eyes of 22nd Century Medis staff, the best players were selected from six high schools — Glenbrook North<br />
(GBN), Glenbrook South (GBS), Highland Park (<strong>HP</strong>), Lake Forest (LF), Loyola Academy (LA) and New Trier<br />
(NT) — in our coverage area.<br />

Outside hitter<br />
Jack Howard, LA senior<br />
• 406 kills, 130 digs; The<br />
Penn State signee ended his<br />
career with 1,154 kills, ranking<br />
14th all-time in IHSA history.<br />
The Chicago Catholic League<br />
All-Conference honoree helped<br />
Loyola to the sectional final.<br />
Outside hitter<br />
Jack Shampine, GBS senior<br />
• 374 kills, 134 digs; The<br />
Central Suburban League<br />
Player of the Year was the heart<br />
of the Titans, adding 40 aces<br />
and 40 total blocks.<br />

Peter Brown, NT junior<br />
• 305 kills, 130 digs; Brown,<br />
who will play for the University<br />
of Southern California in two<br />
seasons, earned an All-CSL<br />
honor and powered the<br />
Trevians to third place at state.<br />
Middle BlOcker<br />
Gavin Elliott, LA senior<br />
• 115 kills, 99 blocks; Elliott’s<br />
99 blocks were the most by a<br />
Rambler since 2009 and the<br />
second-highest total in the last<br />
15 years.<br />
Second Team<br />
Outside hitters<br />
Kevin Lamp, LF senior<br />
• 280 kills, 95 digs; Lamp missed<br />
10 games this season to play for<br />
the U.S. Junior National Team in<br />
Peru, then two more with an ankle<br />
injury in the playoffs, which hurt<br />
his season numbers. Regardless,<br />
the Stanford signee made the<br />
All-Conference team and was one<br />
of the top volleyball players in the<br />
state.<br />
Spencer Capps, LF senior<br />
• 271 kills, 264 digs; When Lamp<br />
was away, Capps stepped up<br />
to carry Lake Forest, adding 41<br />
aces and earning All-Conference<br />
honors. The senior was the Scouts’<br />
best player during their run to the<br />
regional final.<br />
Henry Clemons, LA senior<br />
• 271 kills, 139 digs; The All-<br />
Conference selection was a key<br />
contributor to a Ramblers team that<br />
reached the sectional final.<br />

Justin McCartney, LF senior<br />
• 978 assists, 68 digs; Coming<br />
just short of 1,000 helpers<br />
on the season, McCartney<br />
made the North Suburban<br />
Conference All-Conference<br />
team and even had 46 kills and<br />
30 aces for the Scouts.<br />

• 409 digs, 92 assists; Leading<br />
all local players in digs, Schatz<br />
earned All-Conference and All-<br />
Tournament recognition for the<br />

• 373 digs, 47 aces; The only<br />
sophomore to make either our First<br />
or Second team, Merk was named<br />
to the All-Conference team after<br />
helping Loyola reach the sectional<br />
final.
