Call of Duty has been around since 2011, it
has been 7 years since it first came out, Call of
Duty 1’s graphics was not that great but, that
was just the first Call of Duty that came out.
There are a total of 15 Call of duty games,
According to Giant bomb “The Call Of Duty
series is a popular first-person shooter
franchise that dates back to 2003. Since then,
Call Of Duty has gone on to become one of the
most successful video game franchises in
history, with each new game since Call Of

millions of copies.” This is true because 100
million people played Call of Duty at the time
and people may still play it.

black and white because it was built in 1972 when there were not many technological advances in
computers and coding programs. According to Wikipedia, Pong was developed by “Atari” Allan Alcorn
developed the game of pong. The game Pong was in an arcade machine when it first came out, Allan
Alcorn was born in 1948, he created pong when he was 24 years old. This is true because pong wouldn’t
have been created if he didn’t invent it.

Too much hype?
How can a game be overhyped? This article will help educate
on what hype is, the effects of hype, and how it can ruin
games.
Imagine after countless
months and countless
days, that game you
were waiting for
finally came out. All
the seconds, minutes,
hours you spent
researching it because
you thought it was
going to be fun and
interesting. Now that
it's came out, it's not at
all like what was
promised. This is what
happened to hundreds
of people who invested
in the game no man’s
sky.
What is hype?
Hype is a term used to
describe the action of
making someone
excited or being
excited. This term
basically describes the
action of making
someone excited or
“hyped”. It can also be
used in the context of
being excited or
“hyped”. When you
look for what the
meaning of “hype” is
descriptions such as
“To stimulate, exite, or
agitate” or “to intensify

quicker too fame. But
in simpler terms and
with more detail: we
already know hype
basically means
excitement, but what
are the actual effects of
hype? Well (in
marketing context)
hype is used to get
people excited for a
product before it's
actual release making
it easier for the product
to succeed. Though
sometimes it can be
“over-hyped” this
effect causes the
consumers
expectations too rise,
so when the actual
product releases it
causes mass
disappointment. As
said in this article “it
was the very
embodiment of a
company making
grand promises, only
to then fall drastically
short of the mark.” this
sentence states
perfectly what the
negative effects of

hype are, a company
promising too much
only to not deliver
what was promised and
inevitable getting
backlash for it. Hype
can have good and bad
effects. The good
effects being the
company getting lots
of publicity for a
product that hasn’t
released yet, the bad
effects being the
company raising to
much expectations and
getting really bad
backlash on their
product at release.
How can hype
ruin games?
Hype distorts the
image of a game by
raising expectations.
And as said in the
previous paragraphs,
hype can be both good
and bad, but for now
where focusing on the
bad. Once a product
(or in this case a game)
is hyped up enough the
actual image of the
game starts to get
distorted with wants
instead of facts, the
consumer starts to be
carried away by the

promises of the
producer so when the
product is actual
released it's nothing
like the expectations.
As said in the last
paragraph “it was the

them. Hype is what
happens when a
company bites off
more than they can
chew, the effects of
this are the consumer
getting disappointed
and usually causing
large backlash because

About Patrick
I got into video games when I was somewhat young. I would
play games on my old Ipad all day, and even sometimes
sneak it up into my room to play more games and watch
more YouTube. Then for Christmas I got a Chromebook, for
playing flash games, watching YouTube, and for middle
school since I would need to bring in my own computer. But I
wanted to play more than just flash games, I wanted to play
games on steam and roblox. So then I got a laptop. It could
run roblox and some steam games well but others not very
well. I have some good memories on that laptop, like playing
roblox for 7 or 8 hours straight on a summer day with my
friend Trey, or getting my steam account that I still have now.
But like I said earlier, it was not good enough for some
games. Then comes the Christmas of 2017, when I got the
desktop pc I have now. I love it. Even though it can’t run a lot
of games well, I got a streaming program where I could have
my games played on a better computer and then that sent
back to my pc very fast so I can still give input to the other
computer without delay. I even have an ad of it in this
magazine. This is when I got into Cs:Go, Rust, and Fortnite a
little bit more. I don't play Fortnite anymore, and I only really
play Rust in the summers because of how much time it takes
up. But I play Cs:Go all the time. Rust is my favorite game but
Cs:Go is a close second. And that brings us to today, you are
reading this magazine and my story. This could change and
evolve, I don't know. Maybe I’ll play other games and do
other things. But for now, this is my story of how I got into
and played video games. So thank you for picking up this
magazine, reading my story, and hopefully, the entire

I think the first game i truly got into was Minecraft,
it's by far the oldest memory of gaming i can
remember.
Back when i lived in Chicago i remember playing
minecraft for the first time, it was late i think, and me
and my babysiter where taking turns on Minecraft on
the computer, i was having trouble using the flying
mechanic in the game. After that i remember playing
Minecraft and watching Minecraft related videos
almost religiously, i was really addicted to it. I would
watch “Lets play series” and watch “Building
tutorials” though i got into the building aspect later,
actually i don’t even think i had minecraft until much
later.
It's fairly hard to remember what exactly i played or
when i did, but i have to say, Minecraft has to be, and
always will be one of my favorite games i've ever
played, from watching little videos about it, then
playing it my self, it had a huge impact on me. If i
hadn’t learnt of Minecraft i don’t know what my
childhood would have been like (i would have
probably played outside more), i don't know what i
would have been like, but whatever that reason, I'm
thankful i played Minecraft, it truly shaped me. 31

I started out by watching youtube players play online games
and then I played Minecraft, when I got older I started playing
GTA 5 and when i got even older, I bought my own
playstation and then I bought Ps4 games that are really
interesting such as the Far Cry games, Call of duty games on
playstation and xbox, then I started to buy games that aren’t
really interesting and when I bought a game called Detroit:
Become human (don’t but it) when I got that game, I played
for hours/days to beat the game and I am ignoring the game
because it’s not fun at all. For christmas my parents got me
an xbox one and I played every day until Fortnite came out,
one day I got so mad I broke an ipad(s). I broke a window,
Controller, Tv (throwing a wii controller), Computer
(Chromebook screen then had to be replaced and is still
broken), Phone, Switch protector screen. These are all things
that I broke and I got mad and my parents would tell me “DO
you think that we have the money to replace these things.”
my response would be “yes?” their response would be “NO.”
I would play video games that have good ratings and that
are really interesting and are fun to play, My first game would
be minecraft, because minecraft came out in 2009, I played
ever since I got my xbox and then my Ipad, then my dad’s
Macbook (got mad and deleted then i couldn’t get it back,
then the Macbook didn’t work) I still live in cincinnati but I
remember that my favorite game is minecraft, when I played
every day when I got home, i’d spend every hour there is to
play video games and when I do I would play till I beat the
game completely/get the trophies too.
