Nurteks, İbrahim Nalbant tarafından 1972 yılında Sultanhamam’da kurulan yüzde 

yüz Türk sermayeli bir firmadır. Yaklaşık 40 yıldır, zemin halıları konusunda üretim yapan 

Nurteks; 1983 yılında sentetik çimi Türkiye’ye getirmiş ve o günden beri suni çim 

pazarının lideri olma unvanına sahip olmuştur. Günümüzde sentetik çim; golften futbola, 

çevre mimarisinden cephe giydirmeye kadar pek çok alanda kullanılıyorsa bunda 

en büyük pay kuşkusuz Nurteks’indir. 

Sektörün izleyicisi değil, belirleyicisi olan Nurteks, 2000 yılından itibaren duvardan 

duvara halı üretimine başlamıştır. Liderlik vasfının getirdiği sorumluluğun bilinciyle 

hayata geçirdiği yatırımlar sayesinde Nurteks, kısa zamanda Türkiye’nin duvardan duvara 

halı üretiminde öncü firmaları arasındaki yerini almıştır. 

Nurteks yönetim ve üretim kalitesi, Moody International tarafından onaylanmış ISO 

9001-2000 ve TSE belgelerine sahiptir. Nurteks, 2001 yılında UEFA’nın doğal çime alternatif 

kabul ettiği suni çim sistemlerinde, FIFA Recommended (FIFA Tavsiye) ve UEFA 

Test Sertifikası’na Türkiye’de ilk sahip olan firmadır. 2011 yılında Nurteks ESTO (European 

Syntetic Turf Organisation) Avrupa Sentetik Çim Organizasyonu’na asli üye oldu. 

Sanayi ve Ticaret Bakanlığı’nın izniyle verilen garanti belgesiyle Nurteks, müşterisine 

markasının güvencesini vermektedir. 

Uluslararası bir firma olan Nurteks, 50’nin üzerinde ülkeye ihracat yapmaktadır. Avrupa, 

Ortadoğu, Türki Cumhuriyetler ve Uzakdoğu pazarında özellikle bilinen Nurteks,

Nurteks, ileri ve gelişmeye odaklı çalışma anlayışı ile 2011 yılında çok önemli bir 

yatırıma giderek 60.000 m2 lik yeni üretim tesislerini Çerkezköy Organize Sanayi 

Bölgesinde yapılandırmıştır. 

Yeni tesis ile birlikte Chromojet Halı Baskı makinesi yatırımı da devreye alınmış ve Türkiye 

yeni ve ciddi bir baskı tesisine kavuşmuştur. 

Bu yatırım ile birlikte modern dünyanın ihtiyacı olan tüm baskılı halı ürünlerini, kontrat 

halı dahil olmak üzere üretebilen bir noktaya gelen Nurteks’in bugüne kadar takip 

etmiş olduğu çizgisi, bugünden sonrada her zamankinden daha büyük bir istek ve 

azimle halı sektöründe çalışmalarına devam edeceğinin kanıtı olacaktır.

Nurteks is a 100% Turkish capital firm founded by İbrahim Nalbant in Sultanhamam in 

1972. Producing floor carpets for about 40 years, Nurteks brought in Turkey the synthetic 

turf in 1983 and have been the pioneer in artificial turf market since then. The 

greatest share belongs to Nuteks without any doubt if the synthetic turf is today used 

in many fields from golf to football, from envronmental architecture to siding.

an alternative to the natural grass in 2001.

Industrial Zone by a considerable invesment in 2011 with its advance and 

progress driven understanding. 

By this new facility, Chromojet Carpet Print Machine Investment has been put into use 

and Turkey has attained a very new and considerable print facility.

carpet need of the modern world Commercial Carpet Inclusive will be the proof also 

after today to progress in carpet sector with a greater desire and determination more

Kontrat Halılarının Tanımı : 

Duvardan duvara halılar; desen, renk ve doku 

seçiminde neredeyse sınırsız olanaklar sunar. 

Bu esneklik ve üstün avantajları nedeniyle, 

proje (kontrat) uygulamalarının zemin kaplama 

malzemesi olarak özellikle duvardan duvara 

halı tercih edilir. Turistik tesisler, oteller, ofisler, 

restoranlar, maazalar, bankalar, hastaneler, 

ticari ve sosyal mekanların ihtiyaçları dikkate 

alınarak hazırlanan, özel konstrüksiyon ve 

desenlerle üretilen halılar “Kontrat Halıları” 

olarak isimlendirilir. Kontrat halısı seçimi 

yapılırken; kullanım amacına uygun, estetik, 

bakımı kolay bir ürünün tespit edilebilmesi en 

önemli ayrıntılardır. 

Kontrat halısı tercihinin temelinde “kalite” ve 

“maliyet” arasındaki iliki yatar. “Kaliteli bir 

ürüne ucuz fiyattan sahip olmak” tercih edilen 

bir eilimdir. Ancak seçim kriterlerini belirleyen 

kiinin düük maliyet seçenekleri karısında 

ihtiyatlı olması gerekir. Gerçek anlamda kaliteli 

bir ürünün, üstün özellik ve avantajları olacaı 

unutulmamalıdır. Zira; halının ilk gün 

görünüünü koruyabilmesi, dayanıklılıı, 

performansı ve düük bakım maliyeti 

yatırımınıza katma deer salar. 

Nurteks A.. tarafından üretilen kontrat halıları 

için hedef kitleler ve uygulama alanlarımız; 

oteller, turistik tesisler, resmi ya da özel 

sektöre ait binalar, i ve alıveri merkezleri, 

üst düzey ofisler, hastaneler, bankalar, 

üniversiteler, hava alanları, elence merkezleri, 

vb. yerlekelerdir. 

Kontrat Halılarının Avantajları : 

Yer döemesi seçimi yapılırken; estetik 

kaygılar ve ürünün performansı konularına 

objektif olarak yaklamak gerekir. Ürünün 

kullanılacaı yere uygun olarak seçilmi olması 

arttır. Bu kriterler dorultusunda, kontrat 

uygulamaları için en doru yer döemesinin 

kontrat halıları olduu ortaya çıkar. Kullanım 

amacına uygun olarak seçilmi, iyi kalitede 

bir kontrat halısının normal kullanım artları 

altında aınması mümkün deildir... 

Kontrat halıları; dier yer döemelerine kıyasla 

mükemmel bir avantaj kombinasyonu sunar. 

Halı; güzel ve sıcak görünümlüdür. Tercih 

edilen dekorasyon tarzını tamamlayıcı nitelikte 

desen, renk ve doku seçenekleri sunar, son 

derece ho bir hissel yakınlama salar. 

Yumuak, güvenli, salıklı, sıcak ve rahat bir 

atmosfer yaratır. Ortamın gürültü seviyesinde 

azalma ve ısı kaybına karı yalıtım salar.

Döeme Kolaylıı : Halı kolaylıkla döenir ve 

tüm zemin yüzeylerine uygulanabilir. Bu 

nedenle; özellikle otel ve toplu konut 

projelerinde zaman ve maliyet tasarrufu için en 

uygun seçenektir. Halının yere serilmesi ve 

döenmesi farklı uygulamalardır. 

Halıdan uzun süreli performans elde etmek için 

üretici firmaların talimatlarına uygun ve doru 

yöntemlerle döenmi olması gerekir. 

Duvardan duvara halıların döeme 

uygulamalarında en çok kullanılan iki yöntem; 

yapıtırma ve altlık üzerine yerletirmedir. 

Performans beklentisi ve döenecek alanın 

boyutlarına balı olarak bu yöntemlerden biri 

ya da ikisi birlikte uygulanabilir. Dorudan 

yapıtırma metodu; boyut stabilizasyonunun 

kritik olduu, youn ya da tekerlekli trafie 

maruz kalan geni alanlar için en iyi seçimdir. 

Altlık üzerine döeme; daha fazla yumuaklık 

(konfor) beklentisi olan ve ekstra gürültü 

azaltmanın arzu edildii durumlar için daha 

uygundur. 

Hangi yöntem tercih edilirse edilsin, 

döeme iinin mutlaka düzgün, kuru, temiz 

zemine ve uzman döeme personeli 

tarafından yapılması gerekir. 

Düük Bakım Maliyeti : Kontrat halılarının 

bakımı, dier zemin döemelerine göre çok 

daha kolay ve ucuzdur. 

yi kalitedeki kontrat halılar, bakım 

masraflarında %30ʼa varan tasarruf salar. 

Ses Emicilik : Kontrat halıları ayak sesi, eko 

ve uultuları elimine eder. Sessiz, sakin, 

huzurlu ve daha verimli bir ortam yaratır. 

Yapılan akustik testler, halının atmosferik 

gürültüleri 10 kat daha fazla absorbe ettiini 

(emdiini) ortaya koymutur. 

Isı Yalıtımı : Halı, ısı yalıtımı salamada en 

verimli malzemedir. Kontrat halısı kullanımı 

%5ʼe kadar enerji tasarrufu salayabilir. Halı 

döenmi mekanları ısıtmak ve ortam ısısını 

korumak çok daha kolaydır. 

Güvenlik : Sert zeminler (özellikle ıslak 

olduklarında) kaygan ve tehlikeli olabilirler. Bu 

nedenle halı, en güvenli zemin döemesidir. 

Kaza ihtimalini ve bu nedenle oluacak 

yaralanmaları azaltır. 

Salık : Amaca uygun olarak seçilmi, düzenli 

ve doru yöntemlerle bakım ve temizlii 

yapılmı kontrat halılar bakteri ve mikrop 

barındırmaz. Halı döenmi mekanlardaki 

atmosferik kirlilik (uçuan toz parçacıkları) sert 

zemin döemelerine kıyasla yarı yarıya daha 

azdır. 

Uluslararası endüstriyel aratırma enstitüleri 

tarafından yapılan testler, halılarının bakteri ve 

zararlı madde içermediini kanıtlamıtır. 

Ortopedik Rahatlık : Yumuak ve esnek halı 

yüzeyi minder etkisi yapar. Vücut aırlıını

dengeli bir ekilde daıttıı için sırt ve eklem 

arılarının önlenmesinde olumlu katkısı vardır. 

Kaliteli bir kontrat halısı; yüksek katma deer 

ve düük maliyet avantajlarını beraberinde 

getirir. Kontrat halılarının toplam kullanıcı 

maliyeti son derece düüktür. Toplam kullanıcı 

maliyeti; ürün maliyeti, döeme maliyeti, bakım 

maliyeti ve ürünün ömrünü kapsar. Endüstriyel 

aratırmalar, kontrat halısı döenmesindeki 

toplam kullanıcı maliyetinin, dier zemin 

döemelerine göre %25ʼe varan avantaj 

saladıını göstermitir. 

Kontrat halıları; yüksek performans ve 

kolay bakım avantajlarını sınırsız tasarım 

seçenekleriyle birletirir. Kontrat halısı bir 

tesise saygınlık ve prestij salar. 

Kontrat Halılarının Teknik Özellikleri : 

Günümüzde kontrat halıları, yüksek teknoloji 

ürünüdür. Elyaf teknolojisi ve halı üretim 

tekniklerindeki önemli ilerlemeler, halının tam 

anlamıyla kullanım amacına uygun olarak 

üretilmesine olanak salar. Kontrat halıları için 

en önemli pazarlar turistik tesisler ve otellerdir. 

Bir otelin halı ihtiyacını; “odalar”, “koridorlar” ve 

“genel mahaller” balıkları altında toplayabiliriz. 

Halıların tespitinde; “kullanım yeri ve amacı 

(dayanıklılık)”, “bakım olanakları”, “dekoratif ve 

estetik kaygılar” dengelenerek karar 

alınmalıdır. Seçim yapılırken halı döenecek 

alanların doası büyük önem taır. Halının 

performansı ve bakım ihtiyaçları analiz 

edilmeli, binaların deiik bölümlerinde farklı 

trafik seviyeleri olduu dikkate alınmalıdır. 

Projenin bütçesi de dikkate alınarak; odalar için 

800-1000 gr/m2, koridorlar için 1000-1200 

gr/m2, genel mahaller için 1200 - 1400 gr/m2 

kalitelerdeki halılar tercih edilebilir. Yatak 

odalarındaki halılar lüks olmalı ama genel 

kullanım alanları için tercih edilecek halılara 

oranla daha az kullanılacakları 

unutulmamalıdır. 

Koridorlarda; sürekli ve dorusal hareket 

vardır. Valizler, servis arabaları, vb. tekerlekli 

ekipmanlar bu alanları kullandıından, yatak 

odalarına göre daha yüksek dayanıklılık 

gerekir. Bar ve restoranlarda kir ve lekelere 

karı direnç en üst seviyede olmalıdır. htiyaç 

halinde; farklı özellik ve niteliklerdeki halılar 

aynı mekan içerisinde kullanılabilir. Tüm bu 

tercihler tesisin statüsü, ihtiyaçları ve projenin 

bütçesi göz önünde bulundurularak 

kesinletirilir. 

Youn trafik seviyesi altındaki mekanlar için 

mutlaka yüksek performanslı kontrat halısı 

tercih edilmelidir. Bu amaçla, kontrat ii yapan 

uzman satı noktalarından ya da üretici 

firmalardan destek istemek gerekir.

Piyasada satıa sunulan her halının, kontrat 

halısı (youn trafik kullanımına uygun) 

olmadıı unutulmamalıdır. Bir halının kontrat 

halısı olarak deerlendirilebilmesi için; bazı 

teknik özelliklere sahip olması zorunludur. Bu 

teknik özellikler kontrat halılarının ayrılmaz 

parçalarıdır. 

Dayanıklılık (Trafik Seviyesi) : Kontrat halısı 

seçimi (planlama) sürecindeki ilk aama, 

mevcut ve beklenen trafik younluunun 

analizidir. Lokasyon yeniden dekore ediliyorsa, 

eski halılardaki eskime ve yıpranma oranları 

çok iyi bir kılavuzdur. Genel anlamda üç tip 

trafik seviyesi söz konusudur. 

Evler, özel ofisler, konferans salonları, otel 

yatak odaları, galeriler ve kütüphaneler bu 

türden alanlardır. 

Youn olarak tekerlekli sandalye ya da dier 

tekerlekli ekipmanların (servis arabaları, vb.) 

kullanımını gerektiren mekanlara döenecek 

halıların tekerlein dönmesini engellemeyecek 

yapıda olması, elyafın bu trafie uygun olarak 

belirlenmesi arttır. Sürekli ve aynı noktalarda 

tekerlekli sandalye ya da ekipman 

kullanılıyorsa (sekreter masalarının altları, vb.); 

tekerleklerin yıpratıcı etkisini önlemek amacıyla 

halı üzerine koyulacak elemanlar kullanmak 

yararlı olur. Bu tip aksesuarları, halı satı 

maazaları, hipermarketler ya da yapı 

malzemeleri satan noktalarda bulmak 

mümkündür. 

Youn Trafik : Devamlı olarak yüksek 

seviyede, dorusal ya da dairesel trafie 

maruz kalan, yürüme yoluyla gelen kir ve 

döküntü potansiyeli içeren alanları tanımlar. 

Otel lobileri, restoranlar, satı maazalarının 

giri ve koridorları, okullar, hava alanları tipik 

youn trafik mekanlarıdır. 

Orta Trafik : Genellikle aynı dorultuda 

yürümeye maruz kalan ve kir - döküntü 

taınmasına uygun lokasyonları tanımlar. Açık 

ofisler, bankalar, otel koridorları ve müzeler bu 

tip younluk yaanan mekanlardır. 

Hafif Trafik : Ender olarak dorusal trafie 

maruz kalan, düük oranda ayakla taınan kir 

ve döküntü riski içeren lokasyonlar içindir. 

Toz, Kir ve Leke Performansı : Kir ve 

lekelere karı özel koruma gerektiren alanların 

tespiti son derece kolaydır. Giriler, genel 

kullanıma açık salonlara giden yollar, yiyecek 

ve içecek servisi yapılan mekanlar kir ve 

lekelere karı daha fazla koruma gerektirir. Bu 

alanlar için, yüksek seviyede kir ve leke 

koruması içeren kontrat halıları tercih 

edilmelidir. Bu tür halıların avantajlarının 

olduu ve daha kolay temizlenebildikleri 

unutulmamalıdır.

Kirlenme ve lekelenme birbirlerinden farklı 

etkilerdir. Zamanla ve kullanıma balı olarak 

her tür tekstil ürünü kirlenir. Lekelenme lokal 

bir etkidir, lekeleyici maddenin cinsine 

(özelliine) balı olarak sonuçları da farklılık 

gösterir. Uygun temizleyici malzeme ve 

yöntemler kullanıldıı taktirde bazı lekelerden 

kurtulmak mümkünken, bazı lekeler kalıcı 

olabilir. 

Özellikle (youn kirlenme riski taıyan) giri 

kapıları gibi kritik alanlarda “kir bariyerleri” 

oluturmak yararlı olur ancak tüm tekstil 

ürünlerinde olduu gibi, halı da tam 

anlamıyla leke tutmaz özellikte üretilemez. 

Doru elyaf ve üretim metodunun seçimi, orta 

koyulukta renk, düzensiz desen tercihi ve 

günlük noktasal temizleme programları 

kirleticilerin görünebilen etkilerini minimize 

etmeye yardım eder. Kontrat halılarında 

kullanılan elyafın üstün özellikleriyle, 

uygulanan kir ve leke apreleri birleerek çok 

yüksek performans salarlar. Kontrat halıları; 

toz, kirlenme ve lekelenme konularında çok 

yüksek dirence sahiptir. 

Devamlı ve sert temizlik gerektiren 

binalarda (hastaneler, vb.) kullanılan ve 

kimyasal maddelere maruz kalan halılarda 

renk deformasyonu olması kaçınılmazdır. 

Alev Almazlık : Ticari ve sosyal alanlara 

döenen halıların ulusal alev almazlık 

standartlarına uygun olması gerekir. Bir halının 

alev almazlık seviyesi; kullanılan elyaf, dokuma 

türü, hav sıklıı, taban malzemesi, halı 

kaplanan zeminin türü ve döeme sırasında 

kullanılan yapıtırıcılardan da etkilenir. Alev 

almazlık özellii; tutuma, alevin yayılma hızı 

ve büyüklüüyle ilgilidir. Alev almazlık ve 

yanmazlık kavramları birbirinden farklı 

anlamlar ifade eder ve yanmaz özellikte halı 

yoktur. 

Piyasada yanlı olarak bilinen “yanmazlık” 

ifadesi gerçekçi deildir. Tüm tekstil 

ürünlerinde olduu gibi; halı elyafı da yanabilir 

ancak alevin yayılma eilimi kontrol altında 

tutulabilir. Bu kapsamda elyaf yapısının alevin 

yayılmasına izin vermeyecek biçimde 

tasarlanmı olması ve yanıcı bir materyal halı 

üzerine dütüünde, alevin ilerlemeden 

sönmesi salanmalıdır. Bu özellik; alevin 

yayılma eilimi ve hızı nedeniyle ortama 

salınan gazların elimine edilmesi noktasında 

da önem taır. Bir halının, Kontrat Halısı 

sınıfında deerlendirilebilmesi için mutlaka 

“alev almaz” özellikte olması gerekir. 

Statik Elektriklenme : Deiik materyallerin 

sürtünmesiyle statik elektrik yükü meydana 

gelir. Düük nem oranına sahip, özellikle doal 

gaz ve klimalı binalar elektrostatik yüklemeyi 

artırma eilimi gösterirler. nsanın statik elektrik 

yükünü hissetme sınırı “2.0 kV (2000 Volt)'tur. 

Bu nedenle kontrat halılarının elektrostatik 

özellii mutlaka bu sınırın altında (< 2.0 kV) 

olmalıdır. 

Halıda statik elektrik olumasını önleyen birden 

fazla yöntem vardır. Dikkat edilmesi ve 

bilinmesi gereken en önemli konu; kalıcı ya da

geçici elektrostatik koruma salayan 

uygulamaların varlıının bilinmesidir. Bilgi 

lem ve Haberleme Merkezleri gibi 

elektromanyetik alan younluunun yüksek 

olduu mekanlar için kullanılacak kontrat 

halılarında daha üst seviyelerde antistatik 

özellik salanabilir. 

Renk Haslıı : Kontrat halılarının renk haslıı 

deerlerinin tespitinde yürürlükteki “TS, EN ve 

ISO Standartları" kapsamında yapılan testlerin 

sonuçları esas alınır. Bu testlerde; Iıa Karı 

Renk Haslıı (Color Fastness to Light), Suya 

Karı Renk Haslıı (Color Fastness Wet), 

Sürtünmeye Karı Renk Haslıı (Color 

Fastness Dry - Crockmeter Method) deerleri 

ölçülür. Iıa Karı Renk Haslıı testleri 8 

skalası üzerinden, dier iki test 5 skalası 

üzerinden yapılır. yi kalitede bir kontrat halısı; 

ııa karı renk haslıı testinde “minimum 6/8”, 

suya ve sürtünmeye karı renk haslıı 

testlerinde “minimum 4/5” deerlerine sahip 

olmalıdır. 

Kontrat Halılarında Tasarım Çeitlilii : 

Kontrat halıları; neredeyse sınırsız tasarım, 

desen, renk ve doku seçenekleri sunar. Halı 

tasarımı; kalite, desen ve renk 

kombinasyonudur. Halının orijinal görünümünü 

ne kadar iyi koruyacaı, seçilen elyaf ve 

halının yapısına balıdır. 

Görünüm, dayanıklılık ve maliyet açısından 

göreceli avantajları olmasına ramen, bu 

yararların optimum kombinasyonu daha 

önemlidir. Bu nedenle; özellikle son yıllarda, 

kontrat uygulamaları için polyamid (naylon) 

elyaf tercih edilmektedir. 

Sera etkisinin yüksek olduu (yüksek 

oranda cam kullanılmı) binalarda 

kullanılan ve direk güne ııına maruz 

kalan halılarda renk deformasyonu 

görülebilir. Halı seçilirken bu durumun tespit 

edilmesi ve halı döenecek mekanların ıık 

deerlerinin incelenmesi yararlı olur. 

Kontrat halıları; son derece sade, düz, 

birbirinden baımsız tasarımlara sahip 

olabilecei gibi, heyecan veren ve ortamdaki 

dier unsurları da etkileyen hareketli 

tasarımlara kadar sınırsız seçenekler

sunar.Tasarımda en önemli kriter, halının 

kullanım yeri ve amacıdır. Bu nedenle 

duvardan duvara halılar iki ana disipline ayrılır. 

Ev Kullanımına Uygun Halılar (Residential) : 

Konfor hissi ve estetik kaygılar ön plandadır. 

Rengi, deseni, dokusu ev dekorasyonu ve 

düük trafik younluuna uygundur. 

Neredeyse sınırsız denebilecek sayıda alt 

disiplinleri vardır. 

Youn Kullanıma Uygun Halılar 

(Commercial - Contract) : Dayanıklılık ön 

plandadır. Performans ve bakım ihtiyaçları 

youn kullanıma (high traffic) uygun biçimde 

tasarlanmıtır. Leke dayanımları en üst 

seviyelerdedir. Kolay temizlenebilme, alev

CRITERION OF CONTRACT CARPETS 

Definitions of Contract Carpets : Wall-towall 

carpets provide almost limitless choices 

regarding the selection of color, pattern and 

tissue selection. Due to the flexibility and 

advanced advantages, wall-to-wall carpets are 

particularly preferred as the floor covering 

material of the project (contract) applications. 

Special construction carpets that are 

manufactured in accordance with the needs of 

touristic facilities, hotels, offices, restaurants, 

stores, banks, hospitals, commercial and social 

places are named as ʻʼContract Carpets”. 

Being suitable for the intended use, being 

aesthetic and being easy to maintain are the 

most important details of selecting a contract 

carpet. 

The main reason of the selection of contract 

carpet is the relation between “quality” and 

“cost”. “Obtaining a quality product at a cheap 

price” is a preferable way. However, the 

person to determine the selection criteria 

should be cautious about the low cost choices. 

It must be noted that a quality product should 

have advanced particularities and advantages. 

Thus, if the carpet maintains its appearance of 

first day and its performance, this would add 

value to your low cost investment.

Advantages of Contract Carpets : 

It is necessary during the selection of floor 

covering to be objective regarding the 

aesthetic concerns and product performance. 

It is inevitable to select the product in 

accordance to the place where it will be used. 

In the light of this information it is clear that the 

most proper floor covering for contract 

application is the contract carpets. It is 

impossible for a quality contract carpet that 

has been properly selected in accordance 

with it is intended use to be eroded in the 

normal usage conditions. 

Contract carpets provide an excellent 

advantage combination compared with other 

floor covering options. The carpet has a nice 

and warm appearance. It provides pattern, 

color and tissue options that complete the 

preferred decoration style. It gives an excellent 

sensual intimacy. 

It creates a soft, safe, healthy, warm and 

comfortable ambiance. It reduces the noise 

level of the environment and provides 

insulation against the heat abduction.

Easy Installation : The carpet is easily 

installed and it can be applied to all kind of

Rolling a carpet out and installing a carpet are 

different applications. 

To be able to get a long term performance 

from the carpet, the carpets should be installed 

with proper methods and in accordance with 

the instructions of the manufacturer. 

Two methods that are most frequently used in 

the installation applications of wall-to-wall 

carpets; bonding and installing over base with 

an underlay. One of both of these methods can 

be applied according to the performance 

expectation and sizes of the area to be 

covered. Directly bonding method is the best 

choice for the areas where size stabilization is 

critical or for areas exposed to the wheeled 

traffic. Installation over the base with an 

underlay is most convenient for more softness 

(comfort) expectation and for the areas where 

extra noise is wished to be reduced. 

No matter which method is preferred, the 

installation should be applied to the 

smooth, dry and clean floor by the expert 

installation personnel. 

Low Maintenance Cost : The maintenance of 

contract carpets is easier and cheaper than 

other floor covering systems. Good quality 

contract carpets save maintenance costs up to 

30%. 

Acoustic Absorptivity : Contract carpets 

eliminate the footstep, eco and resonances. It 

creates a quiet, peaceful, calm and more 

productive environment. The acoustic tests 

proved that carpets absorb ten times more the 

atmospheric sounds. 

Heat Insulation : Carpet is the most useful 

material for the heat insulation. Contract carpet 

usage might provide energy saving up to 5%. It 

is much easier to warm and maintain the heat 

of the carpet installed areas. 

Security : Hard floor coverings (especially 

when they are wet) may be slippery and 

dangerous. Therefore, carpet is the safest floor 

covering. Thus, it reduces the accident 

possibility and damage that might result from 

accidents. 

Health : Contract carpets that have been 

chosen in accordance with the intended use 

and cleaned and maintained with the proper 

methods on an regular basis do not contain 

bacteria and/or germs. The atmospheric dirt 

(flying dust corpuscles) on the carpet installed 

area is two times less than the Hard floor 

coverings. 

The tests made by international industrial 

research center proved that the carpets do not 

contain bacteria or harmful substances. 

Orthopedic Comfort : A soft and flexible 

carpet surface gives a mattress affect. It helps

preventing the back and joint pains as it 

distributes the body weight in a balanced way. 

A quality contract carpet contains advanced 

added value and low cost advantages. Total 

user cost of contract carpets is extremely low. 

Total user cost includes the product cost, 

installation cost and maintenance and product 

life. Industrial studies have proven that total 

user cost of the contract carpet floor covering 

is almost 25% less than the other floor 

covering systems.

Technical Specification of Contract 

Carpets : 

Contract carpets of nowadays are the 

product of high technology. 

Fiber technology and important developments 

in the carpet manufacturing techniques provide 

the opportunity of producing carpets 

completely convenient with the intended use. 

The most important markets for contract 

carpets are touristic facilities and hotels. We 

can list the carpets need of a hotel under 

“rooms”, “halls”, and “general areas” titles. 

While choosing the carpets “usage area and 

intended use, resistance, “maintenance 

options”, “decorative and aesthetic concerns” 

should be balanced and later the carpet should 

be selected. The nature of the area to be 

covered with carpet is very important while 

selecting a carpet. The performance and 

maintenance needs of the carpets should be 

analyzed properly and it should be noted that 

there are different traffic levels in different parts 

of a building. 

Considering the budget of the project, 800- 

1000 gr/m 2 for rooms, 1000-1200 gr/m 2 for 

halls, 1200-1400 gr/m 2 for general areas could 

be convenient. The carpets in the bedrooms 

should be luxurious but it should be noted they 

will be used less compared with the carpets to 

be selected for the general areas. 

There are constant and linear movements in 

the corridors. As luggage, service charts, etc. 

wheeled equipments use these areas; they 

require more resistance compared with the 

bedrooms. Bar and restaurants should have 

maximum level of resistance against dirt and 

stains. In case of necessity, the carpets in 

different feature and quality might be used 

within the same area. All these options are 

determined by considering the status, needs of 

the facility and budget of the project. 

High performance contract carpets should 

absolutely used for the areas under intense 

traffic level. Therefore, it is necessary to

consult specific sales point performing contract 

carpets or manufacturer. 

It must be noted that each carpet in the 

market is not contract carpet (convenient 

with intense usage). It is necessary for a 

carpet to have some features to be considered 

as a contract carpet. These technical 

specifications are integral parts of the contract 

carpets. 

Durability (Traffic Level) : The first phase of 

selecting contract carpet is to analyze the 

current and expected traffic intensity. If the 

area is redecorated, wearing corrosion in the 

ancient carpet is a good guide. Generally, 

there are three kinds of traffic levels. 

bedrooms, galleries and libraries are the 

examples of this kind of areas. 

It is necessary that the carpets to be installed 

to the area which requires intense usage of 

wheeled chart or other wheeled equipments 

(service cars, etc.) to be designed in a manner 

not preventing the wheels from turning and that 

the fiber to be determined in accordance with 

this traffic. 

If wheeled chair or equipment is constantly 

used in the same spots (under the secretary 

tables, etc.) using some agents preventing the 

wearing effect of the wheels will be useful. It is 

possible to find this kind of agents at carpet 

selling stores, hypermarkets or at construction 

materials selling stores. 

Heavy Traffic : Heavy traffic is defined as the 

areas subject to constant and intense level of 

linear or circular traffic and that contains dirt 

coming by walking and scrap potential. Hotel 

lobbies, restaurants, entrance and halls of 

sales stores, school, and parking lots are the 

typical heavy traffic areas. 

Medium Traffic : It is generally defined as the 

locations exposed to walking in the same 

direction and convenient for dirt-scarp transfer. 

Open offices, banks, hotel halls and museums 

are the areas having this kind of intensity. 

Low Traffic : This is for the locations that are 

rarely subject to linear traffic and contain low 

risk level of dirt-scrap transferred by walking. 

Houses, private offices, conference halls, hotel 

Dust, Dirt and Stain Performance : It is very 

easy to detect the areas requiring special 

protection against dirt and stains. Entries, ways 

in the direction of the commonly used halls, 

areas where food and drink is served require 

more protection against dirt and stains. 

Contract carpets that provide advanced 

protection against stain and dirt should be 

preferred for these areas. It must be noted that 

these carpets have a lot of advantages and 

that they could be easily cleaned.

Dirt and stains are different effects. Any kind of 

textile gets dirty depending on time and usage. 

Stain is a local effect and its results will be 

different according to the type (kind) of the 

substance causing the stain. 

If proper cleaner and methods are used, some 

stains can be removed but some of them might 

be permanent. 

It would be useful to create “dirt barriers” 

especially in some critical areas such as 

entrance door (having intense dirt risk) but 

it is not possible to manufacture a stainless 

carpet; same thing is valid for any textile 

product. 

Choosing proper fiber and production method, 

medium tone color, irregular pattern choice 

and daily point cleaning programs could help 

minimizing the visible effect of pollutant. 

Advanced particularities of the fiber used in the 

contract carpets and applied dirt and stain 

convertors are combined and this creates an 

excellent performance. 

Contract carpets have a very advanced 

resistance regarding the issues such as dust, 

dirt and stains. 

Color deformation is inevitable for the 

carpets used in the buildings requiring 

constant cleaning (hospitals, etc.) and the 

carpets that are subject to chemical agents. 

Surface Flammability : The carpets installed 

in commercial and social facilities should meet 

the International Flammability Standards. The 

flame retardancy level of a carpet is affected 

by; the fiber used, tufting methods, pile 

stitches, secondary backing, type of the 

covered floor and adhesive used during the 

installation. Flame retardancy feature is about 

the inflammation, deflagration and spreading 

rate and sizes of the flames. 

Flame retardancy and non-flammable are 

different concepts and there is not an nonflammable 

carpet. 

“Non-flammable” expression which is 

commonly used in the market is not realistic. 

Like all textile products, carpet fiber is 

flammable too but the spread tendency of the 

flame may be controlled. In this concept, the 

fiber structure should be designed in a manner 

preventing the flame from spreading and going 

out without spreading when a flammable 

material falls over the carpet. This particularity 

is an important one regarding the spreading 

tendency and rate of the flame and elimination 

of the gases released to the environment. A 

carpet should have “flame retardant” feature to 

be considered as a contract carpet. 

Electrostatic Properties : Various electric 

loads are occurred by the friction of different 

materials. Buildings with low rate of humidity 

especially the ones with natural gas and air 

conditioner shall increase the electrostatic 

charge. The limit of detection of the 

electrostatic charge is 2.0 kV (2000 Volt) for 

human beings. Therefore, electrostatic feature 

of the contract carpets should definitely be 

under this limit (< 2.0 kV). 

There are several methods preventing the 

static electric from occurring in the carpet. One 

important point to be noted and to be known;

temporary or permanent electrostatic 

protection providing applications should be 

known. 

Higher level of antistatic feature might be 

provided for the carpets to be used in the Data 

Proceeding and Communication Centers 

where the electromagnetic area density is 

higher. 

Color Fastness : The tests results within the 

concept of applicable “TS, EN and ISO 

Standards” are used as basis for the detection 

of the color fastness of the contract carpets. In 

these tests; color fastness to light, color 

fastness wet, color fastness dry - crock meter 

method values are calculated. The color 

fastness to light test is made over 8 scales the 

other two tests are mode over 5 scales. A good 

quality contract carpet should have “minimum 

6/8” in color fastness to light and “minimum 

4/5” in color fastness wet, color fastness dry 

tests. 

Design of the Contract Carpets : 

Contract carpets provide almost limitless 

design, color, and pattern and tissue options. 

Carpet design is the combination of quality, 

pattern and color. The level of protection of the 

original appearance of the carpet depends on 

the preferred fiber and on the carpet type. 

Even though it has relative advantages 

regarding appearance, resistance and cost, 

optimum combination of these advantages is 

much more important. Therefore, recently 

Polyamide (nylon) fiber is preferred for contract 

applications. 

Color deformation can be seen in the 

buildings where glasshouse effect is high 

(high rate of glass is used) and in the 

carpets that are exposed to direct sunlight. 

This condition should be detected and the light 

value of the areas to be covered with carpet 

should be analyzed while choosing carpets. 

While contract carpets might have extremely 

simple, smooth and separated designs, they 

may also have exciting designs and some 

designs affecting other agents in the 

environment. The most important criteria in the 

design are the intended use and intended 

usage place of the carpet. Therefore wall-towall 

carpets are based on two disciplines:

Residential Carpets : Comfort sense and 

aesthetic concerns are in the foreground. It is 

color, pattern, tissue which are convenient for 

residential decoration and low traffic level. 

It has almost limitless sub disciplines. 

Commercial - Contract Carpets : Resistance 

is in the foreground. Performance and 

maintenance needs are designed in 

accordance with the intense usage (heavy 

traffic). 

Pattern, Color and Tissue : Especially in 

cases when the contract carpet is used in large 

surfaces and when it is the dominant 

decoration agent; the color, pattern and tissue 

have very big importance. 

The patterns divide the field of vision of the 

inner area. Large patterns create a narrow 

area sensation; as for the small patterns, they 

create a sensation of large area. 

The pattern of the carpet has an important role 

in hiding the dirt and wearing. The carpets with 

a large floor gap make the stains significant. 

Stain resistance is highly advanced. It has 

some extra advantages such as being easily 

cleanable, flame retardant and having 

antistatic features. 

Regular (organic, geometric) patterns are more 

likely to show the dirt; irregular and multi 

patterns reduce the visibility of the dirt and 

stains 

Carpets convenient for high traffic should be 

preferred especially for the areas such as 

hotel, holiday villages, business centers and 

malls. 

It is also possible to manufacture carpets in 

much higher class designed for areas subject 

to heavier traffic such as airports and banks. 

There is not any inconvenience of using the 

carpets designed for heavy traffic at home 

but it is not possible to expose the carpets 

designed for houses to the heavy traffic. 

A light colored carpet shows the area large and 

airy. Strong and dark colors create a warm 

atmosphere. 

Color is important not only for aesthetic 

concerns but also for hiding the dirt of the 

carpet. 

Solid and light colors show the dirt of the 

carpet more easily; dark colors show the light 

colored hair and dirt. Medium ton colors 

effectively reduce the visibility of dirt. 

Maximum dirt hiding performance is achieved 

with irregularly dispersed colors or irregular 

patterns. Multi colored and irregular patterns at

medium tons containing carpets provide a 

balanced performance for the areas that will be 

subject to average traffic.
