Time is Up

Don Tiller’s artistic career began early in his youth, when he would
spend hours drawing cartoon characters, animals, cars and rocket ships,
on anything that would hold a mark whether it be scrap paper, cardboard
or board ends. His artistic path would take him through college and into the
next decade, to then be put on hold as he ran two successful businesses and
helped raise a family. His passion to paint was able to be released again 25
years later when he decided to pursue a full time art career. Together with
his wife Jolene, also an artist and graphic designer, they implemented a
marketing plan that opened the door to gallery representation for Don’s art
that spread across the United States.
The Artist’s Magazine highlighted Don’s artistic achievements in the
“Artists over 60” segment of their March 2008 issue. They then selected his
painting “Suppertime”, along with an accompanying feature article, for the
cover of the July/August issue. His work has been featured in other national
publications including Western Art Collector and Watercolor Artist where
he was asked to write an article for their “Creativity Workshop” column
explaining how layering and glazing with fluid acrylics allows him to achieve
the dynamic color and depth in his paintings.
Don’s painting process begins with a sketchbook filled with ideas and
thumbnail sized drawings. His idea for connecting people and places
has inspired many multi-paneled series of paintings. Each series depicts
individual landscapes that flow visually from one panel into the next, forming
a mural of sorts. Everyone who purchases one of these paintings will be
connected to the others in a subliminal way--not unlike real life connections.
Don shares his layering and glazing techniques in workshops and private
classes. His award winning contemporary acrylic paintings are displayed in
both private and corporate collections nationally and internationally.
Cards printed in Port Townsend, Washington USA
on 60% recycled with 30% post-consumer content,
using premium white envelopes made from 10% recycled content.
