WHAT IS IT?
CS:GO is a computer-based video game
made by Valve and a first-person shooter game
(FPS) that you play with other people
(multiplayer). CS:GO has been available since
2012, but the counter strike franchise has been
around since 1999. It is the second biggest
competitive online game in the world, and the
biggest FPS game. The number one competitive
game is called Dota 2 which was also created by
Valve.
Players in CS:GO are assigned to be are
either are a CT (counter-terrorist) or a T
(terrorist). Your goal as a CT is to either defuse
the bomb, rescue the hostage or kill all the
terrorists.
THE GOAL
As a T your goal is to either plant the
bomb and protect it, protect the hostages, or
kill all the counter-terrorists. In CS:GO there
are different game modes, but the most
popular is defuse mode which is
competitive. Each round of play lasts about
45 minutes and has five players on each
team. Players are matched together based
on their rank/skill level. At the end of each
round, the players change sides and
terrorists become counter-terrorists.
HOW TO PLAY
At the beginning of each game or match,
players are given $800 of in-game money. The
economy of the game is very important. Money
rewards are also given for winning (or losing) a
round of play, defusing a bomb, and high value
kills. The money can be used to buy items in the
game like better weapons.
Primary weapons are shotguns,
submachine guns, and rifles. Actions that are
seen as uncooperative to the game such as
killing teammates cause players to be penalized.
A first-time penalty might be to be kicked out of a
game. A second penalty might be to be banned
from the game for a week.
PRO PLAYERS
CS:GO has professional players that compete
in tournaments in the United States and around
the world. Many tournaments have cash prizes of
over $1,000,000 and are broadcast on TV. Last
month there were 20,535,709 unique players on
CS:GO around the world.
About The Author
I Started Playing CS:GO in December
2018, Right as the game went free to
play (F2P).
Most of the games I play I end up
moving on from in a matter of days or
weeks. But not for CS:GO. It has been
5 months and my love for the game is
as high as ever.
The first case I ever unboxed was a
AWP Hyper Beast. Because of this
semi rare skin I decided I was going to
be an awper.
I play VERY inconsistently. Sometimes
I play like a silver 1 (which is the lowest
rank) and other times a LEM (quite high
rank).
