Nathurmal mines
allowed to restart
mining activities
Directorate of Mines and Geology
(DMG) has issued order allowing
HL Nathurmal Mines at Harvalem
to restart its mining activities with
annual iron ore production of 75,000
metric tonnes (MT).
State government had last week
granted its consent to Nathurmal Mines
to start operations after obtaining all
the requisite permissions including
environmental clearance from Union
Ministry of Environment and Forest
(MoEF).Speaking to Herald, lease holder
Harish Melvani said the order with
production limit upto 75,000 metric tons
per year is issued by the department.
For obtaining EC, the lease holder will
have to prepare the Environment Impact
Assessment (EIA) report. Once EC is
obtained, the lease holder will have to
seek consent to operate from Goa State
Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
The mining lease is part of those 18
leases, which do not fall within the
ambit of Supreme Court order dated
February 7, 2018, which had quashed
and set aside second renewals granted
to 88 mining leases.The mining
operations in the State are shut since
March, 2018.
In the wake of almost ten per cent slide
in arrival of international tourists in
Goa during the ongoing season, the Goa
government is undertaking various
measures that include marketing the
tourism potential of the coastal state
aggressively at various forums.
Tourism Minister Manohar
Ajogankar Monday said the state
government was hopeful that the
trend will be reversed in the upcoming
tourist season beginning post-monsoon.
He blamed various factors like
slowdown in economies worldwide for
the dip in tourist footfall.
"We are hopeful that things would
surely improve by the next season
which will kick off after monsoon.
We have been involved into extensive
marketing and showcasing of Goa
across different destinations through
travel marts, exhibitions and other
events," the minister said.
Beaches in Goa will be marked as
"no swimming zones" tentatively from
the first week of June when rains are
expected to hit the state, he added.
As per Tourism department data, the
number of foreign chartered flights has
gone down from around 1900 to 1500 in
the ongoing tourist season.
Destinations from Russia, a major
contributor of tourists, have already
wound up their chartered flights much
Sawant proves his mettle...
but has task cut out
On March 19, at 1.48 am, a minute after
the national anthem was played at the
Raj Bhavan, Dr. Pramod Sawant took
oath as chief minister of Goa.
This happened two days after the
demise of the former chief minister
Manohor Parrikar and many had
written him off then saying he would
not be able to fit into the former
defence minister’s shoes.
A two-time MLA who started as a
karyakarta and steadily rose in rank
and profile. proved his mettle within
two months of taking charge.
He spearhead the election campaign
in the just-concluded bypolls and Lok
Sabha polls wherein he gave his party
a 4-2 victory.
He was seen at every rally from
Pernem to Canacona for Lok Sabha
polls and gave equal time to bypolls in
Shiroda, Mandrem, Mapusa and Panjim.
This not only gave BJP the huge win
but also made sure the government
alliance government became more stable.
The BJP number before bypoll was 14
and with the support of Goa Forward
3 and Independents 3 had formed a
Dr. Pramod Sawant
coalition government.
On the other hand the Congress also
had 14 and had support of one NCP
MLA and would have got support from
MGP’s Sudin Dhavalikar.
The 3-1 victory in the by-poll meant,
BJP became more stronger.
“My government has become more
stronger now,” Sawant stated.
Asked whether he had any doubts
about alliance partners in case he
failed to get numbers in by-polls,
Sawant shot back, "you should ask this
to alliance partners, not me.”
Major tasks ahead
With by-polls over and all alliance
partners now firmly in the saddle,
Sawant will have to now match the
expectations of the people.
Employment and Revenue generation
are some of the major tasks he has at hand.
One has to remember, Sawant has
taken charge when Model Code of
Conduct was already in force and could
not do much.
However his litmus tests starts now.
Sawant told a daily here that he will
try his best to meet expectations.
“I don’t know if I will be able to fill
in the shoes of Manohar Parrikar, he
was a very tall leader …It is a very
big responsibility that the party has
given me. I will try my best to fulfill it.
I am what I am today because of him,"
Sawant said.
Goa looks for course
correction as foreign tourists
on decline
before the end of the season, it said.
According to a senior official of
Tourism department, Goa attracts
around 60 lakh domestic travellers and
around four lakh international visitors
per year, who arrive by chartered or
scheduled flights.
Meanwhile, Ajgaonkar said efforts
are underway to boost international
tourist footfall by allowing events
like Sunburn Electronic Dance Music
Festival.
"There is no issue as far as visits
of domestic tourists are concerned.
Tourism department is largely looking
at inviting high spending travellers
who will be contributing to the
economy of the state," he said.
Tourism department has identified
poor infrastructure and unclean
beaches as main reasons for a drop in
the number of international tourists.
The minister said tourism
department has engaged a beach
cleaning agency which has been
working round-the-clock to keep the
shorelines clean.
"We have also introduced a concept
of reporting the piled garbage on
the beaches on Whatsapp. If anyone
reports about garbage lying strewn
on the Whatsapp number of the
department, immediate attention is
given to clean it up," he said.

‘NaMoment’: How front pages reported Narendra
Modi’s huge mandate for a second term
All regional and national newspapers credited Modi for the BJP’s sweeping victory.
As predicted by pollsters, the Bharatiya
Janata Party-led National Democratic
Alliance swept the Lok Sabha elections.
As of 10.08 am on Friday, the Election
Commission data said the BJP has won
299 seats and is leading in four more
while the Congress bagged 52 seats.
Once all the results are declared, the
NDA’s tally is likely to touch 351 while
the United Progressive Alliance may be
restricted at 92.
“This is not Modi’s victory,” the
prime minister said in his victory
speech on Thursday at the BJP
headquarters in New Delhi. “This is
victory of honest people’s hope, this is
a victory of youths who have walked on
the path of 21st century with dreams.”
But other BJP leaders like Rajnath
Singh, Amit Shah, Sushma Swaraj,
Suresh Prabhu and Ram Vilas Paswan
credited Modi for the electoral triumph.
The Hindustan Times called the
landslide victory “NaMoment”. The
daily listed three ways the saffron
party achieved this feat – it said the
BJP consolidated its strongholds, was
flexible when it came to allying with
regional parties, and cashed in on
anti-incumbency sentiments in states
like West Bengal and Odisha. The front
page of the daily also included
reactions from top Opposition leaders
like Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee
and Mayawati.
“Chowkidar’s Chamatkar” read the
headline on the front page of The Times
of India. The daily said nationalism,
Hindutva and welfare powered the BJP
to this resounding victory. The “Modi
factor” and the surgical strikes did
wonders for the saffron party, according
to the newspaper. The daily also said
the Congress’ slogan “chowkidar chor
hai” backfired and that the comments of
Sam Pitroda and Mani Shankar Aiyar
were ill-timed. The daily highlighted
how Smriti Irani seized Congress
bastion Amethi from Rahul Gandhi.
Maharashtra Times had a cartoon of
Modi making the victory sign with the
headline “Namotsav!”. It reported that
despite Rahul Gandhi’s “chowkidar chor
hai” slogan, Mamata Banerjee’s jibes
and two dozen Opposition politicians
coming together, voters rejected them
all once again. “As the entire country
is swept up in admiration for the BJP,
everyone is celebrating the festival of
NaMo,” it said.
The Telegraph kept it simple. The
front page of the daily had just three
words: “He is back”. The newspaper
called the victory “thunder of
majority”. “The gigantic Modi wave 2.0
rendered individual BJP candidates
redundant just as it papered over
economic distress, social division and
quotidian concerns that normally
haunt incumbent government,” it said.
“Invincible Modi,” read the headline
on NavBharat Times. It said the slogan
“Modi hai to mumkin hai” has been
proved true after the results. The
newspaper said Modi is the one and only
reason for the victory. “Modi’s name
created such faith in voters that no wall
of religion and caste could stand in front
of him and there was no meaning of any
opposition alliance,” it reported.
The Mid-Day newspaper played on the
Game of Thrones analogy and said that
Amit Shah delivered the Iron Throne to
PM Modi.
The page is quite impressive with PM
Modi sitting on the Iron Throne, with
Amit Shah standing by his side. The
paper highlights that unlike the Game
of Thrones series finale, India loved the
finale of its own version of the Thrones.
The paper talks about the defeat of
the Grand Alliance in the North and
Mamata Banerjee's defeat in the East.
Assamese daily Amabo Assam led
with the headline, “Modi back with
decisive mandate”. It said the public
has put its faith in Modi yet again.
“Although the opposition and a section
of the media said the Modi wave of 2014
was a thing of the past, it is evident that
this time it was a tsunami,” the daily
reported.

Nepal says overcrowding on Mount
Everest "not sole reason" behind deaths
Nepal Tourism Department's Director General Dandu Raj Ghimire said as periods of fine weather
had been short, the number of people on the routes to Mout Everest had been "higher than expected".
Haynes Fisher, 44, died on Saturday
minutes after reaching the summit.
Ameesha Chauhan, a survivor of
the Everest "traffic jam" who is in
hospital recovering from frostbite, said
climbers without basic skills should
be barred to prevent a recurrence of
this year's deadly season on the world's
highest peak.
tourism by developing
KATHMANDU: Nepal has denied
accusations that the rise in the number
of deaths of Mount Everest climbers is
solely due to "overcrowding", adding
adverse weather conditions also
resulted in the deaths.
Nepal Tourism Department's Director
General Dandu Raj Ghimire said 381
people had climbed the Mount Everest
this spring, but as periods of fine
weather had been short, the number of
people on the routes had been "higher
than expected".
So far, 10 climbers have been reported
dead or missing this season. But Mr
Ghimire put the current death toll at
Four Indians including Kalpana Das,
Nihal Bagwan and Anjali Kulkarni are
among the dead.
Their deaths have been attributed
primarily to a long queue of both
ascending and descending climbers at
the Mount Everest, forcing many to wait
for hours at 8,000 metres plus altitudes.
One Nepalese, an Austrian and an
American are also among dead or
missing, reports say. Photos of long
queues near the summit have been
widely shared as record numbers
ascended the mountain in May.
others were held up for hours.
Uttarakhand has spotted five
ecotourism circles and three ecotourism
destinations, which will be developed
by the state forest department in a bid to
promote tourism in this region.
As per the department, this
development is likely to be a game
changer in conserving the environment
and forest of this region. The spots
identified for the said purpose have
been typically clubbed as one identity,
categorised on the basis of their
proximity to each other and similarities
in biodiversity.
As per the latest reports, the spots
identified for eco-tourism circles
include Yamuna Tons Valley, Tankapur-
Champawat-Devidhura (Pithoragarh)-
Nainital, Dehradun-Rishikesh-Tehri,
and Ramnagar-Almora-Nainital. And
the three ecotourism destinations
that will be developed are Ramnagar,
Ranikhet, and Dhanaulti.
However, officials said that
school children, researchers, and
environmentalists will be given top
priority to visit these eco-tourism circles.
Regarding this, Forest Minister Harak
Singh Rawat said that each destination
and circle will be administered as per
its ‘carrying capacity’, which means the
number of tourists entering these spots
will be limited. The minister also stated
that carrying capacity will remain in
focus to maintain quality tourism along
with responsible tourists.
The package includes sightseeing
with entrance charges.
In Pattaya, the tour will cover
destinations such as Alcazar Show
and Coral Island Tour on a speed boat.
IRCTC's package also offers breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
IRCTC Tourism is also offering a tour
package of six nights and seven days
to Leh, Nubra Valley and Pangong at
tariffs from Rs. 40,790 per person.
Also, as per the policy, locals living near
the forests might also likely be roped in.
They will be trained to guide visitors in
bird watching, spotting plants etc.
Additional Secretary of Forest
Department Dheeraj Pandey added that
the objective of the policy is sustainable
tourism, giving back to nature and
allowing local communities to benefit.
There are also plans to develop the old
trek routes to give tourists an essence of
life inside forests.

Sing Now' - Former
Zimbabwe Pacer
Henry Olonga
Auditions For The
Voice Australia
Former Zimbabwe paceman Henry
Olonga, who retired prematurely
from international cricket because of
political reasons, auditioned for The
Voice Australia - a singing competition
- on Monday (May 27).
Olonga performed on a song 'This is
the Moment' and has even made it to the
next round after impressing the judges.
"Music is special to me, because I sung
as a soloist in the choir every term of my
comprising more than 34 per cent of
overall listeners, are discovering artistes
from the West as much as K-pop artistes.
The first among the three trends are
collaborative tracks that have caught the
fancy of listeners. These includes Normani
collaborating with Khalid for Love Lies,
and Scottish rock band CHVRCHES and
Marshmello’s Here With Me.
K-pop is a surprise entry as it emerged
as the second biggest trend, with
South Korean pop artists making up
25 per cent of the playlist. Tomorrow
X Together, girl bands (TWICE) and
independent artists (SUNMI) were the
leading artists from the K-pop genre.
There is more element of surprise as
the young listeners are also discovering
artistes creating sleep/meditation songs
Artistes such as Haley Reinhart, and
Kurt Hugo Schneider, Sam Tsui and
DSharp, who did cover versions of
popular tracks also made it to the list
with Can't Help Falling in Love and
Girls Like You, respectively.
part of my education," he said.
"I've been singing a lot of music since
I retired from my previous career,' he
said. 'I just wanna sing now. Just sing."
Olonga played 30 Tests and 50 ODIs
for Zimbabwe, picking up 126 wickets
across both the formats. He was the
first black cricketer to represent
Zimbabwe at the international level.
Why listen to Tamil
music if you visit India
For most people, it is impossible to live
one day without listening to music.
It can help us with various things,
from improving our mood to helping
us through difficult times. In other
words, music has been around when
no one else was. Today, there are
various musical genres that exist and
you would be amazed by how much
they are different from one another.
However, there is a type of music that
is all about positive energy, love, and
inspiration lyrics and that music genre
in Tamil music. Tamil has an uplifting
nature that is basically created to
improve someone’s mood and it is said
that this genre will easily improve
your mood and lift your spirits.
If you are planning on visiting India,
you should keep in mind that India
is known as a country where people
are constantly trying to be happy and
cheerful, so their music is not that
different at all. What makes this genre
quite interesting is that most of the
songs that you can find on the Internet
are songs that are used in a wide range
of Indian movies. Bollywood is famous
for making a lot of movies every year
and with the advancements in their
movie industry, the music industry
is blooming as well. They work
exceptionally well together since all
movies require a soundtrack, hence,
the two things fit perfectly together,
especially in Bollywood.
According to Isaimini, there are
various websites that will offer you the
chance to listen to the best Tamil songs
ever recorded. Hence, do not waste any
more time and start searching for some
music.
Here are four reasons why you should
listen to Tamil music when in India:
1. It has depth
In order to really figure out the
meaning of the songs, you will need
patience, space for appreciation, and,
of course, a translation of the lyrics.
If you have all that you will be able to
experience the beauty of Tamil music
which will most certainly touch your
soul with its inspiration lyrics and
lively music.
2. It will excite your sense
Contrary to classical music, Tamil
music excites your sense. You will be
able to feel excited and you might even
get an adrenaline rush since all the
compositions are lively. Its energetic
and wonderfully written compositions
are things that will make you restless
and you will most certainly want to
want to join people on the dance floor.
3. It will help you experience
the culture
India is a country that has a wide
range of traditions and it is easy to
say that all of them are quite different
from what you might celebrate at
home. Music is a big part of the daily
life of Indian people and if there is
a celebration nearby, you will most
certainly be able to hear music around
that place. It is interesting to see how
people enjoy music in India, hence,
you might be able to experience their
culture better if you get to know their
music better.
4. It is good for your health
As we all know, music is therapeutic
and it can help you on an emotional
and psychical level as well. There
are various songs that you can play
that will make you feel happier, less
anxious, and some songs might even
help you gain a new look on life. The
beauty of Tamil music is that its lyrics
are always inspirational and the songs
can help you move on from a problem,
hence you might be able to have a
brighter look at the future.
Conclusion: Tamil music can help you
relax after a long day of walking or
it might simply put you in a dancing
mode, however, whatever you gain
from listening to this music, one thing
is for sure, if you listen to Tamil music
while in India, you will be able to
experience the culture better, as well
as have a lot of fun.

Salman Khan REACTS to Bharat co-star
Disha Patani’s age difference comment
Salman Khan and Disha Patani will be
soon seen together in Bharat. The actor
will be sporting five different looks for
Sunny Leone turns
producer; launches
Suncity Media And
Entertainment
After Anushka Sharma and Priyanka
Chopra, it’s the turn of Sunny Leone
to turn producer. The actress along
with her hubby Daniel Weber, has
ventured into production with Suncity
Media And Entertainment. The newlylaunched
production house shot for a
television commercial featuring Sunny
Leone, for an app-based company.
Sunny Leone was initially approached
to just be the face of the brand. The
actress agreed to do so and she also
offered to produce the commercial.
Sunny Leone revealed that getting
into production was something that she
and Daniel Weber were considering
since quite sometime. Hence, she felt
that producing the ad was the perfect
opportunity to launch her production
house. She enjoyed shooting for the ad
and admitted that she brainstormed with
director Sunny Rajani before shooting it.
Sunny Leone will juggle her acting
and studio commitments and it will
be Daniel Weber who will oversee the
day-to-day affairs of Suncity Media And
Entertainment.
different eras whereas Disha will be
seen in the early era in which she plays
the role of a trapeze artist. Disha and
Siddhivinayak Temple;
Last night television and film producer
Ekta Kapoor along with Smriti Irani
travelled to the Siddhi Vinayak Temple
situated in Mumbai on foot. The
M S Bitta, former All
India Anti-Terrorist
Front chairman and
politician
With biopics garnering immense interest
from filmmakers across Bollywood, there
has been an announcement on another
biopic. This one yet again celebrates the
valor, courage and strength of a man
who not only was the chairman of the
All India Anti-Terrorist Front but also
Salman also have a song together in the
film called ‘Slow Motion’.
Recently, Disha Patani said that
she might not get to work with
Salman Khan again owing to their
age difference. She said that his
character in his 20s and 30s in one of
the eras, so it was an immediate yes
for her. She said that he was wonderful
and hardworking human being and
working with him, she got to learn a lot.
When Salman Khan was asked about
Disha’s age difference statement, he
seems to have no qualms working with a
younger actress. He asked why and what
age difference. He said that he is doing
a film with a 17-year-old now. It seems
like Salman Khan was referring to his
Inshallah co-star Alia Bhatt who might
be playing his love interest in Sanjay
Leela Bhansali directorial. Reportedly,
their age difference will be addressed in
the film as Alia herself is 28 years junior.
Meanwhile, Bharat, directed by Ali
Abbas Zafar, is set for Eid 2019 release.
latter, who recently emerged as a Lok
Sabha seat winner from Amethi, chose
to be barefoot throughout her holy
expedition. Ekta's four-month-old son
Ravie was also a part of the pilgrimage.
Taking to social media, the Mental
Hai Kya producer announced, "So we're
walking to Siddhi Vinayak and she's
walking without shoes. Oh man, I can't
believe 14 kms without shoes, Smriti.
That's how God willed it, let's go."
Incidentally, Smriti Irani had shot
to fame in the early 2000s after her
portrayal of the lead character Tulsi
Virani in Ekta Kapoor's production
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
under her Balaji Telefilms banner.
Their friendship purportedly dates
back to then and has come all this way
to Smriti becoming Ekta's son's maasi
(maternal aunt).
Ekta also shared a photograph of the
two in which they can be seen flaunting
their facial glow after walking all the
way down. In an emoji-studded caption,
the Balaji Motion Pictures head honcho
said, "14 kms to SIDDHI VINAYAK ke
baaad ka glow." To this Smriti Irani
replied in a comment, "God willed it,
God is kind" alongside a heart and
gratitude emoji.
a renowned politician. We are talking
about M S Bitta aka Maninderjeet Singh
of Indian Youth Congress by P.V.
presented on the celluloid by Shailendra
TOPS the celebrity
Ranveer Singh –
Deepika Padukone next
in line OVERTHROW
Shah Rukh Khan,
Salman Khan
Akshay Kumar has proved time and
again that he is the most consistent
and saleable actor at the box office.
Long gone is the monopoly of the three
mighty Khans with Akshay and new
age actors like Ranveer Singh, Varun
Dhawan, Deepika Padukone and Alia
Bhatt here to give all the A-Listers
a run for the their money. Latest
survey shows that Akshay has bagged
endorsements worth Rs 100 crore in
the advertisement space which is more
than all the Khans made.
Also, what is interesting to note is
that lot of brands are open to investing
in young actors like Ranveer, Varun,
Vicky Kaushal and not to mention Alia
Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. After
Akki, brand DeepVeer has proven
to be most profitable. Ranveer and
Deepika’s individual equity is Rs 84
crores and Rs 75 crores respectively.
Shah Rukh is at Rs 56 crores while
Salman has endorsements worth Rs
40 crores. Alia Bhatt has equity worth
Rs 68 crores which is more than the
Khans. Amitabh Bachchan is worth Rs
72 crore, Varun Dhawan has ads worth
Rs 48 in his kitty. Kareena Kapoor
Khan at Rs 32 crore and Katrina Kaif
at Rs 30 crore are amongst the Top 10
celebs in the list.
Brand endorsements of a celebrity is
a clear indicator of their commercial
success in the industry and therefore
it is not surprising that the list of the
names has Akshay, Deepika, Ranveer,
Alia in the top bracket. It is touted
that more new age actors will set new
trends in the year 2019.
In a recent announcement, it has
been revealed that Shailendra Singh
and Priya Gupta will be jointly
producing the biopic on M S Bitta
in the film titled Zinda Shaheed.
In a recent post that was shared on
social media by Taran Adarsh, it was
confirmed that the two of them have
acquired the rights of the story of
M S Bitta for their next. In the same
statement, it was also revealed that the
film is in its initial stages and hence
the logistic details and others are yet to
be finalized. An announcement on the
director and the cast is expected to be
made soon.
On the other hand, it is being
said that the makers are keen on
commencing the shoot of Zinda
Shaheed in the first half of 2020.

Sawant proves
his mettle...
but has task
cut out
... Continued from Pg. 1
Employment
The biggest challenge today for
the new CM is employment. As per
records, there are over 1.2 lakh youth
unemployed in Goa and the mining ban
has only added to the number.
The effect of unemployment is brain
drain. Large number of youth are going
elsewhere and even some are giving up
nationality due to the crisis.
However the CM says he is seized of
the matter and in coming days tough
measured would be taken.
“Even though youth in this state are
facing large scale unemployment, in
the next three years, this government
will be a human development-oriented
government. Human development
is our priority. This is going to be a
youth-centric government,” Sawant
said.
He stated further that late Manohar
Parrikar had assured creation of 50,000
jobs in Goa.
“We will fulfill this dream in the
coming three years, we are committed
to creating these jobs through various
projects,” Sawant stated pointing
to projects like Mopa International
airport.
Government contracts
While employment is an issues
activists and youth are of the opinion
that the State government contracts
like PWD/ WRD/ GSIDC or any other
department has to be given to only
Goans as this would also solve issue of
unemployment to some extent.
Activists say 90 per cent of contracts
are awarded to non-Goans who are
very influential.
The BJP Youth wing says they have
taken up the matter with the chief
minister and he has assured to look
into it.
“We have taken up the issue with
him and we are sure he will keep
the promise,” said Gajanan Tilve,
Secretary BJP Yuva Morcha.
Sarah Todd’s Antares in
Goa is back in action
An old favourite is coming back to
Vagator’s shoreline. After a massive
fire in January, Antares is now
readying itself for a reopening. Goa’s
gourmands went into a state of shock
in January when the al fresco beach
restaurant on the Vagator cliffside
burned to the ground. Helmed by
MasterChef Australia season six
finalist Sarah Todd, Antares caught
fire due to burning scrap from the
neighbouring compound flying onto
the thatched roof of the establishment.
“India has offered me so many
beautiful opportunities since I’ve
moved here, but Antares is literally my
lifeline here. So, I had lost my sense of
direction for a while,” Todd told CNT.
Just a few months later though, Todd
has bounced back and is putting the
finishing touches on the new avatar
of the restaurant. While Antares’
original bamboo and jute decor stayed
true to Goa’s beach shack vibe, its new
look will be reminiscent of an Ozzie
beach cottage with white and green
interiors. The coconut frond roof has
been swapped out for a permanent
roof structure and the kitchen has
been expanded. “I’ve had the privilege
of vacationing in 21 states in the
country since I’ve lived in Goa, so I’m
focussing on pairing traditional Indian
marinades with Aussie barbecues and
grills, another summer pastime that is
huge down under. Sarah’s signature
menu this summer will include dishes
such as stuffed pointed gourd with
tomato cashew sauce and poi; steamed
sea bass in xacuti gravy; Murray’s
murra and mango relish with naan;
Goan sausage spaghetti with calamari
and more. Die-hard Antares fans need
not fret as the menu will retain some
of the kitchen’s classics such as the
surf and turf, beef fillet, tiger prawn,
seasonal vegetables, red wine jus
and Sarah’s Famous MasterChef iced
nougat with candied orange, streusel.
A week ago, guests were invited to
Antares’ construction party and offered
neon-yellow helmets and paint rollers
to help whitewash the bare shell walls.
And on 19 May, Antares will be open to
hungry patrons to feast on Sarah’s take
on recipes from down under, featuring
inspirations from the sunshine state.
THE PLACE
MORJIM
Sushi Pizzeria Coffeteria
Did you know? according to etiquette you shouldn’t send a piece of pickled ginger in the mouth along with
sushi or rolls. Ginger has strong taste and aroma and will not allow you to fully enjoy the treat. It is meant
to “clean” the taste between two pieces of sushi. Sushi is considered to be an aphrodisiac, because the
two most common types of fish that are used, salmon and mackerel, are known for their high content of
omega-3 fatty acids, which help to produce the stimulating hormones.
Do you want to know more interesting facts? Ok. 5 curious facts about head chef and owner Dmitry: 1st
about him - the famous brand Smirnoff was born in his family 120 years ago.
understanding of music history. The
cognitive experience lets the visitor
touch, hear and understand each
instrument and the backstory of it.
The museum is developed by Carnatic
vocalist Mansi Prasad and musicologist
Pappu Venugopal and is divided into
eight parts. From showcasing the
instruments-rare and popular to a cozy
café area to an amphitheatre-like area
where events can be hosted, the IME is
an experience to must have.
The idea is do more than just know
about the instrument. One can play and
discover various sounds. The exhibition
area is open to be seen with various
music-related artefacts on display.
Speaking about the spectacular
museum, IME Outreach Director
Suma Sudhindra says, "The Museum
of Pop Culture was initially known as
Experiential Music Project on which
Indian Music Experience is based
on. Brigade Group CMD Jaishankar
visited the Experiential Music Project
and thought that something like this
should be done for Indian music too.
This is when the idea began and soon it
took shape.
“We wanted a museum of
International standard for Indian
music. When we say Indian music
it entails everything from folk to
classical to pop to Bollywood music.
While the soft launch of IME is done,
we are planning for a grand launch in
the month of July," adds Sudhindra.
Sharing about the response received,
Suma Sudhindra said, "Museums are for
everyone and the response till now has
been great. It is a very technology oriented
museums as we have iPads, specific
interactives, and every graphic has a story
to tell, which can be seen on iPads. We are
lucky to get some really old videos and
audios to be experienced at the museum.
Music is all about the experience therefore
we are focusing to give a rich musical
experience to the visitors."
The museum is open on six days a week
and remains closed on every Monday.
Keeping in mind the increase in footfall
during public holidays, the museum
stays open on every public holiday too.
The museum charges a nominal fee
starting at Rs 150 and is open from 10
am to 6 pm. A must visit the museum for
those who nurture a passion for music.
While the concept of the experiential
museum is new, museums related to
music are not new to the map of India.
The state of Karnataka itself hosts two
other museums-one in Mysore named
as Melody World Wax museum and
second Karnataka Folk Museum in
Bengaluru itself.
The 18 years old
iPod is selling
for a whopping
Rs 14 lakh
How much will you be willing to pay for
an 18-year-old “MP3 player”? Chances
are if someone gave it to you for free
you will scoff at the offer and not waste
a single thought on it. However, what if
the 18-year-old MP3 player was a very
rare first-generation iPod. Not just that
it was factory sealed in its unopened
original box and also had the unopened
original shrink wrap. Well, if you want
this rare iPod then you will have shell
out a whopping Rs 14 lakh or $20,000.
According to a report by
MacRumours, such an iPod has been
listed on e-commerce shopping site
eBay. This original iPod was launched
in October 2001 and Steve Jobs had said
that it’s like carrying “1,000 songs in
your pocket.” The $20,000 iPod has a
5GB hard drive, a two-inch LCD screen
and a scroll wheel. It reportedly offers
10 hours of battery life. Barring the eyepopping
price, two other things actually
stand out of this iPod.
Firstly, even 18 years back — back
in 2001 — the iPod was miles ahead of
what it was offering when compared
to the competition. Secondly, perhaps
it’s an Apple product only that could
command a premium like this and more
importantly there might more than a
few die-hard Apple fanatics or collectors
who could actually spend a fortune on
this. Just for the record when this iPod
was launched it was priced at $399.
Apple and Nike
brace for China’s
wrath after Huawei
ban
Hong Kong: US companies counting on
China for a major part of their growth
have targets on their backs as Beijing
and Washington ratchet up trade-war
tensions.
President Donald Trump’s decision
to blacklist Huawei Tech, the Chinese
maker of smartphones, while also
threatening bans on other Chinese
technology companies, could open the
door to retaliation against US brands
like Apple and Nike. State media last
week said China is “well armed to
deliver counterpunches,” without
giving specific details. The most
obvious target is Huawei’s smartphone
rival Apple, which gets about a
fifth of its revenue from China and
manufactures its iPhones there.
Blowback from Trump’s Huawei ban
could cost Apple about 3% to 5% of its
iPhone sales in China over the next 12
to 18 months, according to Dan Ives, an
analyst at Wedbush Securities.
China is an increasingly important
market for Nike, which sponsors
the Shanghai Marathon and the top
Chinese soccer league.
Headphones made out of
MICROBES: A joke or the
key to Green Living?
When we write about headphones, we
usually mention something more or
less conventional, for example, Apple’s
AirPods or its competitor developed by
Amazon.
However, this time we will speak about
very unusual concept of headphones
that aimed at reducing the usage of
plastic all over the world and save our
environment from its harmful effects.
The Finnish company Aivan has
presented its headphones that are made
396 million tweets made
on LS polls, 3.2 million
on counting day
Twitter India on Thursday announced
it had recorded over 396 million tweets
about the 2019 Lok Sabha elections
from January 1 to May 23, reportedly
a nearly 600% rise compared to
2014 elections. It also recorded 3.2
million tweets on counting day alone.
PM Narendra Modi was the most
mentioned leader during the election
period, followed by Rahul Gandhi.
of natural, microbially grown materials
only, using synthetic biology.
“A headset was originally chosen
as the first physical implementation
to showcase these microbially grown
materials in a three-dimensional form,
because of the variety of materials
in the product itself. From a design
viewpoint, a headset combines various
material properties in compact size and
form; hard, foam-like, pliable, rigid and
solid materials, as well as mesh fabric
US President
Donald Trump says
he uses Twitter as
'typewriter'
San Francisco: US President Donald
Trump has said that Twitter, where his
posts often circulate as memes, is nothing
more than just a "typewriter" to him.
Trump spoke about his "Twitter Theory"
during an interview with Fox News
Channel, CNN reported on Monday.
"Twitter is really a typewriter for me.
It's really not Twitter -- it's -- Twitter
goes on television, or if they have
breaking news, I'll tweet, I'll say 'Watch
this -- boom.' That's not to build Twitter.
"That's to say that as soon as it goes
out, it goes on television, it goes on
materials,” is mentioned in the press
release.
The name of the headset Korvaa
translates from Finnish as “to
substitute”, meaning that if these
experimental headphones have the
same functions as the traditional ones,
they will be able to replace them as a
“green” alternative.
Facebook, it goes all over the place
and it's instant -- it really is, to me
it's a modern way to communicate,"
the report quoted the US President as
saying. From his statement it stands
clear that Trump tweets using his
personal account to make sure that
things are noticed distinctly.
Irrespective of his 60.4 million
followers, Trump has been regularly
pulled out for posting controversial
statements and war threats with Iran
and North Korea on his page.
