The creative home for chef Sue Powell<br />
and her business partner David<br />
Fleming, The Gluten Free Kitchen,<br />
started life in the village of Aysgarth<br />
in North Yorkshire. Aware of the<br />
challenges faced by people with coeliac<br />
disease when sourcing good quality<br />
food that is free from gluten, Sue began to experiment<br />
with a series of recipes. The range of dishes created by<br />
Sue set a high standard for taste, appearance, texture<br />
and shelf life. This innovation has continued and<br />
been recognised by a flurry of awards for her ‘free<br />
from’ cakes, puddings and savoury pies.<br />
Free From Wheat, Dairy, Egg, Gluten and Soya<br />
Since starting out in 2005, The Gluten Free<br />
Kitchen has grown rapidly. The business is still<br />
very much Yorkshire based but has moved to<br />
Leyburn with larger production facilities and a retail<br />
outlet. The ‘free from’ ethos opens up this delicious<br />
range of foods to those wishing to remove wheat, dairy<br />
and egg from their diet, whilst not<br />
compromising on flavour.<br />
