Ride 4 Violet-Grace
A sponsored cycle and fun day will take place next
month in memory of Violet-Grace Youens, a local
girl who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run in
2017. Violet donated two of her organs and inspired
countless other people to join the organ donor
register – a true superhero.
The annual Ride 4 Violet-Grace event begins at
the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday, July 21,
incorporating both a 10-mile cycle and a longer
motorbike ride. Both routes pass Whiston Hospital
before the motorcycles continue on to Alder Hey
Hospital – both of which tried their best to save
Violet’s life – before returning to the stadium.
The ride will raise money for newly established
Violet-Grace’s Gift, a concept which aims to help

families in the local community struggling with
the bereavement of a child while raising awareness
for organ donation. Proceeds will also go to the
Isabella-Rose Foundation in memory of Isabella-
Rose Parr, who was stillborn.
Rachel from Violet-Grace’s Gift said: ‘We’re working
hard with the council and local emergency services
to make sure the Ride 4 Violet-Grace is as safe as
possible. All we ask for is a £5 donation to ride the
route, and that you preferably wear something
purple or superhero themed!
‘It is quite emotional seeing all the bikes and cyclists
leave the stadium. We receive such great support
from the biking community, it’s truly amazing’, she
continued.
A family fun day will also take place on the day,
featuring plenty of bouncy castles, raffles and
refreshments, along with an organ donation stand
to gather more information about the register. Kids
can get up close and personal with a fire engine
and blood bikes, creating a great family-oriented
atmosphere.
The fun day runs from 10am-3pm, while the bike
ride begins at 12pm. For more information, see the
