CHURCH SERVICES and NEWS from ST.EATA'S, ATCHAM There is a Service with Holy communion every Sunday at 11 a.m. The Harvest Thanksgiving Service will be Sunday 13th October at 11.15 a.m. This is the occasion when we give thanks to God through prayers and hymn singing for the fruits of the earth. Donations of flowers, produce or non-perishable goods gratefully received and can be left in Church which is always open during daylight hours. All proceeds to local charities. Annual Ride & Stride - Saturday 14th September. St.Eata's Church will be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to welcome cyclists and walkers and will provide refreshments. Proceeds to The Shropshire Historical Churches Trust who last year made grants to 18 churches in need of repair. Advance news - A Bridge afternoon in The Malthouse on Sunday 6th October. More details in the October Village Pump or contact Gill Withinshaw on 01952 740747. The Church Fete and Duck Race was held on Sunday 7th July. Blessed with good weather and a happy atmosphere it was lovely to see so many people enjoying all the stalls, teas and the music plus a chance to have a go at bell ringing. Thanks to the generosity of many, around £2,500 was raised to help with the upkeep of this beautiful historic building. Thanks to everyone who helped in any way. Several groups have visited the church during the summer months including The Archaeological Society, The Diocesan Advisory Committee[who came to look at the work done recently on the new kitchen and bell ringing gallery] and the Mothers' Union. The Deanery Synod also met at St.Eata's for their Meeting on June 6th when they were treated to Pimms and nibbles - they will be back!!! Baptisms recently we welcomed into the Church family - Jemima Steel, Ava Plimmer and John Neill Sad News - The Rev Preb. Mark Salmon died in July. Our deepest sympathy to his wife and family. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him. Spotted on a lovely slate plaque in a Shropshire Churchyard Respect God's Acre and the peace of those that lie therein. Suffer non to play nor dogs to stray. The place whereon thou standest is Holy Ground.
