Letter to the reader
As a kid, I never wanted to read Harry Potter. My parents nagged me
constantly to try reading it. I’ve always been a big reader, but it wasn’t
until fourth grade that I read Harry Potter for the first time. I loved the
first book instantly. My parents bought me the rest of the series as
E-books and I read them all in less than two weeks. By the time I got to
the last books I was reading so fast that I would skip entire sentences.
So naturally I had to reread the entire series the second I’d finished it.
Harry Potter was an obsession of mine from then on. It introduced me
to a huge fandom of people who loved the books as much as I did.
Whoever’s reading this, I hope you love Harry Potter just as much.

I was 11 when I discovered Harry Potter. At the time I had never really
been interested in it. I was in ELA class with my best friend and she
would always tell me about Harry Potter and show movie clips form it.
I remember she showed me Harry getting attacked by the dementor
in the order of the phoenix, and fighting the dragon during the
triwizard tournament, and Harry catching his First snitch. Later in the
year my sister started to read them. She was reading the Prisoner of
azkaban when I was bored and picked up the first book. I was so
enchanted with the book that I read the rest of the series and the
cursed child immediately after. I absolutely love the fandom and I
hope you enjoyed as much as I did.

The Wand Chooses The Wizard
“Subtle laws govern wand
ownership, but the conquered
wand will usually bend its will to
its new master.” - Wand Woods,
J.K Rowling.
As Ollivander told Harry, it’s really
the wand that chooses the wizard. To
pick out a wand, you must go to a
wand store such as Ollivander’s and
wave around different wands until
one has a magical reaction, such as
summoning sparks. The only other
way to get a wand is to win it. Wands
must be won from people forcefully,
or they will not be loyal and will
refuse to work. Depending on the
wood and core, some wands are more
loyal and others change masters
more willingly.
Speaking of which, what are wand
woods and cores? How do they work?
The Meaning of a Wand
“Unicorn hair generally produces
the most consistent magic, and is
least subject to fluctuations and
blockages. Wands with unicorn
cores are generally the most
difficult to turn to the Dark Arts.”

Every wand is made up of an outer
wood and a magical core. Wands pick
people based on personality. The core
and wood of someone’s wand can tell
you something about them. For
example, according to Wand Woods -
Pottermore, people with alder wood
wands are “often helpful, considerate
and most likeable” (J.K Rowling, 6).
Different wands woods and cores are
also better at different types of magic.
Unicorn hair cores are consistent and
don’t perform dark magic well, but
dragon heartstring cores are the most
powerful cores. Wand woods and cores
interact with each other and form
unique combinations.

Famous Wands in Wizardry

cores (phoenix feathers, both taken
from none other than Fawkes), yet
these characters did have a lot in

There are many famous wands in the
Harry Potter series. The elder wand is
the most powerful wand to exist. It’s also
one of the three deathly hallows. It was
owned originally by one of the three
brothers, Antioch Peverell. It eventually
makes its way into Harry’s possession.
Another famous wand is the
wand of Salazar Slytherin.
Slytherin’s wand was used by
Isolt Sayre, founder of
Ilvermorny (the American school
of magic) and contained a
basilisk horn. People who could
speak parseltongue could talk to
it.
Lastly, there’s the twin cores of
Harry and Voldemort. Their
wands both had phoenix feather
cores from the same phoenix,
which gave them a magical
connection. This connection
saved Harry’s life. Because
Voldemort’s wand couldn’t kill
it’s twin, Voldemort couldn’t kill
Harry.

Magical Butterbeer Recipe
INGREDIENTS
2 liter bottle of cream soda
chilled
1/4 tsp caramel extract
1/4 tsp butter extract
For the Cream Topping:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup butterscotch
topping
1/4 cup powdered sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In large mixing bowl, whip heavy cream until it
forms stiff peaks.
2. Add butterscotch topping and powdered sugar.
3. Mix the caramel and butter extracts with the
cream soda and then pour the mixture into clear
cups or mugs.
4. Top with butterscotch cream topping and enjoy!

Charlie is a great guy, but never appears much in the

Arthur’s an awesome dad, but does he beat Bill? I

famous witch or wizard.
Chocolate frogs can be
bought at honeydukes of the
trolly on the hogwarts
express. The only known
ingredient in chocolate frogs
is croakoa which makes them
act as if they are alive.
Chocolate Cauldrons
Chocolate cauldrons have been
around since the oldest wizards
can remember’. They are a
delicious cake dipped in
chocolate and filled with fire
whiskey.
Bertie Bott's Every
Flavour Beans
These beans have flavors ranging
from booger to grass to
marshmallow eat with caution. They
usually cost about 6 sickles anywhere
you buy them.
Acid Pops
Acid pops are have said to put
holes in your tongue! Acid
pops are also one of
passwords that Dumbledore
used to get into his office.
Treacle Fudge
Treacle fudge is a kind of fudge. Rubeus Hagrid usually made this, and
according to him, "gets rid o' slugs in a jiffy". All of the known ingredients
are cocoa beans, gerander, tentacula sap, valerian, and wormseed. All of
these can be found in hagrid's garden.

Albus Dumbledore
Gryffindors are brave,
daring and chivalrous.
Many think that it’s the best
house. Certainly, it has lots
of famous alumni, but it’s
no better than any other
house.
A lot of people see
Hufflepuffs as the boring or
useless house, but this
couldn’t be farther from
true. Hufflepuffs are kind,
loyal, and very
hardworking.

Harry Potter Exploding
Bonbons!
These Bonbon are simply magical and will explode in your mouth!
Prepare some vanilla cake batter.
Let cake cool.
Slice the cake up and form crumbs.
Make some vanilla frosting and mix
with cake.
Shape the mixture into balls.
Form a well in each ball.

Fill all of the wells with harry potter house
colors pop rocks.
Take more cake mixture and
place on top of the pop rocks
covering them.
Melt some white chocolate and pour it
onto the cake balls.
Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Color white chocolate yellow.
Pipe lightning scars on the cake balls.
Freeze for 10 more
minutes.
