Himalayas: Escape from
the heat, try VASHISHT

The best way to escape this heat – to fly to the Himalayas. Or fly to Delhi and from there go by bus
(12 hours, RS 1200) – it will be cheaper. If your destination is Manali, you can stay at Vashisht too,
a holy village just 40 minutes on foot or 20 minutes’ drive from Manali, founded by Guru Vashisht,
who was the spiritual guru and teacher of Ram and Laxman. It’s 20-25 degrees in the afternoon, but
gets a bit chill after sunset (around +10).

WHY VASHISHT?
It’s close to mother nature! Crystal
clear air. Almost daily, during the
evenings local shamans perform
dancing and pooja opposite the
Vashisht Temple, where you can take a
bath in the hot spring, locals have been
doing it daily for centuries. Believe me,
it is really very hot. And you should
not just stare at the people taking bath
(which is not polite by the way), you
too have to do the same . And all your
bad karma will be washed away.
In a 30 minutes climb from this wooden
temple to top of the mountain, you will
find the gorgeous Yogini Waterfall.
And what a splendid view! Pine and
eucalyptus trees, blooming roses, apple
gardens – entire Kullu Valley is visible.
On the street of Vashisht , there are
a lots of interesting shops where you
can buy hats, traditional kullu caps,
sweaters, woollen socks etc. Indian,
Israeli, continental cuisine is served
at most of the restaurants having
beautiful mountain view: you always
can chose between democratic Rangoli
or a bit more luxury The World Peace
Café.

one can find even a peaceful house on
top of the mountain for RS10 000 per
month. But if you just want to enjoy

Vasishtha Yoga House.
It's a quiet and cozy guesthouse,
surrounded by beautiful Himalayan
ecosphere, located right next to the
famous natural hot spring bath. It’s

You must visit Tibetan Monastery,
Manu Temple and Hadimba Temple as
well as Nature Park at Manali.
Just 1 hour by local bus (RS40), you
can reach Nagar: The Castle, Tripura
Sundari and Krishna Temples, Roerich
Art Gallery and Estate and of course
pure Himalayan honey is available at
some shops.
