perfect vanity unit,
to centralise the design.
"We were close to the finishing line of our major
renovation work when we realised our existing family
bathroom no longer lived up to the standard of the
rest of our home and so we decided to give it a refresh
sooner than we had initially planned. We came across
House of Enki, admittedly by accident but we're very glad
we found their product range.
We struggled to find a vanity unit that was not too
modern and sleek but not overly traditional or fussy as
we live in a period home, but we're a modern, young (ish!)
family. We found this vanity unit and basin and liked the
fact it had a good amount of storage for toys, lotions
and potions and the design was a good mix of modern
and traditional. We went on to buy our taps from House
of Enki too, they worked perfectly with the rest of the
bathroom and the quality has been fantastic so I would
recommend House of Enki to others."
BEAUTIFUL BATHROOMS
Photos © Christina Green
Christina Green has always gravitated towards beuaitul things. which lead her and her partner John to tackle the
mamouth task of renovating their beautiful 3-bed Edwardian terraced house. Her Instagram is filled with a beautiful
collection of beautiful plush furnishings, repainted walls, wooden accents, and original features. A treasure trove
of modern and antique design and her adorable little puppy, She explains: - "Initially, we were quite naïve about
how much work the house needed. I’ll happily admit there were full-on tears and panic attacks once we realised
the full extent of it! So, I turned to Instagram for inspiration. I started by searching renovation hashtags and soon
found myself immersed in beautiful houses, gorgeous interior design and lots of people in the same scary boat as
us. I started looking at our house differently and realised how lucky we are to have so many well-preserved original
features throughout and the potential the house had.
Photo © Christina Green

I decided instead of being petrified about what we had to do, I would be excited and throw myself into the project.
"I had absolutely no experience in this field, dealing with builders, electricians, plumbers and completely styling
our new home to our taste was a first for me. But, seeing what other people in the same situation had achieved
via Instagram inspired me to believe it was possible and hugely rewarding. Family and friends were encouraging
and wise, offering advice and reality checks. I had a blank canvas to work with, and loads of ideas I’d found on
Instagram. I began researching like mad, spending loads of time looking for the exact look I knew I wanted, but on a
tight budget. I have quite a specific style and decided to take some risks with colours, patterns and materials, which,
thankfully, have paid off!
For the bathroom I was mostly inspired by a specific photo I found on Topps Tiles Instagram page of traditional black
and white marble floor tiles in a diamond pattern combined with their rich peacock coloured metro wall tiles. I used
this as the basis of my design, changing it to include only a half wall of tiles so that the top half would be painted
white to keep the room bright. I knew I wanted to rip out the old water tank and install a shower cubicle in its place
and I knew I wanted traditional features such as a freestanding bath and traditional yet stylish bronze hardware for
the taps, shower head etc.
I came across House of ENKI when researching traditional bronze hardware for the kitchen and bathroom. I also
noticed some fellow renovators on Instagram had used their products. I was thrilled when I found House of ENKI
had the exact style of taps, shower heads and shower temperature controllers that I wanted at a very affordable
price. I saved the links to all the products I wanted and couldn’t wait to order them. Once they arrived I was even
happier, they looked so beautiful and people couldn’t believe how inexpensive they were when I told them. I think
they perfectly suit the style and colour scheme of my bathroom and I have had so many compliments."
HOUSE OF ENKI | 19

`
Gone are the days, where bathroom fixtures and fittings are limited to traditional metalics. We offer a bespoke
collection of stunningly contempoary black taps that transform white tiles and brickwork, to give a stylish, designer
look - whatever your budget.
Customer Natasha from Project Twenty Seven explains how she transformed her master ensuite bathroom.
"My husband and I are so indecisive and really struggle to come to an agreement. We had been trying to choose
tiles for the en-suite for about 3 weeks until I exploded because everything I chose he hated and vice versa so in
the end I said ‘go on Pinterest, find a bathroom you like and if I like it too we will try our best to match that’ and
within hours we had made our decision.
Harry is black obsessed! He knew from the get go he wanted black taps and I didn’t have to be persuaded. I loved
the idea, it’s original and modern. We Googled until we couldn’t Google anymore to find ‘matte black’ taps and
House of ENKI was the only place that offered stylish matte black taps.
I would describe it is modern and fresh. It’s on trend but still offers that original feel."
