Congratulations on becoming a doTERRA Wholesale customer and welcome to<br />

<strong>the</strong> doTERRA lifestyle. I'm super excited that you have chosen to start on this path<br />

of self-directed health care. I am looking forward to journeying <strong>with</strong> you and<br />

teaching you all about how you can use doTERRA essential oils to support your<br />

emotional and physical wellness<br />

To help you get <strong>started</strong>, I've designed this booklet that gives you a run down of<br />

each of <strong>the</strong> oils contained in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Family</strong> Essentials Kit and how you can use <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

By reading this booklet, my hope is that by <strong>the</strong> time your Kit arrives in <strong>the</strong> mail,<br />

you'll be ready to dive in and start using your oils straight away. I hope it reduces<br />

any feelings of overwhelm in regards to using your essential oils. I understand that<br />

it can seem like a lot of information to take in when you're first starting out<br />

So have a good read through it, and of course, if you have any questions feel free<br />

to reach out anytime. I want you to feel confident in establishing daily habits and<br />

getting <strong>the</strong> most use from your essential oils<br />

to use oils<br />

One of <strong>the</strong> first things you’ll want to familiarise yourself <strong>with</strong> is <strong>the</strong> ways that<br />

How<br />

each of <strong>the</strong> essential oils can be used. Keep in mind that each oil has specific<br />

uses – all of <strong>the</strong> oils can be used aromatically and topically; but <strong>the</strong>re are a<br />

select few that can be also be used internally.<br />

Let’s breakdown each use one-at-a-time :<br />

The benefits of essential oils can be felt aromatically in three ways; ei<strong>the</strong>r by<br />

smelling directly from <strong>the</strong> bottle, putting a few drops into <strong>the</strong> palms of your<br />

hands and rubbing toge<strong>the</strong>r and inhaling, or by combining one or a<br />

combination of oils into an ultra-sonic diffuser. Diffusing doTERRA oils is <strong>the</strong><br />

quickest way to receive <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>rapeutic benefits of an oil as it stimulates our<br />

olfactory system which is <strong>the</strong> part of <strong>the</strong> brain connected to smell<br />

Topical use means applying to <strong>the</strong> skin. When you are first starting out using<br />

doTERRA essential oils, it’s always recommended to patch test oils on your skin<br />

first. If you do you have sensitive skin, using a cotton tip is a good way to test<br />

out <strong>the</strong> oil on your skin. It is recommended to always use a carrier oil as this<br />

will help to create a barrier and minimise skin sensitivity. It should especially<br />

always be used if using oils on <strong>the</strong> elderly, on toddlers and young babies<br />

Not all doTERRA essential oils are deemed safe for internal use. It is important<br />

to read <strong>the</strong> label before ingesting any doTERRA essential oils. There are many<br />

benefits to taking doTERRA essential oils internally, however doing so is<br />

completely a personal choice only if you feel comfortable doing so. To receive<br />

<strong>the</strong> internal benefits of an oil you can add drops into water, add drops into<br />

Veggie capsules, put drops on your thumb and press onto <strong>the</strong> roof of your<br />

mouth or place drops directly under your tongue


Tree Essential Oil<br />

Tea Tree is sourced right here in Australia and is a great<br />

Tea<br />

oil known for its antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.<br />

Tea Tree can be used aromatically, topically and<br />

internally<br />

Ways to use Tea Tree:<br />

1. Help soo<strong>the</strong> your skin by adding one drop to your facial moisturiser<br />

2. Apply after shaving to help prevent skin irritation<br />

3. Apply directly onto skin blemishes to help <strong>the</strong>m vanish<br />

4. Use a few drops of Tea Tree when making your own DIY baby wipes<br />

5. Use a couple of drops of Tea Tree to remove permanent from skin<br />

6. Use Tea Tree in a foot bath to clear up any feet issues<br />

7. Massage onto bottoms of feet and chest to promote overall health<br />

8. Combine 10 drops of Tea Tree, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup<br />

vinegar and use as a natural toilet cleaner<br />

9. Combine Tea Tree <strong>with</strong> distilled water in a spray bottle and use as a<br />

natural mozzie repellant<br />

10. Add 8-10 drops to a glass spray bottle, top up <strong>with</strong> distilled water and<br />

use as a chemical-free <strong>kit</strong>chen bench spray


Essential Oil<br />

Lemon essential oil is one of <strong>the</strong> top-selling and most<br />

versatile oils to use. Sourced from Italy, Lemon oil can<br />

be used aromatically, topically & internally<br />

Ways to use Lemon<br />

1. Add 1-2 drops to warm water first thing in <strong>the</strong> morning<br />

to help kickstart digestion. Drink throughout <strong>the</strong> day to<br />

help naturally cleanse <strong>the</strong> body<br />

2. Add 4-5 drops to a glass spray bottle, top up <strong>with</strong> water and use as a<br />

non-toxic natural cleaner for <strong>kit</strong>chen bench tops<br />

3. Add 1-2 drops into cupcake batter to make lemon cupcakes or add 1 drop<br />

into your favourite icing mixture recipe to give it a fresh citrusy flavour<br />

4. To remove sticker residue or permanent marker from surfaces, add 1-2 drops<br />

directly onto area, leave to sit for 30 seconds <strong>the</strong>n wipe <strong>with</strong> cloth<br />

5. Mix 5-6 drops Lemon <strong>with</strong> water and vinegar in a spray bottle to cleanse and<br />

purify surfaces. Use to clean <strong>kit</strong>chen counters<br />

7. Combine 1-2 drops of Lemon oil and honey into a mug of warm water and<br />

drink to help soo<strong>the</strong> a sore throat<br />

8. Diffuse to cleanse and purify <strong>the</strong> air of odours and promote a positive mood<br />

9. Use 1-2 drops of Lemon to clean tarnished silver. Always spot check<br />

10. Add 2-3 drops to your dishwasher cycle to keep <strong>the</strong> dishwasher smelling<br />

fresh


is one of <strong>the</strong> most potent and powerful essential<br />

Oregano Essential Oil<br />

Oregano<br />

oils. It is a "hot" oil so a little care needs to be taken when<br />

using this oil. A little goes a long way; in most cases you'll<br />

only need one or two drops. Oregano should ALWAYS be<br />

diluted <strong>with</strong> a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil<br />

when applied to <strong>the</strong> skin. If taking internally, it's best to use<br />

a Veggie capsule so as to avoid contact <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> lips<br />

Ways to use Oregano:<br />

1. Use as a flavour enhancer for savoury dishes. Use sparingly!<br />

2. Combine 1 drop of Oregano and 1 drop of On Guard, Lemon & Tea Tree<br />

into Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to <strong>the</strong> bottom of your feet, chest<br />

and throat to support a healthy immune system<br />

3. Combine one drop <strong>with</strong> fractionated coconut oil and rub over feet and<br />

hands to warm up <strong>the</strong> body<br />

4. Apply 1-2 drops onto cotton tip and use as a natural wart remover<br />

5. Add to <strong>the</strong> diffuser <strong>with</strong> On Guard to help cleanse <strong>the</strong> air<br />

6. Use directly on toenails to treat fungal issues<br />

7. Add 1 drop to a veggie capsule at <strong>the</strong> first sign of a sore throat<br />

Essential Oil<br />

DigestZen is doTERRA's Digestive Blend. It is a great<br />

DigestZen<br />

oil to use when you're faced <strong>with</strong> any sort of digestive<br />

related issues. This oil blend is safe to use<br />

aromatically, topically and internally<br />

Ways to use DigestZen<br />

1. Rub on stomach in a clockwise motion to relieve stomach ache<br />

2. Apply to back of neck before travelling to help soo<strong>the</strong> motion sickness<br />

3. Take internally as a preventative for digestive upset/discomfort<br />

4. Apply to soles of feet and tummy after vomiting to calm <strong>the</strong> stomach<br />

5. Dilute <strong>with</strong> fractionated coconut oil and apply to stomach in a clockwise<br />

direction for relief from constipation<br />

6. Take a drop in water half an hour before meals to support digestion<br />

7. Dilute and apply to temples and bridge of nose to relieve head tension<br />

and sinus pressure<br />

8. Consume a drop daily to help <strong>with</strong> maintaining regular bowel movements<br />

9. Dilute in carrier oil and apply when feeling bloated from eating too much<br />

10. Add 1 drop to water to help maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract


Essential Oil<br />

Most people recognise Lavender as an oil that promotes<br />

Lavender<br />

calmness and relaxation. Lavender is also really beneficial<br />

for skin and nails. Sourced from Bulgaria, Lavender can be<br />

used aromatically, topically and internally<br />

Ways to use Lavender<br />

1. Add a few drops to Epsom Salts and disperse through bath water<br />

2. Apply to insect bites for instant relief from itching<br />

3. Use on minor burns to soo<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> skin and prevent blistering and scarring<br />

4. Place a couple of drops onto your pillow at night to promote a restful night sleep<br />

5. Apply to <strong>the</strong> temples and back of neck to lessen <strong>the</strong> effects of stress and anxiety<br />

6. Dilute in a carrier oil and apply to soles of feet to promote a sense of calm<br />

7. For babies who are teething, use long <strong>the</strong> jawline to give temporary relief<br />

8. Dilute in fractionated coconut oil and use to soo<strong>the</strong> any sort of skin irritation<br />

9. Diffuse in your bedroom at night to encourage a good night sleep<br />

Essential Oil<br />

Peppermint has a very powerful aroma. One DROP of<br />

Peppermint oil is <strong>the</strong> equivalent of drinking 28 cups of<br />

Peppermint tea. Sourced from Washington, USA Peppermint<br />

can be used aromatically, topically<br />

and internally<br />

Ways to use Peppermint<br />

1. Add 1-2 drops to water and use as a mouth gargle for fresh breath<br />

2. Add 1 drop to chocolate beverages & baked goods<br />

3. Use 1-2 drops on a wet face washer to help reduce high body temp<br />

4. Diffuse 2-3 drops in water to instantly waken <strong>the</strong> senses<br />

5. Add a few drops into a foot bath for a cooling sensation<br />

6. Put 1-2 drops into hands, inhale deeply to awaken <strong>the</strong> senses<br />

7. Rub on stomach or take internally to relieve digestive upset<br />

8. Dilute one drop in Fractionated Coconut oil and apply under nose<br />

9. Use as a natural repellant for ants<br />

10. Press 1 drop onto thumb <strong>the</strong>n onto roof of mouth to alleviate headaches


Guard Essential Oil<br />

On Guard is a very powerful proprietary blend of Wild<br />

On<br />

Orange, Cinnamon and Clove. It has amazing immune<br />

boosting properties and can be used aromatically,<br />

topically and internally<br />

Ways to use On Guard<br />

1. Diffuse in times when you've had people sneezing or coughing around you<br />

2. Drop 1-2 drops into water and use as a mouth gargle<br />

3. For a clean toothbrush, add 5 drops to water and soak overnight<br />

4. Add 10 drops to a mini spray bottle, top up <strong>with</strong> distilled water and witch hazel<br />

and use as a natural, non-toxic hand sanitiser<br />

5. Add to coconut oil when "oil-pulling"<br />

6. Add 2-3 drops to water <strong>the</strong>n soak sliced apples to boost immunity<br />

7. Add 2-3 drops to a Veggie capsule and swallow for immune support<br />

8. Diffuse in your home to help cleanse and purify <strong>the</strong> air<br />

9. Use as a natural cleaner by combining <strong>with</strong> water in a spray bottle<br />

10. Combine <strong>with</strong> Fractionated coconut oil and apply to bottom of feet to help<br />

support and boost your immune system


Blue Essential Oil<br />

Ice Blue is doTERRA's Athletic Blend. It is also marketed as<br />

Ice<br />

Deep Blue in <strong>the</strong> USA. This is <strong>the</strong> oil to use when you have<br />

tired, achy or stiff muscles. Ice Blue is predominately used<br />

topically diluted in a carrier oil, but can also be used<br />

aromatically.<br />

Ways to use Ice Blue<br />

1. Rub on muscles before and after exercise to reduce muscular aches<br />

2. Combine 1-2 drops into carrier oil or body lotion and apply to kids legs before<br />

bedtime to help <strong>with</strong> aches associated <strong>with</strong> growth spurts<br />

3. After long periods at <strong>the</strong> computer, dilute and use this blend on shoulders<br />

and neck to ease muscle tension<br />

Essential Oil<br />

Frankincense is known as <strong>the</strong> "King of Oils" and for good<br />

reason. Frankincense is one of <strong>the</strong> few oils that has <strong>the</strong><br />

ability to cross <strong>the</strong> blood-brain barrier. Sourced from<br />

Somalia, Frankincense can be used aromatically, topically<br />

and internally<br />

Ways to use Frankincense<br />

1. Add 1-2 drops under <strong>the</strong> tongue daily to help support <strong>the</strong> central<br />

nervous system and to help <strong>with</strong> anxious feelings<br />

2. Diffuse 3-5 drops Frankincense <strong>with</strong> 3-5 drops Wild Orange to change<br />

and uplift your mood<br />

3. Combine <strong>with</strong> Lavender in a diffuser to help calm anxious feelings and<br />

relieve tension. You could also apply topically to back of neck, wrists<br />

5. Take in a Veggie capsule to help support healthy cells in your body<br />

6. Add to your moisturiser to help promote youthful, radiant looking skin<br />

7. Apply to <strong>the</strong> soles of <strong>the</strong> feet and up and down <strong>the</strong> spine to calm <strong>the</strong><br />

nervous system<br />

8. Apply to scars and stretch marks to reduce <strong>the</strong>ir appearance<br />

9. Add a few drops of Frankincense to your hand and body lotion to<br />

la<strong>the</strong>r your body to nourish your skin<br />

to help improve your concentration.


Air Essential Oil<br />

Easy Air is doTERRA's Clear Blend and it does exactly<br />

that. It is also marketed as Brea<strong>the</strong> in <strong>the</strong> USA. This oil is<br />

a combination of Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Laurel<br />

Leaf and is very supportive to our respiratory system. This<br />

oil blend can be used aromatically and topically<br />

Ways to use Easy Air<br />

1. To aid congestion, add a few drops to Fractionated Coconut Oil and massage<br />

over chest to encourage clear breathing<br />

2. Diffuse prior to retiring at night for a restful night sleep<br />

3. Diffuse to help stimulate mental activity and boost brain power<br />

4. To help <strong>with</strong> concentration, place a couple of drops into your hands, rub<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>n brea<strong>the</strong> in deeply<br />

5. Before you start a workout, apply few drops to <strong>the</strong> back of your neck and<br />

chest to encourage clear breathing<br />

6. Add a few drops to a Nasal inhaler to receive relief from<br />
