All over the Bay Area, events are happening from hip-hop, salsa, pole
dancing, and yoga, to ballroom, ballet, banghra, modern, and more.
Dancers’ Group presents Bay Area National Dance Week,
an annual celebration of dance in the Bay Area—one of
the largest, most active and thriving dance communities
in the country.
This year’s festival once again offers an enormous range
of free events—a perfect opportunity for dance-lovers of
all ages and experiences to take a grand tour of the many
movement styles at home in the Bay Area!
This project and Dancers’ Group are funded by: Delta Dental of California, Fleishhacker
Foundation, Grants for the Arts, James Irvine Foundation, J.B. Berland Foundation, Kenneth

To kick off this fabulous 10-day
festival come join One Dance at
noon in San Francisco’s Union
Square. One Dance is an allinclusive
flash mob of dancers and
non-dancers, schools, companies,
and artists, all dancing in unison
to the same piece of music.

DANCERS CHOICE AWARD
GOES TO: ANTOINE HUNTER
Antoine Hunter is an African American Deaf and
Hard of Hearing choreographer, dancer, dance
instructor, model, actor and poet. Hunter was born
deaf and was raised in Oakland, California. He
began dancing at Skyline High School and has
studied West African Dance with Master C.K. and
Betty Ladzekpo. Hunter founded the Urban Jazz
Dance Company in 2007.
4th Annual Dancers Choice Award This award celebrates
individuals and organizations that are resourcefully finding
effective and creative models that impact dance.
Dancers’ Group received 160 nominations from the
community and extend a special acknowledgement to all
of the deserving nominees. Ranging from dance masters
and professional dance programs to new and emerging
artists, all truly represent our spectacularly rich and
diverse dance community.
Thank you to all who submitted nominations this cycle.
Please come to the One Dance kick-off event on Friday,
April 22 at 12noon to celebrate Antoine.
