Automatic Transmission Cleaning 

Why? 

How? 

Modern automatic transmission fluids should be replaced at least every 50-60,000 km according 

to the manufacturers’ specifications. Some manufacturers even do not instruct change intervals. 

This is a so-called lifetime filling. 

However, even in compliance with the oil change intervals, damages or defects can occur. In 

contrast to manual transmissions, automatic transmission wear out considerably faster. By 

increasing wear and soiling of clutch plates and solenoid valves, the function of the transmission 

deteriorates gradually without the motorist being aware of this. Only when the performance of the 

transmission is significantly impaired, the costly damage is perceived. 

To avoid that, a cleaning of the automatic transmission system is recommended by more and 

more manufacturers. This service prevents costly repairs, helps with loss of power and restores a 

smooth/quiet gear operation. 

With a conventional oil change, not all contaminants can be removed from automatic 

transmissions. Approx. 60% of the waste oil remain in the gearbox. About 90% of all installed 

automatic transmission are concerned by this, because only the part of waste oil is removed, which 

is located in the oil pan. All other components such as heat exchangers and pipes, but especially 

the converter cannot be emptied.

the gears are switching smooth and soft again.

Automatic Transmission Flush 

Reliably dissolves and removes contaminants, such as oxidised oil residues and 

other deposits from the entire transmission oil system. Smooth and powerful gear 

changing will be the result. For all cars with automatic transmission. 

Application: Add the product to the oil system before exchanging the transmission 

oil. Run the system for approx. 10-15 minutes under frequent load change. 

Afterwards carry out the exchange of the transmission oil according to the 

manufacturer’s instructions.

ATF 4 

ATF 4 is a high performance semi-synthetic automatic transmission fluid 

for life time application in automatic transmissions of modern vehicles. An 

extremely shear stable VI improver in connection with modern anti-wear 

additives and friction modifiers guarantee stable long lasting performance in 

modern automatic transmissions equipped with an electronically controlled 

converter clutch. 

ATF 4 is for use in servo steering systems, hydrodynamic converters and
